The Bucks Are Falling Apart

Looks like that whole “we have three point guards” thing isn’t the case for the Bucks any longer. First Michael Redd, then Andrew Bogut, now it appears Luke Ridnour will be sidelined for up to four weeks with an apparent broken thumb suffered in practice. Throw in the fact that the team might be leaving Miluwakee, and it’s safe to say the Bucks are falling apart.

Just one day after GM John Hammond traded Tyronn Lue to Orlando for Keith Bogans, it turns they could have used him. “It takes a lot of air out of you,” said guard Charlie Bell, and he was talking only about the injuries to Redd and Bogut before Ridnour was hurt.” Read More »

(Almost) Daily Fantasy – 2/6/09

Decisions, decisions, decisions. Here’s the deal: Elton Brand is done for the season. Like many of you, we keep 3 players each season. Should Brand be held onto for the rest of the season to be kept for next year? The good news is that it’s a labrum injury and although Brand will never pitch in the major leagues, he’ll probably be back to being a double-double and shot blocking force next year. This is however two straight seasons which Brand has essentially missed because of injuries. I still think Brand’s a keeper. I think he’ll be healthy and live up to his big contract next year. If you have the roster flexibility, hold onto him. Lots to go over. Leave your comments and questions in the comments box.

Deron Williams –Evidently Deron is fine. He was nasty last night. D-Will was hitting threes, finding open guys all over the court and finished with 34 points, 5 threes, and 12 assists. He’s good to go next week. Read More »

NBA Trade Rumor: Amare Stoudemire for LaMarcus Aldridge

The Amare Stoudemire trade rumors are heating up, especially at it appears more and more likely that the Suns can’t legitimately compete for title as presently constructed. Of the scenarios we’ve seen so far, this one from Dallasbasketball.com is pretty interesting: Read More »

Corey Brewer: Al Jefferson Is Unstoppable

Since the ball dropped and kicked off 2009, things have looked a whole lot better in Minnesota. Since the New Year, the Wolves are 11-6, a slight drop off of the 7-2 run that they had to start the year, but impressive nonetheless. We got up with Corey Brewer yesterday, as he was finishing up rehab on his torn ACL to talk about what’s been the difference for the Wolves, and for some insight into their locker room.

Dime: What’s been the difference with Coach McHale at the helm? Corey Brewer: Guys have just been more aggressive. Coach McHale gives guys the freedom – I guess you could say – to play their game. Guys are playing really well right now. Read More »

Cut Elton Brand a break

Imagine my surprise last night when I returned home from a full day of travel to find out Philly fans had lost their collective mind. (Delayed reaction to blowing the NFC Championship game?)

First, the biggest Sixers fan I know was suggesting the team trade Andre Miller — honestly one of the better point guards in the League — not only to give notoriously shaky decision-maker Lou Williams a crack at starting for a team that’s still very much in the playoff picture, but also to help make another Eastern Conference contender that much stronger.

Then, after news broke that Elton Brand will miss the rest of the season due to shoulder surgery, it was like the entire Philly fan base turned on the best player on their team for no good reason. The venom spewing from the 215 sounded a little like this:

* “See? I told you he was injury-prone!” — I wouldn’t go that far. For the majority of his career, Brand has been a pretty dependable workhorse who’d missed a total of six games over a three-year span from 2004 to 2007. Read More »

Amare Stoudemire On the Trading Block

It looks like the Suns came out of those closed-door meetings with something. Ideally, everyone would have been recommitted to turning a roster choc full of talent into a real contender, right now. But instead, it looks as though their proposed solution will include some “major changes” before the Feb. 19th trade deadline.

Perhaps signaling a willingness to dismantle their roster, the Phoenix Suns have begun exchanging trade proposals with teams for All-Star forward Amare Stoudemire, league executives told Yahoo! Sports on Thursday. Read More »

A Tale Of Two Cities

Coming into last night’s game, the Lakers were in a Charles Dickens-esque predicament. It was the best of times (Kobe’s 61 and the top record in the West), and it was the worst of times (no Andrew Bynum for the foreseeable future). But nonetheless, it was a trip back to Beantown – a place the Lakers hadn’t been since June 17, when Boston’s 39-point win set the NBA record for the biggest margin of victory in a championship clincher. With the wound still fresh despite a win over the Celtics on Christmas Day, all eyes were on Kobe. With a combined 97 points in two games, you knew Mr. MVP was going to get up for the champs. But after being named an All-Star replacement by David Stern for the injured Jameer Nelson, it was fellow Class of 1996 member Ray Allen (22 pts) who came out the gates gunnin’. Goodness gracious, Ray had the hamster wheel in full effect on panicky Derek Fisher – whose eyes were darting all over the floor looking for coming screens all night. At one point, Jesus ran him through three guys for a beautiful corner trey. But despite Ray’s prolific shooting, Los Angeles took the early lead … Read More »

BREAKING NEWS: Elton Brand Out for Season

Philly’s $80 million man, Elton Brand won’t be able to prove his worth to the City of Brotherly Love this season, as he is going to get season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum.

According to Comcast SportsNet-Philadelphia, Brand will have a torn labrum repaired and will not return until next season.

Though Sixers fans might have steam blowing out of their ears that millions of dollars have been wasted this season, they aren’t too upset that Brand won’t be in the lineup. He’s been a big disappointment and the Sixers have been better without him.

The Lakers Should Make This Move

Though the Lakers’ have great chemistry right now following two monster wins on an East Coast swing, Phil Jackson isn’t getting too comfortable on top of the West. Phil said that he’s willing to entertain trade offers to help improve the club following Andrew Bynum‘s torn MCL, which will likely keep him out until the playoffs.

“We certainly won’t sit back and just assume (the best),” Jackson said. “We’ll talk about it. We’ll try to improve the club if there’s a necessary thing to do. That’s what you have to do in this business.”

L.A. doesn’t have the luxury of inserting Ronny Turiaf in Bynum’s absence this time around. Read More »
