While Pat sees acquiring the third point guard in the rotation, playing behind Luke Ridnour and Ramon Sessions, as a slap in the face, the 11-year veteran and former member of the Magic (where he started 69 of 76 games) could be just the sub Orlando is looking for. Read More »
The February 9th issue of Sports Illustrated has a poll where they asked 190 NBA players the following question: Which NBA player thinks he’s a lot better than he really is?
At first we were thinking of the best way to make fun of this, but it actually gets scary at the end. Maybe stick to the halftime trampoline dunks squads like everybody else, fellas.
Not sure if you guys outside of New York know who Dee and Ricky are, but the two twins from Staten Island, New York are big on the artsy-fashion scene here in NY. Have you seen those lego pendants and belt buckles celebs like Kanye West and Marc Jacobs wear? Well they designed them Read More »
How bad do we want it? That’s the question facing Magic GM Otis Smith and the rest of Orlando’s front office today. A few days ago, the Magic were sitting in a spot where their team and their fans were starting to let themselves dream about NBA championships. They’d been in first place in their division for much of the season, 3/5 of their starting five were named to the All-Star game, and the month of January alone saw them beat the Cavs, Lakers, Nuggets, Spurs, Heat and Hawks twice.
But then came the punch in the gut that Jameer Nelson could miss the rest of the season. At 37-11 and with all the momentum in the world, they’re right there. It’s pretty clear that they need to do something significant at the point guard spot right? Anthony Johnson is a solid vet, and a decent stop-gap until/if Jameer gets back. But can you bank on that? Say Nelson does make it back in time for some kind of playoff run, what kind of condition will he be in? No matter how well rehab goes, there’s just now way he’ll be back at the level he was when he got hurt. Are you willing to bank on a miracle recovery and/or Anthony Johnson? Otis and the Magic have to do something big and they have to do it now.

My bad for missing yesterday. Tough call who to give MVP to from last night huh? How about… The King? LeBron was absurd last night (I was actually in attendance). We all know King James’ crazy stat line from last night, but here it is one more time – 52 points, on 51.5 percent from the field and 84.2 percent from the line, 11dimes, 10 boards, 2 blocks, and 2 threes. Wow. LBJ wasn’t the only big fantasy standout last night though. Let’s get at it.
Jermaine O’Neal – Um. What? Jermaine O’Neal had 9 blocks last night! Forget the 22 points and 9 boards. JO had, I repeat, 9 blocks! The NBA trade rumors for JO are about to get heated and so should the fantasy ones as well. Trading high (aka before JO gets hurt again) is a nice option. Read More »
Though there was absolutely no talk at the Garden last night about LeBron in 2010, there were still some murmurings around the League about the Knicks’ free agent plans that summer. It looks like those plans surely won’t include Dwyane Wade.
“Is it a possibility me and LeBron will play together? It’s always a possibility,” Wade said. “We’re both free agents. Is it a possibility I’m going to New York? That’s not a possibility in my mind.”
The Knick-haters have to love this – for the first time, it’s like someone is standing up to the Knicks, who assume that everyone wants to play in the Big Apple.
One game shy of the 50-game checkpoint, I’m liking this whole Indiana Pacers fan thing. Even though the team is losing, they play an entertaining brand of ball, they’re involved in a lot of close games, they seem like a decent group of guys, and I’ve had the privilege to watch Danny Granger turn into a superstar almost game-by-game.
A few other notes on the team as we approach All-Star break: Read More »
Though the crew over at Fanhouse is arguing that LeBron‘s 9th rebound really should have been credited to Ben Wallace, which would have left him short of the triple-double, it was still a flat-out bonkers performance. As LeBron said before the game about Kobe‘s 61-point night, it’s all just about witnessing “greatness.”
