Suns “Air-Out” Differences At Closed-Door Meeting

This is what losing to the Bulls can do to you.

Following their 122-111 loss on Saturday night, the Suns got together on Sunday to work out the issues at hand in a closed-door meeting.

“I’ve been on teams where guys don’t like each other at all,” Porter said. “But when we stepped on the floor, I respected that guy, and I knew he had my back. Read More »

Eddy Curry’s Bailout Package

Wall Street isn’t the only New Yorker asking for a bailout package. According to the New York Daily News, Eddy Curry asked the Knicks for an advance of approximately $8 million last year to offset his increasing financial debt.

If I was to come into Dime today and ask for a proportional advance, I might be fired. Where is his money going? Curry is slated to make $9.7 million this season and $22 million in the last two years of his current deal. But apparently Curry’s knack for spending dates back to his rookie season with the Bulls. Pat Knight Goes Berserk

It’s not quite his pops tossing the chair across the court against Purdue, but it’s still some impressive work.

Chris Bosh Says He Won’t Re-Sign In Toronto

After Chris Bosh put up an 11-point performance last night, Raptors fans have another reason to be upset with their star. He doesn’t want to play in Toronto past 2010.

According to Stephen A. Smith in the video above, Bosh has “no desire to remain in Toronto.” In fact, CB4 already told Bryan Colangelo that he won’t re-sign. Thus, Colangelo is reportedly starting to explore trade options for Bosh, and Dallas and Miami are figuring to be big players in the Bosh sweepstakes.

Super Sunday

There were a couple of close games on yesterday’s NBA schedule, but nothing matching the entertainment value of the Super Bowl. First question from Steelers/Cardinals: Is anyone else afraid that Santonio Holmes will become 2009 Plaxico Burress? The last receiver who made the Super Bowl-winning TD catch kind of had a life fail over the ensuing 12 months. Second question: Let’s say Ben Roethlisberger has a decent career from here on out — no more championships and maybe a couple Pro Bowls, something along the lines of Jake Delhomme. Are the two Super Bowl rings from his first five years enough to get him into the Hall of Fame? Third question: How does Andrea Kramer interview James Harrison in the post-game and not ask him about his prison initiation scene with Arizona’s #47 that resulted in a personal foul penalty for excessive Deebo-ing? … So about the NBA. If you’re wondering why the Pistons have gone from a legit championship contender to a team whose ceiling is now closer to a second-round exit, look no further than the fourth quarter of Sunday’s home loss to the Cavs. Read More »

(Almost) Daily Fantasy – 2/1/09

Most of you are probably thinking Super Bowl and not fantasy hoops today. I’ll keep it short. Fantasy MVP? Chris Paul gets it in a losing effort although this wasn’t his traditional line. CP actually had only 4 assists but he had 5 threes, scored 38 points and somehow shot almost 70% from the field. That’s crazy. Sorry Brandon Roy, I know you had a nice night, but CP is still on another level. Have some Super Sunday quick hits.

Andrew Bynum - Don’t panic yet. Yes he left on a wheel chair and yes the flashbacks of last season are probably popping up in just about every fantasy owner’s mind, but let’s wait it out and see how bad it is before we jump to conclusions. Bynum has been playing the best ball of his NBA career so let’s hope he’s okay. No matter what, it’s going to be a minute before we see Bynum, just don’t go cutting him until we see if a “minute” means the season or 4 to 6 weeks. Lamar Odom, who is probably a free agent in some leagues right now, is a GREAT pick up.

Mike Conley – If you need a guard, and you have a borderline roster spot, give it to Conley. He’s a free agent in a lot of leagues and his 13 and 7 line last night could be a typical thing over the second half. That’s not amazing but it’s good enough. This pick up isn’t for everybody, but if you’re guard hungry, the pick up is pretty low risk. Read More »

It… um… it happened again

As Kobe Bryant sat, then kneeled, then stood on the FedEx Form court rolling his eyes and shaking his head while he watched Andrew Bynum writhing in pain and clutching his knee, there are only two things we can imagine he could have been thinking. Either, “Oh no, what did I do? This is NOT good. Dammit!” or something closer to, “Wow, this kid is fragile.” In the first quarter of last night’s Lakers/Grizzlies game, Bynum threw a panic into every L.A. fan when he went down after Kobe drove baseline and fell backwards into Bynum’s right knee. So far all we know is that it’s a knee sprain, but until the MRI we don’t know how long Bynum will be out. Almost two weeks to the day of last year’s season-ending knee injury — which also happened against the Grizzlies — this is potentially an awful turn of events for the Lake Show. (Remember when Kobe punctuated a win in Memphis earlier this season with that last-second dunk, and the Grizzlies announcers swore the players wouldn’t forget it? Remember Gerald Wallace? Was this karma rearing its untimely head?) … Read More »
