Should the Celtics Be Worried Already?

Stephon MarburySteph

Yesterday at Madison Square Garden, the Stephon Marbury Era was officially over. The “Marbury” name plate that has been on his locker all year was finally gone. And it looks as though the Steph Era will begin anew in Boston on Friday morning.

One of our favorite websites, Barstoolsports.com, just set the over/under for “First Disastrous Influence on Team” at 10 days. Others are predicting that he’ll be a great addition in Boston’s quest to defend their title.

But if you want to read into Steph’s early comments, you might have to take the under in that Barstool bet.

Asked about his role with the Celtics, presumably to back up guard Rajon Rondo, Marbury said, “I’ll just let my game speak for itself.”

What does that mean? Is that Steph’s way of saying that he’s going to take Rondo’s spot in the starting lineup? Uh oh…

OK I Believe marbury will put his attitude aside for once in his life simply a chance to get his ring and the moment he tries to cause a problem he cut asap and im pretty sure kg and the leaders will let him know his role and the moment he steps out of it remind him of it and marburys not that stupid i can see kg giving him the big baby treatment when he messes up

You just took a vague, ambiguous quote any player would say and are spinning into some sensationalized bullshit. If I wanted this stuff, I’d read ESPN. You’re better than that, Dime.

What exactly do you people think Steph is gonna do to this team .. I mean if he thinks he should start how in any way shape or form does that affect the other 11 guys.. Plus he’s getting vet min and if he does get cut he prob won’t get another contract in the league. Marbury isn’t stupid now. He’s a better scorer than Allen and a better point than house be gives us to important things we need off the bench, Everyone should be in agreement that his is a grey move for the C’s ..

Now I jjust got to make sure I’m still home when we have the parade.

    @ kevin k:

    ummm, what??

Marbury had and HAS more talent/potential than Rondo? Are we watching the same sport? Marbury, at one point a few years ago, was a better scorer, but in terms of overall talent for a point guard (big part=making your teammates better), Rondo surpasses him.. it’s not even close. And that’s comparing to 4 years ago Marbury.

and who the fack cares about lottery pick or no. Darko was a lottery pick and Monta Ellis wasn’t.. big whoop.

Marbury made an impact quicker.. ok so he scored 20 points on a 25 win team, woohoo! Fact is top point guards often take a few years to develop. Rondo, in his 3rd year, has surpassed Marbury at his peak, period.

Wow, i cannot believe he made such a horrific statement. Its definitely indicative that he wants to be the #1 player in Boston and has manufactured a plan to disturb the looker room already. I’m sure he’ll spit in Bill Russell’s face the first time they meet.

How could somebody who’s been disrespected by his team for the last year and a half say something like that? After hearing from everybody that he’s washed up and wont be able to contribute, what could he mean by this horrible statement?

“I’ll just let my game speak for itself.”

What an ass hole. How could be just want his game speak for itself, what a selfish ass hole, right? The Celts shoud just pack it in for the season, right? What idiots

In case you didnt notice the sarcasm, this is one stupid ass discussion/article/shit to nit pick on. You can just as easily conclude that he meant he’ll thrive in their system and his new role. Your making a predetermined choice to take his statement the wrong way.
