We Reminisce: Duke v. North Carolina
Real talk, I don’t like either squad. I am a fan of many players that have played at these schools. Guys like Vince Carter, Rashad McCants, Jay Williams, and Carlos Boozer all were favorites of mine. My thing with the both of these programs is that they just keep reloading! I am a Syracuse fan and while their recruiting classes are never shabby…they’re never like Duke and UNC.
BUT I will say I make sure I never miss a Duke/UNC game. Lol. I really look forward to when they play. I know people say Red Sox/Yankees or Miami/Florida State is a bigger rivalry but Duke/UNC in my opinion, is a way bigger rivalry. The schools are so in proximity to one another and both programs are so storied you can’t help but to watch the game tonight.

Yeah that rivalry the shit.I dont care who win tonight I cool with Gerald Henderson from Duke and wayne Ellington from UNC.We worked out together a couple of time both them youngins got game.I probaly go for UNC because I done went out and got into some things with Wayne.

I live 10 mins from DUKE and 12 mins from UNC…Hands down, the best rivalry in Sports! Cowboys and Redskins are a distant 2nd!

My all time fav has to be JJ Reddick, I want to take my boys to this game in a couple of years.
My favorite memory is when Capel hit the half court shot to send it into what I believe was the 2nd OT. And of course Wojo slapping the floor on defense.
I keep telling my PG they should do that.

I am from NY and growing up St. Johns was just ok (Artest, Zendon Hamilton..guys like that.) Otis Hill, from around my way, played for ‘Cuse with John Wallace and I became a fan.
We NEED to beat UCONN tonight for sure, we’re in a slump man.

Best rivalry in sports period. I really don’t think it’s close. Read an article last year that the Duke Unc game @ Duke is the hardest ticket in ALL OF SPORTS to get. Over 8k for 1 ticket! WOW!

Duke gets talent but not future NBA talent ( I know, Brand, Boozer, Maggette, Hill) especially recently. For some reason not many Duke players translate to the NBA game. Coach K is missing something when he recruits. Yeah they get a Duke degree, but isn’t playing major Div I ball in the ACC about getting a contract in the league?
UNC gets major talent because they see a mope like Brendan Heywood get a 5 year $25M contract from the Wizards to average 8.7 ppg and 7.4 rpg.
UNC heads sit in the league longer for some strange reason. Look at Rick Fox. Not a superstar by any means.

Christian, I can remember the Otis Hill and John Wallace led ‘Cuse team that made it all the way to the finals only to fall to that Kentucky team which had NBA talent all across its lineup. Guys like Lazarus Sims and Jason Cipolla in the starting lineup. Haha it was really incredible what Wallace did that tournament, especially against Georgia. The ‘Cuse could use some magic like that tonight.
