BREAKING NEWS: John Calipari Takes Kentucky Job

John Calipari

It’s official, Coach Cal‘s going to Lexington. As we wrote earlier, he could end up having a flat-out ridiculous squad when March Madness rolls around if everything works out. One more time, here’s Calipari’s ideal situation:

* Kentucky’s two recruits, Rivals’ No. 22 overall C Daniel Orton and No. 32 overall SG/SF Jon Hood don’t ditch the program now that Billy Gillispie‘s gone. Read More »

Who is the NBA’s next breakout superstar?

Brandon Roy, Dime #24

Even when the new one has just been crowned, we’re always looking for the next one. After his setting the stage with his Rookie of the Year in ’07 and first All-Star appearance in ’08, Brandon Roy certified his breakthrough this year: officially hitting “multiple-time All-Star” level, an All-NBA candidate, taking over the Blazers as his own, and well on his way to leading them to the playoffs. This is the Most Important Week In High School Hoops

lance-cover-1

This week has the potential to be the single most important week in high school hoops in the last couple of years. Three major stars are all moving at once, and could possibly settle within the next seven days.

(1) It seems like John Calipari is going to accept an eight-year, $35 million deal at the University of Kentucky, thereby completely shifting the balance of power in the SEC, and the college landscape in general. Read More »

Clip of the Day: Reporter Bloopers

This is one of my favorite blooper compilations. Most of the clips are funny some are just out right hilarious. Call me morbid but the reporter at the .25 mark gets it. Ouch!

What Is David Lee Doing?

Can anyone tell me what the hell this is? David Lee is a fake cop who wears his cap like C.C. Sabathia and he has some uncomfortable dialogue with a cartoon reptile. For a guy who keeps a pretty low profile, how does this happen?

What if Kevin Garnett is out for the season?

Kevin Garnett

Is anyone else seeing the parallels between Kevin Garnett‘s injury situation this year and Andrew Bynum‘s last year?

Garnett returned on March 20 from his right knee strain, and even though the Celtics were closely monitoring him — KG only played 15 and 17 minutes, respectively, in crucial games against the Spurs and Magic — his comeback was cut short after four games when he was held out Friday at Atlanta and Sunday against Oklahoma City. Today, Doc Rivers said the Celtics are shutting down KG for a while longer: Read More »

The Power of the Blazers’ Playoff Beards

Steve Blake

I’m not able to grow a real beard – believe me I wish I could. But the truth is that neither are Steve Blake or Brandon Roy. Whatever grows out of their face right now might technically count as a “beard” but that’s only because it’s in the spirit of a “playoff beard.” If someone saw either one of these two guys walking down the street in the middle of October, they’d think that they had lost their razors.

That’s the beauty of the “playoff beard” though. Even those of us who have no business trying out a beard in public are able to go for it. Read More »

OKC Signs Shaun Livingston To Multi-Year Contract

shaun-livingston-1

There are 140 guys in the D-League who are averaging more points than Shaun Livingston is with the Tulsa 66ers. Through 11 games, the former No. 4 pick is putting up 9.5 points, 6.0 assists and 3.5 boards. But that was good enough for the Thunder – not just to call him up – but to ink him to a multi-year contract. It’s team policy that they won’t disclose the terms of the deal just yet.

Are they seeing something that everyone else isn’t? Read More »

Sixers’ “power forward” Andre Iguodala made a cameo appearance last night on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” to play the part of the Obama Administration rejecting GM’s latest bailout proposal.
