Sorry for getting back to you guys so late, but as you can imagine I have been crazy busy today. Well…last night was the night! My show premiered and I still can’t honestly believe it. The show aired at 10pm, but I was at a premiere party watching the show about an hour before. Read More »

Remember back when there was an underlying current of skepticism that always seemed to accompany high praise for Kobe Bryant: haters and respected NBA analysts alike detracted from KB’s accomplishments in the post-Shaq, pre-Pau phase of his career by questioning his trigger-happy, shoot-first mentality. DAVID WEST (by Aron Phillips) Perhaps playing with Chris Paul is a bad thing. While the Hornets continue to win games behind two-time All-Star David West, all anyone can do when they watch or talk about the Hornets is focus on CP3. Sure, he’s great, perhaps even MVP-worthy in only his fourth year, but the only reason people ever talk about the Hornets in a contention conversation is because of D-West. Read More »

After the trade deadline, once all the dust settled, there was one team more than the rest that I was excited about: the Sacramento Kings. I know what you’re thinking, but I’m not crazy. Despite Sacramento’s 13-48 record in the Western Conference, there is more than Kevin Johnson to be excited about in Sac-Town.
Think about it. Just weeks ago this team was miserable with a couple big salaries on the roster of players they had no desire to have, and now the forever documented “youth movement” is on in full effect and the Kings are primed to become players once again. If I had to find one team to compare them to, it would be Miami. Read More »
We clearly need two Co-Fantasy MVP’s for last night. D-Wade and LeBron were straight filthy in what really should both an instant classic and an fantasy instant classic. Put the turnovers aside for a minute (14 combined) and let’s admire both players stats for a second. LeBron – 42 points, 6 threes, 8 boards, 4 dimes, 1 absurd block, 1 steal, 62% from the field and perfect from the line. Honestly though, Wade’s might have been better. Wade had 41 points, 2 threes, 9 assists, 7 boards, 7 steals, 1 absurd block 54% from the field, and 78% from the line. Crazy night. But those aren’t the players you guys really care about at this point of the season right? Here’s who you should be keeping an eye on today. Including a possible early return from Kevin Durant. After 36 minutes of action in the Cavs/Heat duel last night, Dwyane Wade had 34 points on 14-22 shooting (63.6% FG). But in the final 12, when Cleveland stormed back from a sizable deficit, Wade committed 2 turnovers, and went 2-8 from the field for 7 points. Was it that he just went cold? What was the difference in the fourth?
As reader Tom S. pointed out in Smack this morning, Mike Brown sent the dogs after Wade when he was out on the perimeter, trapping him in an effort to get the ball out of his hands.
“He put that trap on Wade in the 4th and totally took him out of the game,” wrote Tom S. “Mike’s one of the best defensive coaches in the game and he proved it last night.”
My apartment in Seattle is right in front of a Metro transit center; in other words, dozens of city buses stop in front of my building every day. Yesterday, I stepped out to get some lunch and I saw this on the back of Route 140:
Brian Scalabrine on the bus…
The Pistons will get a slight boost in their hunt for a third consecutive W tonight as they go against a ‘Melo-less Nuggets squad. It’s not like Anthony is injured though – Denver suspended him for one game because of an “in-game transgression” during the Pacers game.
Though no one knows officially why he’s being forced to sit out, the Denver Post is reporting that ‘Melo refused to come out of the game against Indiana, thus angering Mr. Lovable George Karl. Read More »
You all know the saying: Everybody in the NBA makes a run. But damn, can nobody hold a fourth-quarter lead anymore? Over the weekend it seemed half the League’s games involved teams blowing leads in the final minutes—some as big as 15 to 20 points. Last night was no different, as even one of the League’s best individual finishers saw his team fall apart down the stretch. In Miami, D-Wade (41 pts, 7 rebs, 9 asts, 7 stls) had the Heat up by 11 midway through the fourth after he picked off a pass intended for LeBron (42 pts, 8 rebs, 6 threes) and threw down a breakaway reverse jackknife. Right after that, though, LBJ and Mo Williams (30 pts) took over, sparking a rally during which the Heat went 2-for-17 and lost the lead in the blink of an eye. With Cleveland up three and about 40 seconds left, LeBron delivered the dagger when he re-created his monster dunk from the Celtics series last year; turning Jamario Moon into James Posey and J.O. into KG. Forget the score at that point; LeBron punched it so hard, Miami’s spirit would have been broken even if it only put the Cavs ahead by one … Read More »
