Pat Ewing to Dwight: “I Woulda Gave You 50″

If we take Dwight Howard‘s word for it, Patrick Ewing has now said two things recently: (1) “What’s up Ryan?… AAAAAAAAAHHhhh!!” and (2) “Man if I was playing against you back in the day, I woulda gave you 50.”

    “Drop & Gimmie 50″ – Mike Jones

  2. POPPI GEE says:

Hmmm with the array of moves 5′s had in the Admiral, Dream and Ewing error, he prolly would have gave Dwight 50.

Still if the game came down to the wire, even with Pat’s 50 they would have still lost if he took the last shot.

  3. kevin k says:

pat couldnt even give Luc Longley a 50…

  4. Shrink This says:

At this stage in Dwight’s career, I think that pat and hakeem could give him 50. That being said, when DH peaks, this might not be the case.

  5. the rocket cat says:

    Hakeem, yes. Ewing, no.

  6. Ian says:

rocket ill add something to that
hakeem yeah david yeah shaq yeah ewing??? did he ever score 50??

  7. knickssux says:

Ewing sucked back in the day and sucks even worse now. He was lucky he made it to the otherside of the court before the shot clock was up. He needs to shut his yap.

  8. Big Shot BOB says:

    Ditto what Ian said.

  9. AY says:

Get out of here, Patrick. You scored 50 twice in your life. Just because you can do it against JR Reid and Joe Klein doesn’t mean you can do it against someone who can actually play. Maybe if it was 2 hour quarters instead of 12 minutes and you had unlimited fouls, you can get 50; but Dwight would get 150. Patrick, I watched you play, you sucked. You got spanked by Kareem, you got spanked by Hakeem, you got spanked by shaq, you got spanked by alonzo, you got spanked by the Admiral, and you got rejected by mugusy bogues. Lets not mention that you were soft as baby wipes and you walked around like a stray cat if you didn’t have Oakley within 20 feet. please keep this trash in your mouth, let shaq do the talking. please.

    AY thats funny

and no way he’d give dwight 50. he’s slower than my grandma on opium.
non of the centers would have given him 50 if you ask me. dwights a freak athlete and a good defender. fugedaboudit

  11. Dragonyeuw says:

Hakeem would drop 50 on him. If Hakeem could score on the Admiral and Shaq when he felt like it, he can do it to Dwight.

  12. Bron42 aka Had Springs Before Slamball says:

Hakeem wouldn’t drop 50 on him, but he’d have him fouled out by the second quarter….

as for ewing…the dunk pippen had on him where he over ewing and the camera showed the fear in ewings eyes…nough said

  13. Jerome James' Gut says:

Come on, ex NBA guys love talking about “back in the days”. Having said that, at this stage of D12′s career, any center having a relaible J 15 feet and beyond would kill him (name one today). Ewing (at his peak) had a wet J, and Ewing (at his peak) just wanted it more than anyone else on the floor. His bad knees are testaments to this so I think Ewing would win the match up. I don’t know about Ewing dropping 50, but any self respecting ex NBA Top 50 player should be able to say that (even if it is slightly in jest).

(Btw, Pippens dunk on Ewing was not as bad as it looked on the camera angle. It only looked bad because Pippen stood over him after the dunk. Ewing had to challenge it, but he did not get dunked on, like Jordan dunked on Ewing, for example)

  14. the cynic says:

    50 layups? Shot attempts?

  15. F. Breezy says:

ROY ’86, All NBA 1st team ’90, All NBA 2nd team 6X, NBA All Defense 2nd team 3x, 11 x All star, 2x gold medalist, NCAA basketball tournament Most Outstanding player, Naismith player of the year, NCAA champion, Hall of Famer, 50 Greatest NBA player in History and yet u idiots try to play him as if he wasn’t a baller…..

  16. ghostface says:

No doubt Admiral/Dream/Shaq/Ewing would be able to drop 50 on Dwight. Dwight is a great help/weakside defender but right now doesn’t have the footwork to be a great low post defender. Its not his fault because unfortunately the low post game no longer exists in the NBA today. Remember back in the day when defense was actually allowed in the NBA?

  17. ekstor says:

Assuming what AY (#9) said is true, you guys talking like Ewing could drop 50 on DHoward need to put down the peace pipe… let me repeat what AY said… Ewing has scored 50 twice in his career… once against JR Reid (who was about 6’9″) and Joe Klein (who’s almost as quick and nimble as Jerome James is right now). If you’re saying that DHoward is on the same low-level defensively as those two… you need to recheck your head.

  18. hucklebuck says:

knickssux needs to shut his yap

ay needs to keep HIS TRASH in his mouth

Bloke-Dwight is not that good of a one on one defender, only helpside.

    Jerome James’ Gut-I agree 100%
    F. Breezy-I’m on ur side
ghostface-good point with him not being a good low post defender right now

WITH ALL OF THAT SAID-I don’t know bout 50, I’ll say close to 40. Howard would be in the popcorn machine a lot cuz Ewing had a 15-foot jumper, a hook, a turnaround, and a good back to the basket game. Aside from Duncan and Shaq, Howard doesn’t have the experience at this point to consistently defend Ewing in his prime. He’d end up in fould trouble.

  19. The Ghost of Patrick Ewing Past says:

Patrick Ewing’s best days were at Georgetown. Yes, he had a good offensive array for a 7-footer, but his knees went too quickly for him to ever be the defender he was in college.

Patrick Ewing’s knees = Greg Oden’s face. Each makes the owner look about 50 years older than he is.

And don’t forget when you consider Ewing’s points, nobody, and I mean nobody, got more steps from the refs than Patrick Ewing.

Then again, Ewing does have the best commercial on TV right now. “What’s up Ryan?”

  20. John Adamo says:

I’d spot dwight 50 in a game to 50 and still win …
