Barack Obama Will Light You Up
We’re not sure if President Obama felt the pressure to go above and beyond for the UConn Women’s National Championship squad on their official trip to the White House in order to make up for the most ridiculous story of the year, but this is still cool as hell:
Moments after congratulating the University of Connecticut’s women’s team for winning the national championship, in front of the South Portico of the White House, President Obama hustled the team over to the outdoor half-court, away from reporters and cameras. The president prevailed in a brief, impromptu game of P-I-G with a few of the players.
“His shot’s a little unorthodox, but it goes in,” UConn Coach Geno Auriemma said. “He’s got a little bit of that swagger.”

now onto other things for all the “we inherited this problem” you better go check your facts, obama was one of the largest anti-oversite people against oversite of fannie and freddie which is the major reason we are in this mess. both bush and mccain fought to get MORE oversite. clinton is the one who said “hey we should make it so that every man and woman can own a house they cant afford.” on top of that, all this spending, you also better go get your facts right on that, how many of you live in upstate newyork? because they got about 3 mil for “grape research” (sounds like good spending to me) how many live in rural utah? cause they got 2 mil for “swine odor research”. how many live in austin texas? because they are getting 1 mil for a frisbee golf course.
bottom line is obama is spending more money the gw bush, clinton, ghw bush, reagan, carter and every other president IN HISTORY has spent COMBINED! yet you still think you are getting a tax cut. hate to tell you but your taxes are already going up! while you might get $400 back on your taxes every year, if you smoke your tax went up 1000%, if you drink it is fixing to go up about 300%, and once he passes his “cap and trade act” your fuel (heating and auto), your electric, and your food are about about to go up. electic alone (per mr obamas own research) is about to go up $3000+ per year per family due to cap and trade.
this is just the begining of the “i told you so” i got comming for all you obama lovers. all those of you who said “fuck you my presidents black” instead of “my president knows what the fuck he is doing.
now for the record, i liked GW bush in 2000 (just like everyone else considering his aproval was over 60% after 100 days and over 85% after 9/11) but i stopped liking his policies not long after, i voted for him in 2004 because he is/was better then john “under the bus” kerry. i have NEVER talked shit to anyone talking shit about him, but all you obama supporters want to talk shit to me about not likeing a man who is spending my 6 yr olds KIDS in to an unsermountable debt for things that do not work.
if you think this spending is helping your economy, you better go ask japan how it worked. no country has EVER spent its way out of ressesion (look it up)

BOB, nope i dont know it all, but history, and common sense would tell you that if you want to fix the economy, you continue to drive it further into debt. you dont raise taxes on the people who create jobs, you dont raise taxes on anything, you cut taxes. and if you are dumb enouh to thing the $400 a year he has signed into law is gonna help, then look at one of the failures of bush. bush sent my family $1200, how much did you get last year in his “stimulus package?” that didnt stimulate anything, so what makes yo uthink $400 a year is going to?
tax breaks are the only way HISTORICALLY that countries have gotten out of recession.
think about this, HISTORICALLY recessions last 18-20 months, we are going on 27 months. you cant expect people to spend money when they dont have any, give them some back. i am a supporter of a flat tax. flat tax means you are only taxed on what you spend. this way, if i make $1,000,000 and you make $100,000 a year, then i dont have to pay nearly halfagain what you pay in taxes. in a flat tax if i make 1 mil, then i only pay taxes on the % of that i spend. now you cant get around this by not spending because everything is taxed. (this is just a rough basic example)
history is all we have to go by, you can “dream” all you want but history doesnt lie.

this isnt the 1st resession we have faced, and it is certainly not even remotely close to the great depression. spending is what made the great depression so bad, it was only WW2 that brought us out of that. japans “lost decade” was worse then what we are facing now (or at least equal too) we have a more effective military, more “friends/allies” then ever before (outside of WW2). the only thing we are facing now that we have never faced before is a black president, and i would hope we are a mature enough country to not think of the color of his skin as a problem. hell it was WORSE times that led to the creation of the very things that have caused what we are in now (the creation of fanie and freddie which where created by the govt)

now notice that the numbers start dropping when reagan passed a bill cutting taxes which took ful effect in 1983.
also keep in mind that while you guys bash bush and say he fucked us and cause this, look at the data, his unemployment numbers where as low (and lower) then clintons dropping to 3.8-3.9% at one point, and averaging about 4.7-5%, now that said, unemployment has jumped at the fastest rate since december, ironically enough right after obama was ellected, and continued to rise at a steady .4-.5% per month under him while average unemployment increase was .2-.4% the year before his election. that said he continues to come on tv and tell everyone that things are turning around. LMAO really?
how about all the blasting mccain recieved for saying “the fundamentals of the economy are strong” and obama is praised for saying “the economy is fundamentally strong”c i smell hypocracy all over this man and his deciples/followers.

maybe you should go look for private donation. things like red cross, unicef and so on. the total “none governmental donations” topped more then 700 million, putting the us donation at 1.4 billion+ while all ASIAN countries COMBINED topped 146 million dollars. now look at my other point, which you helped me make, japan donated 600 mil to tsunami relief, yet only $500,000 to katrina/rita relief.

obama should not have been on an appology tour for anything. the usa has NOTHING to appologise for to anyone. he should not be bowing to kings of other countries (no president in history has and should not), he should not be making friends with those who want to kill us the most.
you know his admin sent millions to palestine to help repair the damage done by israel, yet offered no aid to israel. israel next to britan is our biggest alie. thats like your best friend getting attacked, then when he beats the shit out of the other guy who attacked him you walk over and help the other guy up, brush him off, and buy him a drink leaving your friend on the ground bloody.
all in all, the 1st 100 days is a bust IMO he has accomplished nothing to help this country with his problems, he has done nothing but try to make himself more popular. employment is increasing as fast or faster then before he was in office, he is spending more money then any president in history combined. he is running up the debt faster and larger then any president could imagine, he is expanding govt at an exponential rate, while bush increased it, obama has made bush look like small fries so far.
so again, tell me where i am wrong (other then nitpicking % numbers) tell me where we have not heeded the call of ANY other country for help. tell me where we have not saved the calling countries ass in the process. show me where i am wrong. you cant bottom line.

i also served this country in the military, and while i respect the office, i do not agree with the policies of the man in the office. if asked to return to service i would absolutely do it but not out of respect for the man but the office and THE COUNTRY. a lot of people (especially military people) make the mistake of accepting the man for the office or the country itself.
the problem with the country on a very SIMPLE level is supply and demand. the problem boils down to to much supply not enough demand. again this is at its simplest form.

so where is the flaw in my (as you say) FACT BASED rhetoric? the FACTS you can not dispute. the FACT that spending is not going to fix the economy, and pork barrel spending is even worse. the dems have passed pet project that have been deneyed stemming all the way back to bush sr, yet they are ok to pass now, during one of our hardest times? as for that rhetoric “statements that only serve to promote underlying racist thoughts” this is where you are the farthest from correct. to be totally honest, racism is the farthest from the problems that conservatives have with mr obama (oh sorry if your offended at that, PRESIDENT obama, does that make you feel better?)
bottom line, my FACTS are undeliable and indesputable. and while 100 days is a short period of time it is historicly the most IMPORTANT time in a presidency.

FACT has shown that gitmo and the techniques used there HAVE stopped or detered attacks. and on top of that the the majority of men there have been shown to either have major roles or mastermind large attacks against this nation. that said, why would you want them roaming freely to even attempt or think about the attempt of action against us again. how about the family of the men who died in the USS COLE bombing? obama released the mastermind, basicly dropped charges against him. was this better for our security? what happens with sheik mohammed (you know the man who admitedly mastermind 9/11) should we just let him walk?

while i think it is cool for the girls to play ball with the president, i dont think it is cool that he has that much time on his hands. just like i didnt like bushes “vacations”. so is obama going to play some football with the stealer? is he going to play catch with the winners of the world series? hell maybe my son can go play soccer with him considering they just finished an undefeated season over here in houston.

Real quick: Did Gitmo prevent Oklahoma City? The Bombing of the USS Cole? Those two terrorists attacks where on US soil and abroad. Gitmo is an excuse stop it if you are military you know that. So you are saying the spending is excessive. I didn’t like the Wall Street bailout but that was on President Bush’s watch and the rest of the spending was begun there as well. The current spending to try to help American Blue collar companies is bad according to your logic. Let’s be serious this is a hoops site. The GOP was fine when they were asked to bailout AIG which President Obama has been very critical of and rightfully so. Once again, America is in bad shape because of the shipping out of jobs. When a country no longer has supllies created in their country, and they rely on a credit based system for the largest economy in the world, then you are going to have problems. But let the GOP ad some Democrats tell it, the world was falling apart because of Dems. GOP has been in office longer than the Dems in the last 30 years. So look at your facts, and if I really wanted to get into this I would research and bury you, but we are just bantering. The fact still stands you are resting on rhetoric, the same rhetoric that keeps this country divided by both race and class.

While the lending problems led to a faster failure of the economy, as I stated earlier economic collapse was forecasted by economists for years. But once again let’s be serious the lending problems are tainted by racism and classism that has been the foundation for the mulititude of problems in America (to detailed to go into but you know what I’m saying). As you know, since you are so intelligent, Blacks who were the primary targets in subprime lending, were barred from purchasing housing by both defacto and dejure laws historically. First generation homeowners, just like first generation anything(ers), will always make mistakes. You know this. Does this justify the poor borrowing habits? No, but to attack people who are/were first generation homeowners is almost hypocritical considering these people were only pursuing the American Dream. Now let’s look at the numerous people who were flipping homes, these were not the people being attacked by guys like you. The flippers honestly were the problem and the selling of the loans by the banks, both white collar problems were worse for the economy than any first time homeowners loan. Since you brought up capitalism you know that if a person can make as much money as possible they often will at the expense of the customer, not to the benefit of the customer. While Fannie and Freddie sped up the failure of the American Economic system, the simple fact and since you like research go ahead and research this, is that the exporting and failure to create new technologies and products is the primary cause of the failure of this economy. The credit based system is tragically flawed. This is not a dem or GOP problem, but an economic issue that President Obama has a chance to actually repair. But the constant attempt to simply repair the current system will not fix the economy only place a band-aid on the wound. Look at the timeframe that the US began exporting the production of electronics and other goods and it coincides with the slow decline of the US economy. Name one pair of shoes that are made in America. Name one hair care product that is made in America. Name one consumer electronic product that is completely assembled and made in the US, I could go on. Even steel is being manufactured in China! Here in lies the problem.
Your rhetoric about lending and people buying homes is still a veiled class and race based attack. Your argument about Gitmo being a failed policy for President Obama is bull. Leave it up to you the Spanish Christian Inquisition is righteous while the Muslim Jihad is an abomination. It is this attitude that has led the US into the territory of being the most hated country in the world and helped us lose our status. While we will never be able to completely move away from the credit based economy, if the government actually spends and allots the funds for the creation of new jobs (high speed rails, green techonologies), in Detroit and places like Kentucky were factories are dying, then the US could begin to produce goods again and offset the credit based economy. If you find something to argue here, you are simply looking for an argument.

you are correct, things are being manufactured over seas and imported in. bush tried to slow this at one point, again in my busienss i know because he placed increased tarrifs on imported steel. BUT ULTIMATELY it was less expensive to buy steel from india (never bought any from china) or mexico, or s korea with an increased 15% tarrif then to buy american. why do you think that is? hmmm unions? this is the problem with the manufacturing industry as a whole in the USA. unions are a LARGE portion of the rising cost of things made here. case in point, GM/ford/crysler all pay an average of $78/hour to uaw employees. this includes breaks, benefits, and pension (short version, you get the point im sure). toyota has a plant in San Antonio (i have several friends who work there, people i have known my whole life) and they are none union and recieve all the benefits, hours and pay scale but toyotas hourly rate is closer to $40/hour. now why is that? could it be the union bosses getting fat? could it be the outrageous pensions gm and the like are paying uaw members retired 25 yrs ago? it surely has nothing to do with manufaturing.
i have no issue with spending money to create jobs, and when obama actually does it on a serious scale i will aplod him but as i have seen his intention is to increase his popularity and fame more then help the struggling workers. again as an example, he wants to increase taxes on “the rich” as he has said from day one of his campaign. now if a company is strugling to stay afoat (like say GM) why would you consider raising its taxes? my company as an example, until last year we made well over 250k a year (more then 1 mil actually)and i did it with my own money i worked my ass off for after coming out of the army, and i didnt ask for assistance from anyone but the bank where i took my knowlege and forsite and asked for a loan (which was paid off the 2nd year of business even though it was a 10 yr note) i mortgaged my house (i to am a 1st time home buyer). my company is totally liguid even though i have about $100,000 in accounts recieveable that will more then likely never be collected. so why is it that i should have to pay more in taxes so that someone who does not have my work ethic can enjoy an additional $400?
obamas “stimulus” bill was not a job creation bill, there is hardly a thing in it that would create more then a few hundred jobs at best a couple thousand. i mean $30,000,000 to referbish a single govt building? how is that stimulus? i am in construction, so i would say that job MIGHT creat 50 new jobs, considering the contractor awarded the contract would have to already be stafed to even be considered for the project.
i can go on with problems in obamas spendulus bill but i digress

Obama, like Bill Clinton, was popular and people liked him. Does that make him the best president as far as policies? No. GWB was not nearly as popular and people werent convinced he was really intelligent. Does that make him the worst president as far as policies and decision making? Not nearly.
But there is something to be said about leading a group of people who are confident in your abilities to lead them.

yes iagree there is something to be said about being popular, but there is also a time when you have to stop campaigning and start leading. the sheeple will tell you how great it is to have a president who likes to be a “regular guy”, GW was one of the least popular presidents ever but nobody can deny he was a “regular guy” for the most part. i dont find obama to be a “regular guy” and i dont see how so many people can. he is popular because of the color of his skin, and how well he reads a teleprompter. english, the biggest factor you are missing out on apparently, look at the cross section of who those 20 people are. i have had 10 of those people blatantly make a race issue out of it so we will go there, this site (and basketball in general) is inherantly populated by black people. now that said look at the latest poll results where 96% of blacks are extreamly pleased with obama. is there a race factor in there? this thread has also shown that blak people can be as racist or more racist OR believe they have been discriminated against for the slightest thing (in this case a white man who disagrees with their black president).

bottom line, i do not discriminate against anyone due to color or race, i dislike the president because of his policies. as an example, his latest BS call, he is going to make the sentencing more “equal” for possesion of crack and powder cocaine. so will he be letting crack heads/dealers out of jail earlier or will he be keeping the powder cocain guys in longer?
what that boils down to is race, it is fact that something like 85% of crack convictions are black, while i believe it is 60%+/- of powder convictions are white. now crack is MUCH more addictive there for much more dangerous. its almost like compairing getting your ass beat to getting shot.
