The Washington Wizards are walking, stinking proof that the Yankees/Red Sox Strategy — spend more money, get more wins — doesn’t always work. Having re-signed Antawn Jamison and Gilbert Arenas to $160 million worth of contract last summer, the Wizards will spend this summer working out Lottery picks, as they’ll finish with the East’s worst record (18-61 as of today) and have a good shot at the No. 1 overall pick.
Caron Butler isn’t standing for a repeat. Read More »

Andray Blatche is totally justified in throwing an “end of season” party before the season actually ends. It doesn’t even matter to me that he’s throwing this party on April 12th, the night before the Wiz play the Raptors. If you’d been on this Wizards team for the entire season, hell you should be allowed to drink before the last two games.

First Mark Cuban and Shaq tweeted their way into a trade conversation. By all accounts, it seems like the Diesel initiated the conversation, and it’s a generally one-sided interest. But while Cuban put some of these rumors to bed, he stoked the fire on another – much more ridiculous – trade rumor:
Get Chris Paul from the Hornets by bailing them out of a troubling financial situation.

A few weeks back I received a Facebook friend request from someone named “Charles Charles MaGalls.” Never heard of the guy and ignored the request, but did notice two things: 1) His profile pic featured him sitting poolside with two bikini-clad women and 2) His status mentioned something about playing Dwyane Wade 1-on-1.
Amid the connections coming in from people I haven’t seen since the 4th grade and basketball industry people, there are the occasional random characters sending requests (Such as the recent flood of other people named Patrick Cassidy from around the country, including one who is a magician. Really? Really?). And it wasn’t until the following email hit my inbox that I thought of Charles Charles MaGalls again:

LeBron won Eastern Conference Player of the Month in March. Chris Paul won the award in the West. LBJ put up 28.2 ppg, 8.9 rpg, and 8.4 apg. CP3 went for 24.2 ppg, 10.9 apg and 5.4 rpg. But amazingly, there might be someone else who had a better month than both of these guys.

It turns out that Playboy Mansion rehabilitation isn’t a bad idea after all. Andrew Bynum came back from a 32-game hiatus, some of which was spent with a playmate on his shoulders, looking like he’d been spending his time training down at USC with Pete Carroll. It wasn’t just the Matt Leinart knee brace – it was that Bynum seemed even stronger than he was before his knee gave way. Read More »
