“Put the gloves on ‘em and let’s see who really wants to go at each other!”
In case you missed it yesterday, here’s the video of Ray Allen swinging an elbow at Anderson Varejao‘s garbage. We love Ray, but we’re not sure how it works out with him fighting 6-11 Varejao.

There are physical players, and there are dirty players. Anderson Varejao is definitely a dirty player.

This will be an interesting series if KG gets back.
Sideshow Bob is a punk, so I’d put my wager on anybody against him. He’d just flop his way out of the fight.

The only really dirty play I saw here was Ray’s elbow to the cojones…

Mr. A says:
Is it just me or does Ray appear to not even try to escape Varejao’s arm grip, which apparently is stickier than seamen?
Ray gladly went along for the ride.
I don’t care what anybody does though, a grown man never hits another man in the balls. Especially somebody a decade younger than him.

Yeah Varejao’s such a dirty player…I mean he just viciously attacks Ray Allen’s elbow with his balls.

sweetv0mit says:
wow.. no reaction from varejao? jeeze did ray-ray miss? that was a clear elbow nut shot and varejao had no reaction to it? i would have dropped down in 2.5 seconds if that happened to me.. i guess this proves that varejao’s only acting tough and got no balls, pick someone your own size brotha

LOL @ mules:
I sorta agree that Varejao is a flopping mess, but what does that tell about Ray Allen, stooping to the level of a so-called ‘dirty player’ and taking a shot to the balls?

BERN BROGDEN says:
Ray got caught under Andy’s arm, got flung to the ground like a boogie and reacted.
You only aim for the nads when you’re backs against the wall or you’re facin’ near-certain death.
That situation didn’t qualify for either.
It qualified for…
“AY YO’ DAWG! GET YA ARM OFF–CHILL. WHAT??? AYYY YO. HAND ME A RUMBLE RIGHT F&^%N’ NOW!”
(later in the fight)
“YEAH, CAN’T FLOP WITH ME GRIPPIN’ YOUR GOLDI LOCKS.”
(later…with Ray on the ground…after some Lithuanian and Portuguese ish-talking rubbish)
“WHO HIT ME????”
(ANDY and Z give each other HIGH FIVES)

Typical Celtics Garbage. Intentional groin shot.
“Penalty? Uh, it’s the Celtics and they don’t have KG. Just a warning will do…”
Think Allen Iverson would be able to live that one down? Reggie Evans gets bad publicity. Ray Allen gets a total pass despite the obvious intentional nut shot. Big surprise.

nao_diga says:
Questions:
Why is Ray Allen in the low box on a free throw?
Why does he keep pushing after the ball has gone through the net? The ball has already bounced once before Varejao spins him around?
Why doesn’t he just bend his elbow (while Varejao is spinning him around, before he goes down)? If he had, Varejao wouldn’t have had any leverage to throw him down.
At least when AV flops, he’s trying to get a charging call, not trying to start a fight.
But basically, just another Sunday afternoon in the NBA.

POPPI GEE says:
First someone tell Mike Brown that you can dress-up and walk around all day long and even talk to the refs, but we all still know you can’t really coach.
2nd why was Ray trying to rebound with this dude in the first place. “Mouse in the House”. You knew from jump that Ray was gone get slung.
3rd after Ray gets slung in a Do-si-do square dance manner, it just gets weird. He threw the elbow shot and it looks like AV actually tried to “CATCH” his elbow with his legs and hold his elbow in there with his sac.
They should have both been ejected on nastiness and gayness alone.

I love how Jeff Van Gundy called out NBA players and their behavior in and around most ‘fights’.
I’d love to see what would happen if for once the refs just stepped out of the way. It would be mass confusion…
Of course JVG’s biggest contribution to an NBA scuffle resulted in him humping Zo’s leg…

Sometimes I do wish that they implemented hockey rules. There might be less fake scuffles. In hockey, there is no trying to be a fake tough guy; otherwise they’d be called out.

POPPI GEE says:
@TheGreatGatsby
I don’t think hockey rules would work. Don’t get me wrong, I see what you are saying and I am the first to want to put some changes in the L.
Still, and I might get cooked for this, being of the cultural dominance I don’t think hockey rules would turn out for the better.
See, I guess you can call it pride, wanting to be the alpha male to much from being down so long or some other reason but I would say many black men don’t tend to just fight and let it go afterwards, especially in a public forum.
Double especially if a dude just takes a loss in the fight big time. Then you looking at after game fights in the tunnel, parking lot, later that night in a club and so on.
I mean in hockey they fight and let it go, now how they do that exactly is cool and kinda weird, cause most dudes I know just don’t let it go so easily. Again I think it’s more of a cultural thing. I can’t go drink beers with a guy that just whipped my a$$ or attempted to.
Then you looking at guys like Stephen Jackson and Lamar Odom coming off benches and it would just turn into a fiasco to let dudes “just fight”.
While I do agree it would seperate the real from the fake, it would probably hurt more than help.

Verajao should have gotten punched in the face.
he could have just let go even if Allen put his arm under, or he could have just pushed it away.
Allen’s elbow was justified cuz he was pulled down.
Interesting thought as to what would have happened if Garnett was there.

im taking exception to Poppee gee. I’m from Nigeria and there is no cultural bias to honor, if home boys playing hockey kicked each others asses in the game and had a beer afterwards that is more testament to them as men. Barkley and Jordan did it, Pat and Alonzo did it…. Playing football Ive stepped on an ankle or two, it was a dig in the game but afterwards we’d hoist a pint. “Good game” “feck you” “Next round’s on me….cuz I BEAT YR AZZ!!!”
if people want to bring an in game infraction into a social environment where (surprise, surprise) they have their entourage around them it just loses props on my level
