The Next Derrick Rose
You might have heard that John Wall will be the next Derrick Rose before. He’s a 6-4 point guard with incredible athleticism, great handle, and the ability to hang forever before finishing or finding a teammate around the basket. But this is the first time that we’ve seen him in a truly competitive all-star type event. At the Nike Hoops Summit, Wall put the complete highlight package together against the World team even though Team USA lost 97-89.
Wall’s 13-point, 11-assist, 5-steal performance was one of the US’s bright spots. Findlay Prep’s Avery Bradley (Texas commit) and Xavier Henry also pitched in 21 and 22 points respectively. But the other highly touted Americans, Renardo Sidney, DeMarcus Cousins, and Abdul Gaddy were disappointing. Team USA was destroyed on the boards 48-29, which was perhaps the biggest reason that they were upset.
Wall still hasn’t made his decision about college. Though he was leaning towards Memphis, he opened the recruitment back up after Coach Calipari accepted Kentucky’s monster offer. Baylor, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis, and Miami are all possibilities.

i don’t think he will be on the same level as rose. like wall is athletic but he doesn’t have that breath taking explosiveness only seen in rose and dwade. he wil be good but not as spectacular as rose.

I was there, and Wall hands down was the best player out there. The two big fellas on USA were decent, but besides Wall, Xavier Henry is going to play in the NBA. FOR SURE.
The international team had a guy that looked like Kleiza from Nuggets, and he was dominate, 23 points 16 rebs and 4 assists.

Tangman,
Wall is extremely explosive, borderline recklessly dangerous explosive, meaning he could hurt himself he goes to the hoop so fast and airborn leaving him vulnerable.

@5–Lance got cut from the squad for being a first class dickwad.
Wall is ridiculous. His high school mix tape 2nd only to Lebron’s of anyone I’ve ever seen.
He will look great during his one season at the University of Kentucky, with Patrick Patterson and Demarcus Cousins down low and Jodie Meeks, Darius Miller, John Hood and DeAndre Liggins on the wing……
Cats cut down the nets in ’10.
Mark it down sluts.

@Dime Magazine
The Nike Hoops Summit website says John Wall is only 6’1”. Is Dime being generous for sake of argument or did the kid get short changed on the website?

Spliff,
I’ve stood next to John a couple of times, and he’s definitely 6-3. I’m about 6-4, and we were eye-to-eye, so I would even give him 6-4.

Yeah this guy is more athletic than D-Rose but D-Rose has better body control and his explosiveness is about the same its just their body control that I see a difference in. But John ” The Great ” Wall is gonna be a beast by the time he gets to the NBA but I don’t think he’ll lead his college team to the finals like D-Rose did but he will definitely have a big impact on whatever level he plays on
