The Shot that saved the Celtics

Maybe it’s true that any coach can roll off 60-win regular seasons and win NBA ‘chips with Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen on his team, but Doc Rivers really deserves credit as one of the League’s best coaches at drawing up game-winning plays. Here’s another from last night, as Ray delivers the dagger against Chicago.

Now considering everyone would be covering LeBron, would have and could have Mike Brown drawn up a good play as such?

    No.

His drawing up is LeBron force yourself to get the ball and they will double you and just hit the open man, or you can still take the shot. Do what you feel man.

    COY …yea right lol.

Candidates for coach of the year should have been Rick, Nate, LeBron and Chauncy.

Side notes: Someone is really going to punch KG in the face one day lol.

Dang that lady behind DOC who stands up clappin towards the end of the video got some tig ol bitties!

maybe it’s true that any coach can roll off 60-win regular season games with Lebron James on his team with solid role players that compliments him.

    i hate you ray allen.

Coach Negro is an idiot. Why have Tyrus Thomas play only 20 min when the bulls were getting worked on the boards…. Why is John Salmons getting 39 min with 17 shot attempts… don’t tell me it’s because of his defense, because he falls for every single pump fake by PP

I’m going to get real juvenile on this. This is extreme gayness. Everyone on the celtics should be embarrassed and just retire. EVERY ONE of them. So should the Refs. Joakim Noah and Brad Miller apparently are b!tch’s. How else can you explain the Refs f%kin them the way they did. Noah never slapped the ball out of bounds, that was CLEARLY Ray allen, Ray allen piggy backed Brad Miller for an offensive rebound and got the jump ball instead of a foul, Noah was foul by Glen Davis on that lay-up… I better stop now before I have a brain Aneurism.

also, learn to manage your time outs dumbass del negro. 2 games now where he didn’t have any time outs left at the end of the game.

NOT really sure how DOC is so smart because he ran Allen off a double screen? Please just give credit to Allen for hitting a unnessary 3 in 7 foot noah’s face. That was a bad play gone good. With the way Boston sits in the paint on D-fense you would think BIG BITCH TITTIES DAVIS was KG.. D-FENSIVE 3 IN THE KEY MAYBE?

    Jesus saves

I guess I have to reconsider my assertion that Ray isn’t clutch, but why can’t he be more consistent? The Celtics are going to need him to put up at least 20 pg if they want to go far in the playoffs.

  9. Dagomar says:

I would not want to be anywhere near KG when that shot went down.

  10. Ses says:

If the Celtics lost game 2, the bulls get the sweep at home!!! They dodged a bullet, remember the bulls are not suppose to be in these games especially not winning them. If this type of play continues(from both teams), i have this series going to the bulls in 6.

  11. quick wit it says:

    i agree- refs were GARBAGE
calling it so tight with bulls on offense and “letting the boys play” on D. if it was a blowout it wouldn’t matter, but when every possession counts it sucks how much a bad call can change the outcome

  12. Jay says:

It was a great play by Doc.

KG looked like he was about to bitch slap somebody! …lol

The most hilarious thing about this is I was following along with this game with a bunch of NBA blogger types on Twitter… as Ben Gordon kept hitting three after three, someone said, “Ben Gordon is the new Jesus!”

LOL. Until Ray Allen was like, “Do not take my name in vain. Thank you, and come again. Good night.”

  14. Celts Fan says:

the refs were bad BOTH WAYS. come on now. It was the Steve Javie Show and he knew we all paid to see him last night…

  15. Chris says:

Err, how hard is it to give it to your best shooter and have him jack up a shot with a hand in his face? If anything you should praise Allen for hitting a very tough shot. I didn’t think the play was anything special.
