Candace Parker Creates Another WNBA Superstar
Any excuse to put a picture of Candace Parker on the Dime site is a good one. Yesterday Parker gave birth to her first child, a 7-pound, 6-ounce baby girl. If you didn’t know that Shelden Williams is the father, we hate to be the ones to break the news. But it’s true.
The good folks in Las Vegas are probably setting lines right now as to whether this girl will a) play at the University of Tennessee, b) play at Duke, c) play in the WNBA, and d) be the first woman to complete a 360-dunk.
“Shelden and I are thrilled,” said Parker. “This is such a life changing moment for us, we feel blessed to have a healthy and beautiful baby girl.”
There aren’t any photos of Parker’s newborn girl, or of Parker since delivering. We figured we’d leave you with the photo of her as a glowing pregnant woman from the cover of ESPN the Magazine.

Looks aren’t everything for everybody, but it still is quite a sight…In the reverse for a young guy to marry/make any commitment to a “sub-par” chick is it just as tragic? I think quietly people expect the guy to step out on the woman with more “enticing” ones…
LeBron the Candace Parker Equivalent in the NBA girl is cute and seems sane, but D-Wade’s lady was picked at and eventually he stepped out on her and ruined their marriage. She wasn’t bad looking, but she wasn’t Gabrielle Union/Miami club chick beautiful…Not that that matters a guy will step out on any chick no matter how good she looks if that is who he is.

People, i’m stunned. How can everyone jsut sit there and rail on his looks when that isn’t even the worst thing about him? His game is 20 times uglier than his forehead. He was a horrible draft pick. I watched almost every game he played at Duke and knew he would be mediocre at best in the pros because of his horrible hands combined with lack of height for the positions he tries to play. How could someone paid to make basketball decisions think he was worth a lottery pick in any year.

If they had a male son next would he be pretty much guaranteed to be an amazing Forward in the L from birth. I mean both parents at the pro level and both parents pretty fucking tall. 6’4 and 6’9 the kids would be hugeeee, and would have basketball genes. I sat courtside last summer to watch her play and she is rail thin….toned, but far from husky….that’s why Michael Cooper moved her out of the 4 and put her out on the wing to play the 2 and 3. I’m happy that Candace found a man she thought enough of to marry and have a baby with. Not everyone has a chance to find love. It doesn’t always come in a pretty package either. It seems those pretty ones have a big head and aren’t capable of making a commitment. I wish Candace and Sheldon all the best and to me it doesn’t make any difference who the baby looks, I hope it is in good health. Candace will make a good mother.
