Lance Watch: Florida Enters the Mix

lance-cover-1

Now that Nick Calathes decided to forgo his senior season to make $1.1 million per year in Greece, Billy Donovan has a scholarship up for grabs. After missing out on lightning bolt PG John Wall to Kentucky, Donovan could use a big talent to compete with the supercharged Wildcats in the SEC. The only remaining five-star recruit on the board is Lance Stephenson - and UF just happens to have a void at the three. Head over to High School Hoop for the full story on the Gators’ pursuit of “Born Ready.”

  2. Oscarisalakerfan says:

He’s in the category as a ball hog with a losing pedigree….RICky Davis, Zbo, Stephon…He got cut from the US team….cuz he is a DIVA

  5. Rafa23 says:

of course he is the greatest.
he got cut from the us team and wasn’t invited to several allstar games. he has to be the greatest.

  6. haslem says:

y did Calathes not try to make it in the L b4 going to Europe? he did sign with a talented team and will get to learn from guys like Spanoulis how to improve his game, but still.

  7. Yoooo says:

Lance is on trial for like sexual assault or something. Him being a Diva is the last thing I’m worried about

  8. David_Brandon says:

hey whats up w/ this whole thing at Memphis and how they violated an NCAA rule or something last season? is it in regards to SAT’s or something else? they mentioned derrick rose might be at the center of it all, but its real under the radar right now…

  9. nerditry says:

@Haslem : If he thought he was a late first rounder or early second rounder, this makes sense. Puts him in a position to get a free agent contract right off the bat in the NBA and not have to wait for his rookie deal to expire and then be a restricted FA.

  12. David_Brandon says:

    good lookin, doc.

  13. joshlee9 says:

I go to UF and although I think that Lance is a bit of a diva and a bad temper, maybe UF needs a star player like him to really replace Calathes and get the program into the tourney. We have good pieces like Tyus, Parsons, Kenny Boynton, and others but maybe Stephenson will not be a knucklehead for a year and then somebody in the Association can deal with him

  14. kevin k says:

this kid’s biggest hype was at an exhibition game against OJ Mayo… other than that… he ain’t going no where. future bust.
