Paul Pierce Drops 41 Points (To Oust Cavs)

364 days ago, Paul Pierce erupted for 41 points as the Celtics eliminated the Cavs in Game 7 to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. With only eight points (2-of-6 shooting) in the first half, I figured I’d give Pierce some inspiration in case he happened to be surfing Dimemag.com during halftime. Go Celtics!

Miami’s Vices

air-max-90-premium

Yesterday I told you to come back later to check out the kicks that I copped at Air Traffic Control, so here they are. These crispy Air Max 90 Premiums are nice, and like all other Air Max 90s, super comfortable. But besides just showing you what I was rockin’ in the gym, I figured I’d highlight some of the gems from Virrick Park. Read More »

So yesterday was awesome! I headed over to Virrick Park for the Miami regional of the BK B-BALL BATTLE, and the competition was fierce. From the moment I got there, you could tell that it was going to come down to the last shot. So let me set the stage… Read More »

Whether you loved Kobe Doin’ Work or you hated it, you have to admit Spike Lee is onto something. You’re telling us you wouldn’t watch Stephen Jackson Firin’ Shots or Reggie Evans Molestin’ Grown Men? … Assuming that Spike’s latest joint failed to satisfy your basketball jones for the weekend, fortunately we have two Game 7′s on the docket today: Rockets at Lakers (3:30 p.m. EST, ABC) and Magic at Celtics (8 p.m., TNT). All Eyez on Kobe

Kobe Bryant (photo. Chris Sembrot)

No NBA games yesterday or today, as it’s all about prepping for Sunday’s pair of Game 7′s: Rockets at Lakers (3:30 p.m. EST, ABC) and Magic at Celtics (8 p.m. EST, TNT) … We’ll be previewing the Eastern Conference showdown in tomorrow’ Smack, so for now let’s look at the West. What should you be checking for in this all-or-nothing battle? Aaron Brooks has been the X-factor throughout the series; when the Lakers have contained him, they’ve won. When they haven’t, they’ve lost. Read More »

Brandon Roy on the NBA playoffs, Artest vs. Battier, and his summer workout

Brandon Roy

Yesterday at the Nike Trainer 1 release event in Newport Beach, Calif., I got a couple of minutes to chat with Brandon Roy (who loved his Dime #48 cover) about his recent NBA playoff debut, his offseason plans, and what it’s like being guarded by arguably the two toughest 1-on-1 defenders in the world for two weeks straight. Was This A Cheap Move By Ron Artest?

The Lakers fans at the New York bar where I was watching last night cried out that Ron Artest was being a cheap flop-artist. The Rockets fans commended him for gamesmanship. I love that he tried to sell it to Kobe after the fact by sticking out his tongue to show him that he was bleeding. Or maybe that he burned his tongue eating something hot.

Nike Trainer 1

Nike Trainer 1

And now for your daily dose of Damn-I’m-old pills: This year marks the 20th anniversary of Nike’s famous “Bo Knows” ad campaign. Yeah, that was TWENTY years ago. You remember Bo Jackson in those TV spots, dominating on the football field, in the hockey rink, even on the Indy car track. But what you may have forgotten is what product was actually being pushed. That would be the original Nike Air Trainer, the first “cross trainer” sneaker to make an impact on the market. Read More »
