LeBron Is Gunning For Kareem’s MVP Record

With the fact that King James will be named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player this afternoon at only 24 years old, this got me thinking: How many will LeBron have by the time he’s done playing? Read More »

Pick Me: Jermaine Taylor’s NBA Draft Blog

Jermaine Taylor

Jermaine Taylor is the biggest sleeper in the 2009 NBA Draft.

A 6-4, 215-pound senior from the University of Central Florida, Taylor earned Conference USA Player of the Year honors this year after averaging 26.2 points per game, good enough for third in the nation. While Jermaine prepares himself for the Draft, he’ll be keeping Dimemag.com updated every step of the way with his exclusive pre-draft blog. From his training to his workouts to life on the road, Jermaine will be giving us a behind-the-scenes view of his road to the show. Read More »

Barkley: “Boston Has No Shot At Beating Orlando”

Kevin Garnett

Charles Barkley and Vegas don’t agree about the Boston-Orlando series. The sports books have set the line for Game 1 in favor of the Celtics by 2.5 points. Barkley is setting the Celtics’ odds of winning the series at 0%.

“Boston has no shot at beating Orlando,” said Barkley. “Without Kevin Garnett, (the Celtics) struggled against the Bulls. I don’t think they have a chance and Orlando wins it in 6.”

Should Ben Gordon Get Paid?

Ben Gordon

Remember last summer when Ben Gordon said that he wanted “Luol Deng money” from the Bulls? (It’s kind of ridiculous that such an expression exists.) If he was asking for $70 million then, his pricetag could have only shot up since his 22.8 ppg seven-game stretch against the Celtics. As of right now, there’s no way that Chicago could afford to give him that kind of money. So is it worth restructuring the books to make room for BG? Read More »

The Magic Are Pretty Sure They Wanted To Play Boston

Rafer Alston

Everyone on the Magic congregated at Dwight Howard‘s mansion on Saturday night to check out Game 7 of Celtics/Bulls and the destruction of Ricky Hatton shortly thereafter. Though intrepid sportswriter John Denton didn’t get into which fighter they preferred, he did get at which team they wanted to face in Round Two. Consensus seems to be that they’d rather feel proud of beating “the better team” than taking the easy road. Read More »

Hawks rain on Heat in Game 7; Nuggets keep rolling in Game 1

Joe Johnson (photo. Zach Wolfe)

Game 7 of Hawks/Heat ended up being a(nother) blowout, but it at least offered a helpful reminder of how small the margin for error can be in the playoffs. Early in the second quarter, Atlanta was up by two in what had been a back-and-forth game. Then Flip Murray hit a wide-open three off a scramble for a loose ball, Joe Johnson drained a trey from one step behind the arc, then J.J. pulled up for another triple waaay behind the arc. In the course of about one minute the Hawks went from up being two, to being up 11, and after that it was just target practice. Read More »

Celtics survive Game 7, advance; Round Two starts today

Rajon Rondo (photo. Kozowyck)

After all that had happened in the first six games, you have to imagine even Boston fans would’ve liked to see a more thrilling Game Seven between the Celtics and Bulls. It’s not that the game wasn’t competitive — Kirk Hinrich and Ben Gordon sparked a late second-half comeback and kept Chicago within a possession or two for most of the fourth quarter — but it was like the C’s were Lennox Lewis, keeping the young challenger at bay with a series of long jabs and the occasional big right hand … Read More »

Derrick Rose’s block on the Worst Player in the NBA

If this were like 1999, Scalabrine totally would have dunked on Rose. Of course Scal would have been in college then, and Rose would’ve been 10 years old.
