Was This A Cheap Move By Ron Artest?
The Lakers fans at the New York bar where I was watching last night cried out that Ron Artest was being a cheap flop-artist. The Rockets fans commended him for gamesmanship. I love that he tried to sell it to Kobe after the fact by sticking out his tongue to show him that he was bleeding. Or maybe that he burned his tongue eating something hot.

it was accident nothing intentional, but i guess der is a contact because he is bleeding or maybe he just bite his tounge…anyways, denver thuggets on 6 on WCF(western conference finals)

rlf says:
“Bryant appeared to complain after a timeout to Artest about his dramatic reaction to the play, running off the court, and Artest’s final words in that conversation were: “You’re right.””

Kermit the Washington says:
Yeah man, that was fake as heck. Van Gundy and Mark Jackson were so angry, and I have to side with them on this. Is the League taking a look at this? They need to overturn that one. Even if it was a REAL hit, it shouldn’t have been a tech. Offensive foul maybe. Now it’s like any contact above the shoulders is an automatic tech, even if it’s meaningless.

rlf says:
for being from “the streets of new york” this guy doesn’t act like a man…are the guys from the “street of new york” like ron? i mean, are they looking for others to defend them, and lie about what really happen, because they are afraid of another player?

It’s ronron, with the way the refs have been cheating er…treating him this series, I’m surprised they didn’t just toss him for being hit in the mouth.

Curtis G says:
Kobe did throw an elbow, however, it didn’t connect. I don’t think Ron had to sell it because the ref blew the whistle before Ron went all Forrest Gump. I think the refs were anxious and trying to keep it from degenerating to what happened in games 2 and 3 while Ron, well, who the hell ever knows what Ron is thinking. It was a good game though!
May 15th, 2009 at 1:29 pm
Curtis G says:
Oh yeah, and by the way, it was cheap. But with the fact that he’s been thrown out of two games this series on complete bullsh*t, he’s probably overdue for extracting some type of revenge…

Cheap, WEAK move by Artest..
Cheap, Stupid move by the refs to actually call it..
like i said.. it was a joke last night.. Dont get me started on Scola’s over the back 8 times in a quarter ass.. oh my bad.. they were just playing hard.. what cracked me up even more was after Artest ran off Scola grabbed him and started acting like something actually happened.. ACTORS.. gotta give the Rockets credit.. they certainly pulled out all the stops last night..
Lol watch the two exchange after all that.. Artest can barely keep a straight face..

This must be fucking handled, this maniac should not be on the court. I would love to wear his fake crazy ass out…. I mean Im sure he can scrap a little bit but if your going out of your way to act this fucking nuts, its an act. If you flop, your a pussy ass actor… I would come of the bench and punch him square in his shit…. This is a unsafe, unsanitary, unsatisfactory work place for Mr. Bryant…. In job place would this be alright. This dumb motherfucking animal is not even fit to say ” Welcome to Wal-Mart ” . Can somebody please put him to sleep!

if you look closely (very closely) it looks like his left forearm might have connected with ron’s face.
regardless of whether it did or not, artest is hilarious. the look on kobe’s face is just like “you’re an idiot. why are you showing me your tongue?”

Karonte says:
Kobe really contacts Ron’s face. You cannot doubt that.
Ron’s tongue is bleeding. Either it’s due to the contact with Kobe or he bit his own tongue fast enough. I think it’s because of Kobe.
Ron overactuated but the contact was there and Kobe does this to many times to be casual.

@bsb
ticketmaster will only sell nuggs wcf tickets to people that live in Colorado. its called a proximity restriction. The way they verify that is at checkout, they check the zip code used for the billing address of the card you make your purchase with. If the zip code is within Colorado, they complete the transaction. If not, they kick you out and you lose your seats. I tried three different cards all with a Denver zip code and kept getting the proximity boot. A blog popped up on Denver Post (local newspaper) and tons of people who are Colorado residents weren’t allowed to buy tickets because of the incorrect zip code verifications by ticketmaster.
It was FUCKED and im still steaming.

SVCat says:
Kobe got Ron Ron with a shoulder to the chin. Ron bit his tongue…that shit hurts and probably first reaction was to run it off. The fact is that Kobe was trying to get Ron to get upset and lose his cool. I’m suprised that Ron didn’t do anything about it…maybe he does have half a brain. That was a good game…they need to get rid of T-Mac and bring someone else in, it’s proven that the Rockets don’t need him.
On a second note, how weak do the Lakers look? They are getting their asses dealt to them be an undermanned team who’s headliner is Ron Ron! If the Lakers go after Shaq next year…they get a ring next year.

Dave says:
I get two things from this. Props to Kobe for taking it at Artest and not backing down, not many have the huevos to do that. And props to Artest for playing it cool and not falling for the Lakers tactics of getting him too mad to be effective. Now if at the end of game 7 the Rox are down big, Kobe may want to lay low and stay out of the lane….I’m just saying.
May 15th, 2009 at 3:32 pm
high release says:
That conversation was fantastic! It was like Artest was the little brother who got his big bro Kobe in trouble with their parents for hitting him… Then of course he just wants to go back and play together, looking for Kobe’s approval, ha!

This is more like basketball in the 60’s where teams all had enforcers and bloody lips weren’t even noticed. I’m watching this series and lovin’ Artest.

Big Island says:
Kobe hit him, Ron ran away (a bit dramatic), foul, but no tech. It wasn’t a flop because whenever anyone bites their tongue they flap around like Ginobli.
LakeShow84 – It’s dudes like you that make me have to hate the Lakers even though I live in LA. Thanks man. Good work buddy.

Definitely sold it. Thought it was funny the way he high stepped out there. Didn’t like it, though, because I’d rather them win it straight up instead of getting the benefit of random Ts.
Scola played like a beast last night, though.

Im usually one to side against Kobe on most controversaries, but this one was totally Ron acting. Part of basketball is “selling it” to make it appear as if you were fouled, so kudos to artest for his oscar nominee performance. For christs sake this man grew up in Queensbridge, i kno he has been hit harder than that.
May 15th, 2009 at 7:12 pm
flavur says:
Yeah it was not fake contact but it really didn’t deserve a tech but if ron ron didn’t run away the refs would have tossed him for just standing there next to Kobe with his hands up so yeah he did what he had to get a call which, but it was hilarious that it actually worked.

Phileus says:
I agree with #18, Karonte.
It’s a sneaky move by Bryant to knock his shoulder into a dude while starting to move to a new position. It’s subtle and the refs will never notice it away from the ball.
Artest’s overreaction was “cheap” but just as “cheap” as Bryant’s hit. In other words, both are veteran moves.

Big Island says:
LakeShow – You even have to admit that 85% of the Laker fans are bandwagon fans. I want to like them, but the fans are just so stupid and ignorant that it makes it difficult. I’m not saying all of them are, but most of them.

Before this years playoffs, I always thought Artest is overrated, and he is a bad rapper.
Now, I am completely flattered at how he carries the Rockets without T-Mac and Yao, and how he gives Kobe such a hard time. My view of Artest turned around 180° in only 12 playoff games.
But he is still a bad rapper.

to all those people who say that all the superstars get favorable calls. you guys do know that kobe has more techs (5) than lebron has fouls? obviously some are held to a higher degree. as in lebron isn’t allowed to foul even if he tackles josh smith in the air.

Funny how no one ever gives Credit to Kobe. Name one player in the NBA that would go at Artest and jaw jack with him? Name one? you can say the lakers are not tough, but dont give me that crap when you talk about Kobe. Dude does not back down to anyone and he dont care if they crazy, if they crazy, Kobe might throw even more blows at him. And do you really think LBJ could have done well agaisnt the Artest/Battier tandem? I dont think so, I dont think any player in the NBA could handle those 2 guys checkin them and still get off.
