All NBA Draft Vertical Jump, Bench Press Numbers Released

Blake Griffin, L.A. Clippers (?)

Blake Griffin, L.A. Clippers (?)

Blake Griffin’s 6-10 frame (with shoes) and 6-11 reach didn’t really stand out from the rest of the pack after the first day of measurements at the NBA Draft combine. (Earl Clark’s 7-3 wingspan and Hasheem Thabeet’s 9-5 standing reach had scouts in rapture.) But now that the athletic numbers – vertical jump, bench press, body fat percentage, agility, and sprint – have been released, Griffin takes back his crown as the most impressive prospect.

* Blake Griffin: 8.2% body fat, 35.5-inch vert, 22 reps on the 185-lbs. bench (#2 behind Luke Harangody’s 23 reps), 10.95 agility (by far the best among big men), 3.28 sprint

* Jonny Flynn: 6.3% body fat, 40-inch vert (#1 overall), 10 reps on the 185-lbs. bench, 10.86 agility, 3.23 sprint

* Jrue Holiday: 6.3% body fat, 34-inch vert, 6 reps on the 185-lbs. bench, 10.64 agility, 3.21 sprint

* Earl Clark: 5.2% body fat, 33-inch vert, 5 reps on the 185-lbs. bench, 11.17 agility, 3.35 sprint

* James Harden: 10.1% body fat, 37-inch vert, 17 reps on the 185-lbs. bench, 11.10 agility, 3.13 sprint

* Stephen Curry: 5.7% body fat, 35.5-inch vert, 10 reps on the 185-lbs. bench, 11.07 agility, 3.28 sprint

* Toney Douglas: 5.2% body fat, 32.5-inch vert, 15 reps on the 185-lbs. bench, 10.63 agility, 3.03 sprint (#1 overall)

* Wayne Ellington: 5.5% body fat, 38-inch vert, 13 reps on the 185-lbs. bench, 11.14 agility, 3.20 sprint

* Jordan Hill: 6% body fat, 35-inch vert, 11 reps on the 185-lbs. bench, 12.23 agility (last overall), 3.30 sprint

* DeJuan Blair: 12% body fat, 33-inch vert, 18 reps on the 185-lbs. bench, 11.50 agility, 3.50 sprint

* Tyreke Evans: 7.1% body fat, 34-inch vert, 7 reps on the 185-lbs. bench, 11.81 agility, 3.17 sprint

* DeMar DeRozan: 4.9% body fat, 38.5-inch vert, 5 reps on the 185-lbs. bench, 11.88 agility, 3.31 sprint

* Damion James: 8.2% body fat, 37-inch vert, 14 reps on the 185-lbs. bench, 11.23 agility, 3.09 sprint (#2 overall)

* Ty Lawson: 6.6% body fat, 36.5-inch vert, 14 reps on the 185-lbs. bench, 10.98 agility, 3.12 sprint

* Jodie Meeks: 8% body fat, 37-inch vert, 14 reps on the 185-lbs. bench, 10.96 agility, 3.10 sprint

  1. Rare Air says:

What was Harangody’s body fat measured at??? about 20.2%?

  2. that's whats up says:

    my stats:
    17.6% body fat
    18.5 inch vert
<1 rep on the 185 lbs bench
    1.13 agility
    6.72 sprint

my agent thinks I’ll be a lock with the Grizzlies

  3. lifep says:

Wayne Ellington’s vert is only 0.5 inches lower than DeMar DeRozan…Ell has hops!

  4. Bron42 aka Had Springs Before Slamball says:

the only person it really helped was james harden and blair (who lost 30 lbs)…everyone else was kinda on par with what was expected. and the fact 5 people were faster than ty lawson is kinda bad for him.

@thats whats up…hey 1 rep at 185 still beats durant and austin day lol…the crazy thing is curry pushed 185 10 times lol.

  5. JuiceMode says:

…curious about Tyler Hansbrough’s athletic numbers

  6. fReSh says:

i thin wayne ellingtons 38 vertical leap is KRAZY! i didnt know he has that much hops!
    GO TAR HEEEEELS

  7. mules says:

    Flynn’s got springs!!

  8. Scott says:

Jodie Meeks must have improved his stock, looks like one of the best all around performers with regards to these tests.

  9. Spliff 2 My Lou says:

How the hell did Stephen Curry do twice as much 185-lb reps than Earl Clark and Derozan?

  10. Steve A says:

Surprising how weak these guys are in the chest movements. Granted, they are bball players and have long arms, but still. 185 isn’t much.

  11. Grizz GM says:

    @ that’s whats up

You sound like the player we want, who is your agent?

    great post.

  12. BK2LV says:

    this just in……..twitters finest…

@THE_REAL_SHAQ: thats right i am saying it today and today only, i want kobe bryant to get number 4, spread da word

  13. Big Island says:

It’s official, I am a fatass. I don’t know how legit those numbers are, but my $40 scale shows me at 30% bodyfat. Dammit. I can knock out 20+ on the bench though. It’s been 45 minutes and I am still trying to get through the agility and sprint, but my vert is a solid 3″.

This crap is worse than the NFL combine. If dude can play, he can play.

  14. Pig says:

@5 They are almost the same as Griffins

  15. Soopa says:

    Oliver Miller:
    6′7”
    318 lbs.
    22% body fat
    7′2” wing span

    What a freak! lol

  16. G says:

Damn Curry must be spending crazy time in the weight room

  17. Kudabeen says:

I still feel that reading them is not the same as seeing the guys perform. Who was the guys that pulled up rather than push through?

The sprint speed is all over the place, but I don’t know if that is a big deal. Was it with or without the ball?

Blake Griffin does look like a Cyborg to me and he is only going to get stronger. He is only what 19/20?

James Harden speed and vert was surprising.

  18. Chaos says:

yo, james harden isnt as unathletic as basketball pundits been saying. dude is nba ready…

luke harangody is a fat ass

  19. Jumpman says:

Steph Curry can do 10 reps?!!! How in the-???

  20. dk says:

    Courtesy of Rotoworld,

” LeBron James has been released from the hospital and sent home after having surgery to remove a benign growth in his mouth. ”

Well, we know it aint Kobes dick!

  21. David_Brandon says:

funny how just last year, everyone was talkin about how kevin durant couldnt put up ONE…and dudes buckets.

  22. Tyler Hansbrough says:

    @JuiceMode–
    Here’s my #’s

    8.5% body fat, Vert 34, 18 Reps, 3.27 Sprint, 11.2 Agility.

Not bad for someone who’s been told I aint gonna amount to jack in the L…

Now watch as I kill it on the boards like Paul Milsap

  23. dk says:

@21 Absolute 0 Physical strength couldnt be beneficial to his game.

  24. Taj says:

    Yo Dime,

What about Jermaine Taylor outta UCF??.. You had him right a diary a month or so ago on his pre draft workouts. Where’s his stock at?

  25. Christopher Cason says:

All these numbers are basically useless as it doesn’t translate to what the players will be able to do on the floor.

While interviewing some of the players, I was surprised at how tall I was compared to some of them, but height, strength and other measurements has nothing to do with putting points on the board.

  26. scout says:

some of these bf% #’s are questionable, males have 3-5% essential body fat that surrounds the internal organs, so i’m assuming these are just skin fold caliper subcutaneous fat tests, even if blair lost 30 lbs, there is no way he is only 12% bf. no. way.

  27. Simon says:

These numbers just improved my self-esteem a tad. I put up 235 lbs 12 times yesterday… and I weigh 170

  28. NBADRAFTDAYCOUNTDOWN says:

Seriously… how can you judge these guys on what they bench? So many are disproportionately long in the arms its damn near impossible.

dropping some knowledge on our podcast of the NW tonight – http://www.nbadraftdaycountdown.com – love to hear from you.

  29. JC says:

    James Harden has bounce…

Him (and some other NBA ballers) getting it going at http://www.drewleague.com

  30. Bron42 aka Had Springs Before Slamball says:

Hansbourgh still wont amount to jack..the numbers actually hurt his stock since the numbers say hes an average athlete for his size, but during games he looks below. So hes looking more like a workout wonder. I mean how can he run fast speeds during drills and be slow during games and show almost no agility.

  31. SparkyJ23 says:

Some surprising numbers considering they’ve had what 2/3 months to train specifically for this

  32. wonder_WHY says:

I don´t understand why Harden is being tagged “unathletic”
his numbers stood: 37-inch vert, 17 reps!

And he was faster than D. Rozen…who has a rep as “NBA ready – athlete”

  33. ponky_alolor says:

@ bron42, just to put things in perspective, is hansbrough expected to dominate in the L? I think he’s in the Luis Scola mode, hustle energy guy who is steady and will play decent D.

Beasting is expected from blake griffin so in case Tyler just comes out as an average NBA player I dont think a lot of people would mind. It’s better he gets under-hyped unlike Oden so there are decent expectations.

  34. ponky_alolor says:

What does any think of the Derozan – next Vinsanity or next Birthday Cake Gerald Green?

And yeah dime, how is Jermaine Taylor’s stock doing? I think he can ball.

  35. M Intellect says:

According to this – Eduardo Najera can jump higher then the Wizards Starting Backcourt and as high as Amare Stoudamire…

    LOL

  36. 92021SpurMD says:

What people don’t understand is that these stats have more to do with banging for the boards and defense than they do for scoring points. Everyone has different ways of finding the hole, but these numbers don’t lie when it comes to putting in the grit work (if the player isn’t a stupid foul prone player). I’d like to see what Dennis Rodman’s numbers were, and what his projections were out of college. Bron42 (post 30) just sounds like a Hansbrough hater to me. Dude still found ways to put the ball in the hole against the best and strongest college ballers. Height and extreme length seems to be the only things that bother him.

  37. james p says:

Im not familar with all of these guys. I would of like to know how tall they are. Anyways I notice theres no relation between body fat% and bench press.

  38. parker says:

I wouldn’t worry about Lawson’s speed. He’s got court speed. Some dude just can’t put it in 5th gear unless they have to. See Jerry Rice

  39. Bron42 aka Had Springs Before Slamball says:

@ponky_alolor, O i kno, i was just replyin to another persons comment…And even scola is a stretch since he has post moves and tyler has none. Tyler is a combination of noah and mark madsen.

@92021SpurMD, shows how little ya kno cuz dennis rodman didn’t play in college. And your reasoning sounds stupid. Tyler made a career of bullying smaller guys and sucked in big games against guys who were as strong as him or more athletic. I mean you say “the only thing stopping him is Height and extreme lengths” Thats 98% of the NBA there buddy. and their all better athletes. My original comment was to point out, people get hyped on these stats when i could train half the guys on this site and show them how to put up decent combine stats but if they don’t show the skills in actual games, these stats dont matter. Someone went to me “look, tyler is almost as athletic as blake” meanwhile watch 5 seconds of game tape and you know their not even close. So learn the difference between a hater and someone just statin an opinion kid.

  40. Bron42 aka Had Springs Before Slamball says:

@james p, ya theres no relation between the 2. You can be fat as hell and still do a decent bench since bench press is usually showing abolute strength as opposed to explosive strength..look at nfl linemen, hardly any have low body fat but can put up 225 like 25 reps. the low body fat would relate better to general speed and vert since you need to be explosive for that.

@parker, no ones really worried about lawson, it just sucks that when your MAIN gift is supposedly bein faster than everyone, and 5 people post faster times, it takes alil away of what GMS said made him so special.

  41. 92021SpurMD says:

@Bron42 – Maybe you should check out Rodman again before you say he didn’t play college ball. College is college, whether it’s community level or D-1. On the Tyler comment, maybe YOU didn’t understand what I was saying in my post. I agree with you, kid, that he’s not gonna be a scorer, cause as you said, everyone is taller and has more length. (By the way, if you equate ‘getting to the line against the bigger guys’ as sucking, then you need to fix your perception of the game of basketball) But to say that’s he’s not gonna amount to jack is bull. Cause he sounds alot like Najera to me, or even better, a better shooting Malik Rose, with MUCH better defense on the perimeter. Not great, but who wouldn’t want them on their team. Everyone needs energy and defense son, even I know that defense and energy fall as #1 and #2 as keys to victory. Hansbourgh is gonna be a pest, to everyone’s dismay.

  42. Jon says:

    My stats;
    Vertical: 34
    Sprint: 3.23
    Bench: 8 reps

Age 18. Sound like I’m on track for the NBA?

  43. SLHSBalla23 says:

    here’s my stats

    body fat: 13.2%
    Vertical: 28.5″
    Bench: 1 rep
