NBA Draft/Trade rumors: Rubio to New York, McGrady-for-Amar’e

Tracy McGrady, Dime #27
Closer and closer to the Draft, the rumors are flying in from every angle. The latest has the Thunder taking Ricky Rubio 3rd, then trading him to the Knicks for David Lee.
The funniest part is that New York Post columnist Peter Vecsey claims to have done some digging and he says it’s “bogus.” Coming from the king of bogus rumors, I’m not sure what to make of that. It’s like Spencer Pratt calling somebody an attention whore.
And in the same column, Vecsey came up with this gem of a rumor: The Rockets sending T-Mac, Aaron Brooks and Carl Landry to the Suns for Amar’e Stoudemire and Leandro Barbosa. Do with it what you will.

I wanna see Houston improve but im no co-signing that rumor

ProphetGK says:
That does not make sense at all. Trading T-Mac is understandable, but for a post player? You gotta be kidding me!

S-SiN says:
I fuken hate Peter Vescey. i’d rather watch steaming piles of shit and hear children throw up on it all day than watch this arrogant ass talk.
as for the suns-rockets, i don’t like this trade for either team. OKC could use David Lee and Rubio becomes an instant star under D’Antoni and has the appeal for NY MASS-media and endorsements. but what if he has a couple of off games and gets booed like the 3rd time he hits the floor at the Garden? can he withstand that? he’s already kinda admitted to be homesick, watch his Q&A. i know his english is not that good yet and he’s still like “yeah” to most questions, but still..

JoeCozi says:
I like landry and brooks that trade doesn’t sound too bad barbosa is a lost player with no position unless its track basketball and he can just outrun everybody…Amare Yao and Artest is a nice trio to build around…funny how t-mac has turned into mr irrelevant in that trade rumor..

Rizwan says:
Bad trade for Suns. We just got rid of on guy past his prime. I dont wanna add another. I like Landry and Brooks though. I say keep Amare now. Even if he leaves in 2010, the Suns are gonna get little back if they trade him now. I did like the trade with the Wizards if they gave up Caron Butler and the 5th pick if it would have happened.
Take Earl Clark and be happy with a playoff place this season. Blowing up the team is the worst idea now especially as we stupidly gave up a 2010 1st round pick unprotected as well to the Thunder. I guess John Wall is gonna be nowhere near Phoenix.

BiG ShoT BoB says:
Wow that Suns trade rumor sounds ridic. They already traded Shaq now they’re gonna trade Amare for McGrady? Who would the suns use in the low post? I like it for Houston but Steve Kerr would have to be on crack to make this happen.

i think a post player makes sense for the rockets since yao’s foot is not healed, but i dont agree on giving up brooks. brooks to me is a better than barbosa. as for the knicks getting rubio for lee, does that mean they get hill with the 8th pick? or do they go after big baby or gordat with the mid level and draft a sg?

So are the Suns gonna go with Lou Amundson and Lopez as their starting big men? It’s gonna be ugly year in Phoenix.

Prof. TX says:
McGrady for Amare would be fine, since TMac is mostly looked at as a big expiring contract these days. However, the Rockets proved by taking the champs to seven games that roleplayers are important and Houston shouldn’t give up two of it’s good roleplayers so easily.

Heckler...formerly 'yallallreadyknow' says:
dont ever believe shit peter vecsey says. the game has passed him by and he doesnt have any reliable “sources”. he is soooo out of touch with todays nba….
as for the rumors, no one should even draft ricky rubio. they kid is a bum and all hype. he aint nothing more than a spanish version of jason williams. i just dont see the love affair folks have with him. an 18yr old euro point guard with such high regard?….teams shouldnt even do it to themselves.
hows that andrea bargani character working out?
exactly. thats what international hype gets ya….

Booga says:
Whoever started the rumor of T-Mac 4 STAT should b shot!!! If that trade ever happened tha Suns should be mentioned right up there w/ tha Blazers and Sam Bowie pick!!!
June 25th, 2009 at 1:34 pm
JP says:
actually Bargnani is working out pretty well. He’s turned into a very versatile player and last year became one of the better defensive big men in the east.
Can you at least pretend that you know what your talking about
June 25th, 2009 at 1:38 pm
Kudabeen says:
Trade makes sense for Thunder if they can pull Duhon from the Knicks too.
June 25th, 2009 at 2:12 pm
Danny says:
Bargnani is one of the top defensive big men in the east??!? You sir, do not know anything about basketball. especially when toronto is a HORRIBLE defensive team. JP, bargnani is a bust of a number 1 pick however you see it. His “ceiling” was dirk since he is a european, just like rubio’s is “pistol pete.”
However, if you look at rubio, his “ceiling” looks more like a mixture of harry potter looks with sebastian telfair’s skills.

Ansonious says:
Please not Tracy Mcinjured, Please not Tracy as a Suns fan this would be ridiculous I’m praying this isn’t true Amare should finish this season as a Sun. PLEASE NO T-MAC, PLEASE NO T “I HAVEN’T PLAYED A FULL SEASON IN THE LAST 10 YEARS” MCGRADY
June 25th, 2009 at 2:22 pm
Kobeef says:
Steve Nash will blow his head off if he has to spend the last years of his career with Ben Wallace and T-Mac.
The Rubio rumour to NY makes sense and would be the best option for both sides. Rubio would be a star in D’Antoni’s offence.
June 25th, 2009 at 2:25 pm
PALakerFan says:
Why doesn’t Memphis offer the #2 to Boston for Rondo? Doc and Ainge want rid of him anyway. They could take Rubio as he is a pass-first point. He’s also white and let’s face it, Boston would prefer to root for a white guy. Multiple problems solved.
June 25th, 2009 at 2:31 pm
PALakerFan says:
And why does anyone want Thabeet??? Dude is 7′3″ and got man-handled by 6′6″ DeJaun Blair EVERY game they played against each other. You really want to spend a top 2 or 5 pick on a back-up center?
This draft stinks.

JoeCozi says:
I gotta defend my boy white chocolate…everybody comparing weak rubio to J-will is trippin…aint nobody gotta highlight package like j double u!!! and don’t forget he was the starting pg on a championship team…J-will came in rainin 3’s he might have did too much sometimes but he was establishin himself..but his handles were ridiculous and the off the elbow pass is too much L.O’s face playin d was priceless when he did that…he was a great teamate too…and ask hubie brown about his 4th quarter 3 pt % dude was clutch in crunch time..he gets a bad rap but when you really look at the stats that was my dude and there hasn’t been anybody since to make it look so easy and so flashy at the same time!!…gotta be damn good to get away with all the stuff he did and actually pull it off in the game..i’m just glad for him he got his ring cause no handles no d bibby was a weak trade and if the kings would have kept the penetrator like j dubb they would have been better off…don’t forget they gave a western conference championship team utah all they could handle 2 straight years with J w running the point if not for a ice cold j stockton j who knows what would have happened…point is stop hating on my dude J dub aint been a better substance/flashy player to come in the league since!!

Claw says:
@19 - That’s a solid offer
Who has been hurt more often Amare or McGrady? At first blush I thought Kerr was an idiot, but Amare’s value has been falling they should have traded him last year at the deadline when he had solid value and some decent offers.
They are blowing that team up, if I’m Nash there is no way I sign a deal I’d want to get the hell outta there. That would be an option, NY give up Lee (Chandler) and their pick for Nash, reunited with D’Antonio that would provide some excitement in the Big Apple.

POPPI GEE Mobile says:
Rockets most def. shouldn’t get rid of T cause he is about to be a problem again, maybe not what he was when healthy but still significant. I love the Rockets trying to get Stat (with his whining) but you most def. dont give up Brooks for him. THEY NEED TO GET RID OF YAO. Yao Is just to fragile and fragile during the playoffs just aint gonna get you that trophy.
I think you package Chuck Hayes and Yao And some cash or future picks for Stat or really they should be trying to get a big from the Clippers as a backup or either even get Camby and let him and Yao share minutes.. On the real they should offer Scola to Memphis and use that 2nd pic for Hasheem.
Rockets gotta be stable and consistent at the 5 specially during the playoffs.
