How Tyreke Evans Made It to the League

Up at the Dime/Levi’s draft suite last week, Tyreke Evans came through to get a haircut and take some photos before walking across the biggest stage of his life. And just as it’s been for his entire life, his brothers were there to help him along. We found this clip from E:60 on True Hoop last night, a look back at the foundation of one of this draft’s most unique talents.

in the words of the great Clay Davis…… sssshhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitt

Must be a slow news day

  4. Rafa23 says:

his brothers seem to be great, but should have done something about his shooting form… its just horrible.
it hurts me as shooter to see that kind of thrown-in, its like playing soccer.

  5. sure says:

The unique part about his shot is. In time and w/ work it’ll get better. At 6′5″ and with that release how would you stop it from falling. Almost looks like Bird’s ugly release. It only matters what the end result is. He is going to be one of the steals of the draft. He is going to be like Flip Murray at the 1(PG). Philly guards are SOLID.

  6. mookie says:

c’mon, how can you (team tyreke) say with a straight face that it’s not about the money and that it’s all about l-o-v-e and family?

they do it all for the money and there is nothing wrong about it, but don’t act like you want to continue your day-to-day job, when your brother is about to sign a 3mil/year contract.

  7. Chicagorilla says:

yep Flip Murray is a pretty good comparison, only thing is Flip was undrafted or a late 2nd round(I think)and went the CBA/D-League route. But they will have the same career! Reke is a certified bust. Hope you guys enjoy his moment in the sun, he’ll be joining Lenny Cooke in Rucker park in a few years. lol, i can’t believe you used his name in the same paragraph with Bird. the only thing they have in common is being drafted in the NBA.

  8. Amos Leak says:

THE QUESTION I ASK PEOPLE IS FIRST..DO YOU KNOW THESE GUYS AND SECOND…IS WOULD YOU SELL YOUR SIBLINGS ON A MARKET THAT COULD CHEW THEM UP AND SPIT THEM OUT..NO..I KNOW I WOULDN’T…HE IS WHO HE IS..YOU CAN’T DO NOTHING ABOUT IT…THESE GUYS WANT BEST 4 HIM…YEAH OF COURSE THEY’LL BE THERE GIVING HIM ADVICE WHEN HE STEPS INTO THE CONTRACT WORLD, BUT THEY NOT LIKE THAT AND WOULDN’T TRY TO TAKE OVER THEIR MARKET.

  9. doc says:

Reke a beast and will put points on the board from day 1 and develop into a solid pro and maybe all star status.Wait and see.

  10. Sacto_J says:

First off, as a Kings fan, I was hoping for Rubio. The spaniard filled an immediate need (passing and intrigue,) whereas Evans isn’t quite proven at the 1, though an obviously gifted scorer. I have no doubt that Tyreke will make a valuable addition to any team, immediately. If Westbrook can do it, I think Tyreke is a decent gamble, and if he proves to be a better two, then Sacto potentially has a nice trading chip in K-Mart to fill the glaring hole left when C-Webb’s knee blew out. Amos - “WOULD YOU SELL YOUR SIBLINGS ON A MARKET THAT COULD CHEW THEM UP AND SPIT THEM OUT?” If that kid was my son / brother / nephew, etc. and that was their dream since you can remember, then you help that loved one achieve their goals the best way you see fit. To those saying Evans will be a bust - Ya’ll must be retarded, or have never seen the kid play. On a team like Sacto. he has the potential to push Griffen for rookie of the year. His nickname’s gonna be Mac Buckets…figure it out!

  11. Kobe sucks says:

He’s going to have the same impact n the league than D- Wade for the next years to come.
