The Lakers Championship Parade Won’t Be Fun
Derek Fisher’s vision of a championship parade in which drunken Lakers fans are politely shaking hands and kissing babies could very well become a reality this afternoon. The partially private funded parade kicks off at 11 AM (1 PM, EST), where everyone must be on their best behavior, or else.
“If you throw something at the parade, you will go to jail,” said LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith. “If you set light to something, you will go to jail. If you break anything, you will go to jail.”
Smiling and nodding, only.
The city is trying to facilitate the flow of traffic to the parade. But in a place that is notorious for having the worst traffic on the planet, these helpful warnings just sound comical.
“The MTA says bus service will be affected by the celebration. Expect delays on the following MTA routes: 28, 30, 31, 35, 37, 38, 40, 42, 55, 70, 71, 76, 78, 79, 81, 102, 200, 204, 335, 355, 378, 439, 442, 444, 445, 446, 447, 450x, 460, 484, 485, 550, 714, 728, 730, 740, 754 and 770.”
So don’t misbehave. And don’t take the bus.

Man I went to the parade and as much as i dislike the police I have to say they were not playing around. After that riot they weren’t taking any nonsense. Had everybody on there best behavior. The swat team was out there and everything. Other than that it was great. I drove out there and as soon as I got out the car I could just feel the energy. Everyone was so much more excited compared to the last championship.
