Blake Griffin, the best player and biggest star in tomorrow’s NBA Draft, is a genuinely nice guy. But when he wants something, he will destroy anything in his path to get it.
Blake Griffin looks out of place in a kitchen. Appliances aren’t made for 6-10, 255-pound incredible hulks, especially in University of Oklahoma student housing. Read More »
Before going on the Jimmy Fallon show last night, (we’ll find that clip soon), Blake Griffin shot around at West 4th with the original biggest loser, Jared Fogle in S-U-B-W-A-Y. Someone should put a stop to every corporation playing H-O-R-S-E with their name. Next thing will be a M-E-T-R-O-P-C-S battle among guys who didn’t get drafted to get their cell phone bill paid…
Enough of the rumors; Tuesday saw one actual, real-life NBA trade go down (or at least be agreed to in principle) that seriously impacts the 2010 championship race, and another that great impacts the top of tomorrow’s Draft. The Spurs basically stole Richard Jeffferson from the Bucks, sending them Bruce Bowen, Kurt Thomas and Fabricio Oberto. And since Milwaukee will most likely buy out Bowen and he’ll re-sign with San Antonio for the minimum, the Spurs really didn’t lose much here … Jefferson fell off the map playing for the sorry, never-on-TV Bucks last year (19.6 ppg, 4.6 rpg), but he’s still the guy you remember from New Jersey, only a year removed from being heavy in the All-Star discussion. The Wolves have agreed to trade Randy Foye and Mike Miller to the Wizards for Etan Thomas, “Buckets” Pecherov, Darius Songaila and the 5th pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft — which gives the Wolves the 5th and 6th pick overall.
The Wizards were in the market for a PG in the draft, and were particularly high on Stephen Curry and Tyreke Evans, as well as PF Jordan Hill. Foye is the same kind of combo guard they can pair with Gilbert Arenas in a versatile backcourt, and Miller obviously brings shooting. Read More »
In March, when the Sixers closed out the old Philadelphia Spectrum in a retro-style game against the Bulls, I know I wasn’t the only one who wished the old-school change was permanent. Following almost every NBA game almost every night on League Pass, there are certain teams that I just have a hard time watching simply for aesthetic reasons — uniforms, court, crowd atmosphere, etc. — and the Sixers are usually high on that list.
Today, Philly did the right thing and went back to the old look. The team announced they’re switching to the old logo for next season, and later this summer will unveil a new (presumably old) court design and alternate uniforms.
The What Not to Wear: NBA Draft Edition Hall of Fame is a tough group to crack. Which makes sense, when you’ve got the bar being set by Jalen Rose‘s red pinstriped suit, Chuck Person‘s white-and-pink tuxedo, Samaki Walker‘s fedora, and Karl Malone‘s entire outfit in ’85 that was so country it should have come with a syrup sandwich in the front pocket. No player has spent more time in more mock draft positions than Tyler Hansbrough. From his freshman All-American debut at UNC to now, following his national title senior season, Hansbrough has been projected to go in the second round, late-first, mid-first, and late-Lottery. Now may be knocking on the Top-10, as today he’s working out for the New Jersey Nets, who have the 11th pick.
Hansbrough’s NBA potential has always been a polarizing topic. Some think he can be an All-Star, while others think he’ll be out of the League in four years. Read More »
