Steve Nash Takes On Claudio Reyna & Thierry Henry
What do you get when Steve Nash and Claudio Reyna host a charity soccer game in NYC? Perhaps the best group of talent in the worlds of professional basketball and soccer all on one field.
Next week, the “Showdown In Chinatown” is taking place for the second straight year in New York City’s Lower East Side. The free 8-a-side soccer match benefits the work of Football for Good, a non-profit social business with the aim to bring community-centered football (soccer) to regions that have been ravaged by war.
Representing basketball will be Nash, Tony Parker, Jason Kidd, Grant Hill, Chris Bosh and Raja Bell, while the soccer squad will feature Reyna (US/Former NY Red Bull), Thierry Henry (France/FC Barcelona), Javier Zanetti (Argentina/Inter Milan), Salomon Kalou (Ivory Coast/Chelsea), Ryan Babel (The Netherlands/Liverpool), Giovanni van Brockhurst (The Netherlands/Feyenoord), Mathieu Flamini (France/AC Milan), Ivan Cordoba (Columbia/Inter Milan) and Adrian Mutu (Romania/ACF Fiorentina).
The game will start at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, June 24 in Sara D. Roosevelt Park (Chrystie Street & Houston Street).

Wow.. it’s good to see my country represented by 2 players.. Ryan Babel and Gio van BronckhOrst from The Netherlands… I know Ryan is a big bball fan, he will be pretty amped up to play with the NBA guys..
