Terrence Williams & Gerald Henderson Try And Impress The G.O.A.T.

As if workouts weren’t stressful enough for a guy trying to impress a potential future employer, try playing in front of the Greatest Player of All Time. For the first time during the Bobcats’ NBA Draft workouts, Michael Jordan made an appearance as the team brought back Terrence Williams and Gerald Henderson for a second look.

    you can see G is a golfer…

    Wow

The more I hear about Williams the more I think he may be the sleeper of the draft. Hands the size of Jordan’s?

Wade’s hands are also very large and play an important role in his ability to slash. People didn’t really appreciate how important Wade’s big hands would be until he started slicing up the league. Rajon Rondo is another guy who has used his big hands to his advantage.

  3. Danny says:

seriously, i hope big hands aren’t the only thing your looking at terrance williams. Maybe you should look at the fact his shot isn’t very good, and that henderson had a much much better jump shot. BTW, Wade’s big hands are the main reason he palms the ball and travels on almost every big play.

  4. Kudabeen says:

I think Terrence is being slept on but he is getting much more buzz now. His work with GP the analysis that puts him has the most versatile guard in the draft, he has been shooting well in his workouts. Jordan was impressed with his shooting? We have been hearing how he can’t shoot. I don’t think he is a cut throat scorer, but I feel he is a cut throat baller. He is a lottery pick to me. If his ball handling and passing is as good as advertised why not put him next to OJ and Rudy? Why not put him next to Kevin Martin? Why not have him running with Monta?

I don’t get it, but we’ll see. Who really is better all around than him? I get who Blake Griffin is, but is he going to dominate and be an All-Star in his first 3 years…I don’t see it. Hasheem isn’t going to take time. Evans is going to take time, Harden looks ready, but he isn’t better than Williams to me.

It’s about what people want. Scorer, hype, or all around ball player? I’ll take the latter if I was most teams. Knicks weren’t missing scoring last year. They were missing ball movement and defense. Minnesota with Foye and Terrance Williams in the back court is an upgrade.

    We’ll see…

Here’s the link to the original post, btw. Like I wrote, it certainly looked like M.J. was calling out Henderson for his elbow on Hansbrough.

    @ Kudabeen

You’re right about everything you’re saying, but I damn sure don’t want Terrence Williams getting drafted to any of those teams you mentioned. Memphis has some young talent, but it’s still Memphis, and for selfish reasons (not having League Pass), I wouldn’t be able to see him play.

I’d rather see him go later in the draft, and go to a solid-to-on-the-brink team, and be a valuable contributor off the bench. He’s the truth, and he can do so many good things on the court, which compensates for him not being able to shoot worth a damn (I love the man’s game, but if his jumper is anywhere near where it was last season…).

  7. Kudabeen says:

    Danny:

Are talking about his shot in the clip here or in college? Didn’t look like Gerald was out shooting him in this small sample. Js are developed. Neither player is a natural shooter or will win a 3 point contest. Williams is a better defender over Henderson who in his own right is in the top 5 on ball defenders projected in the 1st round. He is a bigger body that rebounds more, pushes the ball more, facilitates more and is developing at the same pace.

Henderson has more fundamental polish…As he should is daddy is a former NBA champion. Other than that I think Williams is a better prospect.

Also you can under estimate big hands, but that is a huge contributor to being a great finisher and passer. Yes the dribbling and shooting can suffer ill-effects, but it hasn’t. If they aren’t calling the calls on Wade at this point who cares. The NBA continues to be selective with who and what they enforce rules on. If you want to walk down that path MJ isn’t quite the Greatest, Ewing should never be mentioned as one of the top Centers of all-time. Moses Malone shuffled his feet a lot for position, so he ain’t Ish either I guess…

i wouldnt care if Jesus is out there..

    I’d still handle my bizz..

And yes having big hands is IMPORTANT but isnt NECCESSARY.. i heard Amare Stoudemire cant really palm the ball.. And dude is as good a cutter and finisher as anyone..

  9. Kobeef says:

    @Danny

    Seriously, you are an ass.
Before you open your mouth again you should learn a thing or two about the prospects you are discussing. Williams is far an away the best playmaker and rebounder of all the SG’s in this draft.

If you compare Williams to all the PG’s in this draft he ranks second in playmaking (both passing and assist to TO ratio).

Williams has a very, very complete game – and his shot is better than most think. Big hands are an interesting piece of news, but unlike you the rest of us think before we make bold statements about a prospect.

  10. Kudabeen says:

    SoulOnIce:

Agreed. I think careerwise it will suit him to go to better team. I’m just talking about the poor scouting and assesments. I read these things and continue to ask, what are they basing this on?

A great article I read on Earl Clark that was examining where this thing about his motor came from. By all accounts he gives effort, makes the right plays, and makes good reads on when to be aggressive or move the ball. But someone decided that he should be more than he is, so let’s tag him with having questionable desire.

    Let’s say Hansborough isn’t a good athlete…

    Let’s say Curry can’t facilitate…

Let’s say Williams can’t shoot and will be an offensive liability…

Let’s all of a sudden say Rubio can’t play D, when since 14 scouts have been saying that he is a good defender…

Let’s say make Blake Griffin the golden boy with no flaws when the fact is the league is fully of athletic 4s and he is going to have a ways to go before he is leading a team anywhere.

I just hate labels. Go on what the guys have proved. Williams has proved to be a versatile Guard/Forward. Take him as is and make him better.

  11. Kobeef says:

    @Kubadeen

    Good point about Earl Clark.

The Raptors need a SF and should be taking Clark but from what I can tell they have no interest in him because of his apparent “lack of motor”. I don’t buy it. The kid played very well for an elite college team for the past 2 years.

I can see the Raps pulling a “Rafael Arujo” again and picking someone like Omri Cassipi, then watching guys like Clark and DeRozan become ROY candidates on other teams.

  12. BiG ShoT BoB says:

I guess the only way to tell is wait three years and have this conversation again when T-Dub is an allstar and people say where did this guy come from? Why did all these teams pass on him?

  13. Bron42 aka Had Springs Before Slamball says:

steve francis couldn’t palm a basketball….but it def helps on dunkin and layin up in traffic…look at guys like rondo who can palm it and make room to adjust. not even that, it helps with passin cuz you can pick it up off the dribble ala dr.J.

Williams is def gettin slept on. Is he gonna be a ray allen type shooter? prolly not…but he could develop into a joe johnson/gerald wallace type guy if he keeps workin on it.

and if u say havin to practice in front of jordan wouldnt make you alil nervous your crazy…Although as the bobcats, i’m not sure I’d want jordan in the room, he might just jinx that shit again. I’d only let him watch tape.

  14. SoulOnIce says:

I’m with you you and Kobeef about Earl Clark. That “lack of motor” talk is ridiculous. Honestly, I would take Williams before Clark, simply because I do think Williams has a more complete game.

This is when people have to really watch the game though, because if we simply look at their numbers, they are damn near the same. Plus, I know Williams didn’t go out on the best note (still can’t believe Travis Walton rendered him useless in the Elite Eight, one-on-one at that), but I’ve seen more than enough of him to know he’s the real deal. I do have one question, though: where is all this Gerald Henderson talk coming from? I’ve watched dude at Duke all these years, and thought he was solid, but nothing that made me think lottery at all.

  15. Kudabeen says:

I think people give High IQ guys that are athletic the nod. I think people are seeing Grant Hill in Henderson, but I don’t. IQ, polish, athletic I think he is a sure fire pro though.

I was listening to Ric Bucher and he made an excellent point. “This draft isn’t bad talent wise. It is being called bad, because GMs are in a position where they can look really bad.”

Guys projected in the late 1st and 2nd round are more proven solid contributors than lottery picks, so When Sam Young averages 14 a game and plays lock down D ala Battier That Austin Daye Lottery pick won’t seem as popular for those initial 3 years. This is how guys get fired.

  16. doc says:

Why is that Mikes first time there?Thats why he be making them fucked up picks now.Probably came the one workout Morrison J was hitting.
