Guys projected in the late 1st and 2nd round are more proven solid contributors than lottery picks, so When Sam Young averages 14 a game and plays lock down D ala Battier That Austin Daye Lottery pick won’t seem as popular for those initial 3 years. This is how guys get fired.

This is when people have to really watch the game though, because if we simply look at their numbers, they are damn near the same. Plus, I know Williams didn’t go out on the best note (still can’t believe Travis Walton rendered him useless in the Elite Eight, one-on-one at that), but I’ve seen more than enough of him to know he’s the real deal. I do have one question, though: where is all this Gerald Henderson talk coming from? I’ve watched dude at Duke all these years, and thought he was solid, but nothing that made me think lottery at all.

Williams is def gettin slept on. Is he gonna be a ray allen type shooter? prolly not…but he could develop into a joe johnson/gerald wallace type guy if he keeps workin on it.

The Raptors need a SF and should be taking Clark but from what I can tell they have no interest in him because of his apparent “lack of motor”. I don’t buy it. The kid played very well for an elite college team for the past 2 years.

I can see the Raps pulling a “Rafael Arujo” again and picking someone like Omri Cassipi, then watching guys like Clark and DeRozan become ROY candidates on other teams.

Agreed. I think careerwise it will suit him to go to better team. I’m just talking about the poor scouting and assesments. I read these things and continue to ask, what are they basing this on?

A great article I read on Earl Clark that was examining where this thing about his motor came from. By all accounts he gives effort, makes the right plays, and makes good reads on when to be aggressive or move the ball. But someone decided that he should be more than he is, so let’s tag him with having questionable desire.

Let’s say Williams can’t shoot and will be an offensive liability…

Let’s all of a sudden say Rubio can’t play D, when since 14 scouts have been saying that he is a good defender…

Before you open your mouth again you should learn a thing or two about the prospects you are discussing. Williams is far an away the best playmaker and rebounder of all the SG’s in this draft.

If you compare Williams to all the PG’s in this draft he ranks second in playmaking (both passing and assist to TO ratio).

Williams has a very, very complete game – and his shot is better than most think. Big hands are an interesting piece of news, but unlike you the rest of us think before we make bold statements about a prospect.

And yes having big hands is IMPORTANT but isnt NECCESSARY.. i heard Amare Stoudemire cant really palm the ball.. And dude is as good a cutter and finisher as anyone..

Are talking about his shot in the clip here or in college? Didn’t look like Gerald was out shooting him in this small sample. Js are developed. Neither player is a natural shooter or will win a 3 point contest. Williams is a better defender over Henderson who in his own right is in the top 5 on ball defenders projected in the 1st round. He is a bigger body that rebounds more, pushes the ball more, facilitates more and is developing at the same pace.

Henderson has more fundamental polish…As he should is daddy is a former NBA champion. Other than that I think Williams is a better prospect.

Also you can under estimate big hands, but that is a huge contributor to being a great finisher and passer. Yes the dribbling and shooting can suffer ill-effects, but it hasn’t. If they aren’t calling the calls on Wade at this point who cares. The NBA continues to be selective with who and what they enforce rules on. If you want to walk down that path MJ isn’t quite the Greatest, Ewing should never be mentioned as one of the top Centers of all-time. Moses Malone shuffled his feet a lot for position, so he ain’t Ish either I guess…
