We Reminisce: Maurice Taylor’s NBA Draft suit

The What Not to Wear: NBA Draft Edition Hall of Fame is a tough group to crack. Which makes sense, when you’ve got the bar being set by Jalen Rose’s red pinstriped suit, Chuck Person’s white-and-pink tuxedo, Samaki Walker’s fedora, and Karl Malone’s entire outfit in ‘85 that was so country it should have come with a syrup sandwich in the front pocket.
But how did Maurice Taylor slip under the radar? NBA TV has been showing replays of past drafts all week, which today included the ‘97 draft (Duncan, Billups, T-Mac). I don’t even remember watching this draft when it happened, and I’m thinking that if I did, I would have at least remembered Taylor’s suit. Maybe it was because the draft was in Charlotte that year and Mo wanted to endear himself to the home fans. Maybe he knew the Clippers were going to take him and he wanted to make his last appearance on national TV a memorable one. But there’s just too many things wrong with this one.

They should let Sager interview dudes on draft day about their style and what they are wearing or should not be wearing.
Gonna be interesting to see what some of the vets will be twittering when their teams draft someone they don’t like or even like.
Twitter will be going nuts NBA wise, along with crackin on what folks are wearing.
That joint Taylor has on lets you know his so-called-friends was gassing him up on this one, telling him how good he looked lol.

Just watched the replay of Chuck Person’s draft, the drug draft of 1986. Person was not only wearing a white tux but brought his newly wed wife as well.
There was even talk that the Lakers were going to trade James Worthy, Byron Scott and Michael Cooper to the Mavs for Mark Aguirre, Roy Tarpley and another player.
Lakers went on to win the chip that season. Wonder what would have happened if the trade went down…

I love how without fail, Austin will make fun of Karl Malone, the 2nd all-time in NBA in scoring, two time MVP, two time All-Star Game MVP, two gold medals in the olympics, countless all-nba and all-star teams — a guy who didn’t just write a check after katrina happened, someone who took his own company out there to clear lots after FEMA told him that he wasn’t allowed to. he made sure his operation was completely self contained so he didn’t take any resources that should have gone to the victims.
yeah, he was poor, went to a poor school, didn’t have boosters buying him slick stuff when he got to the nba and is country . . . so you going to hate on him because you’re from a better life situation? that’s cheap.
