WOW... I just want to say thank you to all the haters out there for giving my home team the opportunity of a life time. I have heard some really ridiculous stuff out there so I just can help but address it. If AI is not a winner than neither is Kobe, Ray Allen, Ron Artest, or any other two guard in the league that has never won a ring on there own merit. Kobe gets a semi pass for this year because they did win, but he should send Timmie and manu a thank you card for lightining his load. Realisticly the only decent team he faced in the playoffs was Houston and Orlando.

Ray Allen showed how much of a winner he was by never making it father then the second round except for hanging on the the end of KG's coat tail while he was drastically out played by ever two gaurd he faced in the playoffs.

As far as AI being a winner he made it to 1 NBA Finals, two eastern conference Championships, and 3 second round appearances carrying his own team on his shoulders if that's not winning then I don't know what it is.

If you really seriously believe that last year makes him washed up and Denver all of a sudden got better than you are not smarter than a fith grader. I beilieve they won two more regular season games, and last to the same team in the playoffs, while adding Donte Jones, Chris Anderson and Nene to the roster. No to mention they did not have to face the real San, and Amare missed the second half of the season. WOW, I hope that Denver is not content with that, because if so they will be watching the playoffs from at home this year.

Bottom line I want to see all your comments once the season unfolds this year, I can picture it saying: AI is only dominant again because he is playing for LB in a system that he is familiar with, or AI had an attitude adjustment and now he is such a better fit. But I hope you all just eat your words and keep your moth shut.

When having a discussion on Iverson, one has to examine the Media's role in shaping the ideas and attitudes of people in popular culture. The media can lift up an individual to look like a saint or tear down a person to look like a menace to society.
It's been done for decades to make women look subservient to men, to make all black men that don't dress in a suit and tie look threatning, and to make politician look like saviors.
To the casual observer, Iverson is what the media has painted him as( A bad boy who refuses to practice, pass, and play a reserve role). To basketball purist, who see through the manipulation of the media, he's a baller that alot of the young guards in NBA and college patterned their game after. Iverson didn't develop the ability to cross over defenders and carry teams on his back by a lack of practice. Don't let a five-second soundbite, which has been played reapeatedly fool you! Iverson is one of the greatest to play the game. The year in Detroit was an aberration! The coach sucked and didn't know how to utilize Iverson. Iverson is a scorer. You don't make a scorer, change his game. You ask role players to adjust their game. No one asked Jordan to stop scoring. They surrounded him with role players, and let him do his thing.
Philly fans know best, that Iverson was a SG for most of his tenure in Philly, not a PG. His role is to penetrate and score, force teams to double team, which in turn opens up shots for others. The man can still play as a starter. The fact that he is 6'0" or 34 is not a good arguement. He has a passion for winning, that few(Garnett, Lebron) can match in the NBA.
He should be a starter with a coaching system that knows how to utilize his skills (Philly, Charlotte, Houston, or Miami).
NBA teams saying Iverson, must agree to come off the bench is politically motivated. He doesn't fit the clean cut image the NBA wants to project. So the first opportunity they get to cast him away, they go into action. It's been done with other players(Craig Hodges- one of the best 3pt. shooters ever; Mahmoud-Abdul-Raouf, one of best shooting guards ever(was characterized as non-patriotic for not putting his hand on his chest during the presenting of the colors, and basketball great and former Clipper general maganager Elgin Baylor. After inquiring about a raise after the Clippers went to the second round of the playoffs in 2006 Baylor was not given a response. Mike Dunleavy, however was rewarded a 20 million dollar contract. If you remember past drafts, it was always Elgin Baylor that made the selections. He was responsible for the Clippers success in 2006.
All the guys I mentioned that were forced out!
If given the opportunity, Iverson will give us a season to remember!

Allen Iverson destroyed Detroit Pistons-he has street steez. However, street cred doesn't win championships (he tried and failed during his prime in Philly and will never come close again unless he accepts his role as a backup on a contender team). Sports writers and street fans need to get wit and face reality...

Allen Iverson is the still the freak of nature he was when he first came in the league. He still can play a full 48 minutes (if needed), he hasn't lost a step, and he still leaves it all out there on the court. Critics have been looking for Iverson to break down years ago, because a 34 year old guard who's 6'0 and a 180 pounds isn't supposed to do half the things that he's doing. As good as Chauncy is, he wasn't the sole reason Denver improved from last season. There addition of Dahntey Jones, Chris Andersen, Nene' returning healthy, and most importantly keeping Anthony Carter out of the starting lineup is why Denver looked better. The previous season with Iverson they won 50 games, so they were getting better with him. Allen Iverson is still in MY top 10 players in the NBA. As he's gotten older he FG% has improved. His last season in Denver he shot better than Kobe from the field, and was 3rd in scoring with 7 ast and 2 stls. You're not gonna find any better than that.

gay for rudy or whatever your nik was why insert wrong stats ?? all assist after 2003 are 7.9 at best 6.2 at worst ana majority are in the 7's per game and a carreer assist average of over 6. pls compaire it with jordan/kobe/james carrere assists per game.and dont forget he is a shooting guard pls check teh assist per game of all the top shhoting guards in the game and you will see they dont even come close to iverson's. people dont like him because he wonnt be a lap dog to the gm's and nba.all the sports writers are against the hip hop immage so they are against iverson, check out eric snows interview where he says iverson is a hard practicer and one of the most unselfish players he has seen.iverson is disliked because he wont sell out his character.how come no one mentions all the good things he does in the community.wake up people stop being ignorant

Ok... ok... whoever it is writing in ALL CAPS masquerading as several different posters... WE GET IT!!! You love AI!! Stop acting like a bunch of different people and stick to one alias. Thank you!

Individually Iverson is a great player and a tremendous warrior, but he hasn't shown himself able to make a team better. With exception for one magical Finals season in which he was surrounded by the perfect role players for him (i.e. didn't need the ball to be effective), his resume doesn't look good despite having had the opportunity to play with many talented players. Regardless of the real reason why he rode the bench at the end of last season, his comments about retiring if he has to come off the bench and the infamous "practice" speech in his youth don't make him look like someone willing to meld his talents in whatever way possible to win.
