Breaking News: Clippers Trade Zach Randolph to Grizzlies for Quentin Richardson

In what was surely a first-come first-serve sorta deal, the Clippers have reportedly agreed to trade Zach Randolph to the Memphis Grizzlies for Quentin Richardson.
The trade can’t be finalized until the League sets the salary cap July 8 and lifts the hold on player movement.
In the coming days it will be interesting to see what other real offers, if any, the Clips got for Zach, or if they just pulled the trigger on the first deal that came their way. At the very least, the Clips gets Q’s expiring contract and more cap space in 2010. Great deal for L.A.

Jah says:
Think Zach’ll still put up 20/10 in Memphis with Rudy and O.J. needing their shots?
They’re talented, but no one has ever accused Zach of HELPING chemistry.

Shit, thats a great look for the grizzlies!!!

JHUSTLE says:
grizz definitely made a good deal. Randolph isn’t exactly a guy who buys into a gameplan tho. especially when he isn’t gettin many shots up and he wont with Mayo and Gay as the first and second scoring options. And Q rich back to the clips WOW i haven’t seen him make a shot since nash passed him the rock for a wide open 3 in phoenix

i like zach, but somebody please tell me how this is good for the grizzlies. is he suddenly going to start helping a team win now that he’s in memphis? don’t get it at all.

Scott says:
I wouldn’t stress him not helping chemistry. Rudy and OJ seem to be pretty high character guys, along with Gasol, and Thabett, so you gotta think he could pull a VC in NJ and become more of a leader… he’s gotta mature sometime right?…. right?! lol.

Just wait until he gets hooked back up with D Miles, it’s going to be the Jailblazers all over again….enjoy Memphis

Of course OJ is a high character guy he has been a pro for 5 years now. lol ESPN is reporting the Lakers will probably let Ariza go, maybe he heads to Memphis, now that would be an athletic lineup.

I doubt it would ever happen, but Kaman, Griffin, Thornton, Eric Gordon, Baron Davis… that would be a hell of a lineup to add LeBron to… but naw, it ain’t happenin. Its the Clipps.

Let's Go Hawks says:
@ bakedbeing- the salaries only have to match if they go above the cap which the grizz arent so they can take on a larger contract.
I think that the Grizz GM has outdone himself. Way to kill your only commodity: cap space

@let’s go hawks – ALL deals (not for picks) the salaries have to be within 25% of each other.

@ Scott
Say what you want about Vince, but he led those Toronto teams to the playoffs, put them on his back. When has Zach ever even sniffed the playoffs? And Memphis can have all the cap space in the world, nobody’s going to come to Memphis. Unless they paid somebody double what they’re worth. At least now they have a 20/10 guy on their roster, even if he is a black hole.

I was hoping the clippers were going to bring Blake in off the bench. That would have been a sick rotation but I guess they want to hand him the keys straight away.

ponky_alolor says:
i’m surprised that Q-Rich’s salary was close to Zach. That’s how stupid GMs are i guess. Q-Rich cashed in on making all those threes in PHX and LAC. I mean Zach is 20-10 at least.
Good start for clips making space for Blake.
Zach-Rudy-Mao-Gasol-Thabeet-Conley will be decent.

Jah says:
PG – Mike Conley, Jr.
SG – O.J. Mayo
SF – Rudy Gay
PF – Zach Randolph (Darrell Arthur, Hakim Warrick)
C – Marc Gasol
They won’t win many games, but they’ll all be on a fantasy league roster.
Meanwhile…
PG – Baron Davis
SG – Eric Gordon
SF – Al Thornton
PF – Blake Griffin
C – Marcus Camby (Chris Kaman)
…they’ll win 35-40 games this year.

@johnsacrimoni
Totally agree with you, cap space is only good if you can fill it with decent players! No one was gonna take that money so by trading they get themselves exactly what they need, a high scoring post player, Gasol and Thabeet will do the defending! good deal for both teams I think!

Jay says:
Seriously Dunleavy, that’s all you could’ve gotten for a 20/10 player??? I realize we couldn’t get value for him since everybody knew he’s a foot and a half out the door already but still, QRich is basically like getting nothing at all. Sure he can come in and be the 3rd best guard on the team, but that really isn’t saying much.

Z-bo doesn’t improve teams period. And rashhed is fast heading that route. His last season was a thing to behold, astounding in its ugliness.I’d have been shocked had I not been vaccinated by vince carter’s previous perfomances in toronto.
my list of things i don’t give 2 craps about.
1.where AI ends up
2.where Zbo ends up
3.where the fluck bubbles is at

5.Any moves the clippers make(even flawless moves end up backfiring on them.it’s the weirdest shyt ever.Honestly.No wonder billy crystal has that suicidal look on his face).
