Don’t Believe Amar’e
Maybe Amar’e saw the effect that Kevin Love’s breaking news tweets had on the blog-o-sphere, and wanted to see how it felt to be the source of a story. Or, maybe he just wanted to mess with all of us.
Either way, Amar’e has been pushing the STAT-to-the-Lakers rumor on his Twitter feed.
“Breaking News! Amar’e Stoudemire to the Lakers!!,” he tweeted on June 26th.
“Breaking News! Amar’e Stoudemire to the Lakers!! He might take less money to win a championship,” he tweeted again about 20 hours ago.
So now every one of his tweets includes a made-up rumor about him going to play for the Lakers or something about Sun Tzu. For example… “I have incorporated several of these philosophies into my game on the basketball court and into my life… amar’e stoudemire AKA sun tzu”
The problem with Sun Tzu’s “breaking news” is that he doesn’t have the option to “take less money to win a championship” right now. The dude’s under contract in Phoenix. He will be paid $16,378,325. Unless he renegotiates with the Suns, who then trade him to LA, that is exactly what he will make this year. Maybe that’s what he was trying to get at, but couldn’t articulate that roundabout message in 140 characters or less.

I read this morning that the Suns may pursue Lamar Odom. HOW??? The only way would be through a sign and trade that would no doubt involve Amare.
I can’t believe the Lakers would want to mess up their chemistry by bringing in a malcontent like Amare.
With all the money LA saved on draft day and by Kobe not opting out to get a raise, they should just give Ariza $7-8 mil per and Odom $9-10 mil per and call it a day.

I would certainly hope the Suns wouldn’t take Bynums bad knees in a trade, true Amare has a history of injuries, but at least when he comes back he puts up numbers unlike Bynum who has only one legit good season under his belt.
