The talk of the NBA this afternoon is that numerous media outlets are reporting that Steve Nash agreed to a two-year extension with the Suns this weekend worth an estimated $22 million. While nothing is official, Nash is expected to formally announce his decision via his Twitter feed later today. Read More »

As we said this morning in Smack, now that the NBA Summer League is over in Vegas, the next basketball we have to look forward to is the USA Basketball National Team Mini-Camp which opens Thursday, July 23. While none of the big names from last summer’s Olympic run are going to make the trip, some of the top young NBA talents will do their best to make it to London in 2012. Read More »

Welcome to the 50th issue of Dime Magazine -the culmination of eight years of blood, sweat and tears. We started this magazine because there was nothing out there for us. We had a simple desire for an intelligent, well-written basketball magazine that spoke to us as basketball players. That type of outlet just didn’t exist, so we made our own.
Now here we are, almost a decade later, still producing what we think is the best basketball magazine on the planet. It didn’t matter what the haters said at the start (there were many, and yes, we remember them all), and it doesn’t matter now that the economy is a mess and that the publishing industry is in shambles – we are in it to win it over the long haul.

ABC must have read my post on the Top 5 NBA Players Who Need A Reality Show because on August 18, Shaq’s newest reality show, “Shaq Vs.” will premier at 9:00 PM EST. The show will feature Shaq going heads up against other professional athletes in their respective sports – many of whom he recruited on Twitter. Read More »

Now that the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas is over, it’s time to take a look back. The following All-Summer League teams consists of two guards, two forwards, and one center with consideration of at least four games played. That means guys like Eric Gordon and Anthony Morrow who went out to Vegas to simply get buckets weren’t considered because they only played in a few games, while the players we selected were all key components to their summer league squad the whole week. While this offseason continues to show the NBA’s rich getting richer, there are still a few loose ends to attend to. Perhaps I’m just getting greedy after acquiring Rasheed Wallace and Marquis Daniels, but if the Celtics definitely want to make good on Kevin Garnett‘s back-to-back promise, they have to ink a deal with Big Baby. While watching the Kings/Knicks summer league game this weekend, one crazy thought crossed my mind: the Kings won’t be that bad this season. Overnight, Tyreke Evans is proving that he’s going to be a very tough matchup for Western Conference PGs with his 6-6 frame, Omri Casspi will be a solid contributor and Jason Thompson could be a breakout stat a la LaMarcus Aldridge. But although he wasn’t in the building, the piece that will complete the Kings was busy putting in work. Read More »

As much as we make summer league about the rookies, this year’s Vegas version was stocked with young “vets” whose play could be a sign of big things to come when the real games start. Nick Young, Anthony Randolph, Jason Thompson, even Adam Morrison and Marcus Williams all put in work, but when the VSL wrapped up yesterday, it was rookie Blake Griffin who was named MVP … Blake averaged 19 points and 10 boards in his five games with the JV Clippers, and in his finale put up 16 and eight in a matchup with older brother Taylor Griffin (4 pts, 6 rebs) and the Suns. We’re probably not going out on a limb saying that was the first and last game those two ever play where they’re across from each other in the starting lineup. Read More »
