OKC Thunder: One player away

Kevin Durant (photo. The Oklahoman)

Although the ‘09 NBA free agent class isn’t as stacked as in years past — not to mention the League is being more thrifty than ever due to the slumping economy — teams still have holes they want to plug, and players have moves they want to make. As the negotiation period gets underway (players can’t officially sign until July 8), we’re breaking down each team’s free agent situation… Read More »

Danny Granger talks defense, training, and what he thinks of Psycho T

Danny Granger (photo. Stephen Hill)

Barack Obama might be the only person in America who’s had a better run over the last eight months than Danny Granger. Last November, Granger signed a five-year, $60 million extension with the Pacers. In February, he made is All-Star Game debut. In April, he finished the season fifth in the League in scoring at 25.8 ppg. And in May, “Senor Buckets” took home the NBA’s Most Improved Player award. Read More »

The Biggest Obstacle in the Amar’e-to-Golden State Trade

Stephen Curry

Talk about a change of heart. Back when Stephen Curry went 5-18 from the field for 20 points against the College of Charleston, NBA analysts and scouts piped up, saying that he wasn’t fit for the League.

But last week he was selected seventh in the draft. And now, he’s the reason that Golden State won’t pull the trigger on a trade that would get them one of the most dynamic talents in the game today. Read More »

LeBron James

This morning Sports Illustrated released their official annual ranking of the Top 50 Highest Earning American Athletes. Naturally, there are a bunch of NBA players on there. Baller’s Blueprint: Ben Gordon’s Step-Back Jumper

56845196

In every issue of Dime, we run a feature called “The Baller’s Blueprint,” where we get up with different NBA players and have them break down their signature moves and skills. So today we wanted to come back with another Baller’s Blueprint from the Blake Griffin issue. This one features Ben Gordon breaking down the patented step-back J that he’s hoping will earn him serious loot on the free agent market …

“Most of the time I’m looking at creating contact with my defender. Maybe if I can’t get around him, I’ll look to try and create contact with my shoulder or my body and kinda get him off balance and step back. Read More »

Amar'e Stoudemire

Maybe Amar’e saw the effect that Kevin Love‘s breaking news tweets had on the blog-o-sphere, and wanted to see how it felt to be the source of a story. Or, maybe he just wanted to mess with all of us.

Either way, Amar’e has been pushing the STAT-to-the-Lakers rumor on his Twitter feed. Read More »
