The Catch That Saved Mark Buehrle’s Perfect Game Today
It’s not hoop but who cares – you need to see this. This afternoon White Sox pitcher Mark Buehrle took a perfect game into the ninth inning against Tampa Bay. The first guy up blasted a ball to center field and Sox outfielder DeWayne Wise did THIS:
Maybe one of the all-time best catches in the history of baseball, especially given the circumstances.

Jump was nothing fancy, but it looks like he did a hell of a job covering ground to get to it–without also plastering himself on the wall.
Thanks, Patrick. (Although I still think baseball generally is a pretty boring game.)

That catch was nice as hell. C’mon man, you can’t deny that. Considering he almost bobbled it out of his glove coming back down adds to the drama.

People either love baseball or hate it. If you didn’t grow up playing/watching baseball, you probably don’t have an appreciation for the game.
Baseball is often referred to as a “thinking man’s game.” I think it requires a lot more mental focus than most sports. Yes there’s less action, but it’s because of that that players have to be more focused. It’s easier to lose focus than in basketball, where you’re almost always moving.
Baseball is more of a patient man’s game. In today’s world, people need to be constantly entertained and if their mind wanders, they lose interest.
To me, there’s nothing more intense than playoff baseball. In a close game, where every pitch counts, you have to have nerves of steel.

baseball is great and unlike basketball you actually have to do something good to be in the majors for basketball if u r blessed with 7 feet you can find a job like you guys said you cant teach size. i remember a fool here sayin baseball is the easiest game ever ask mj the greatest basketball player ever according to most of you if it is? that shows the diff in strength baseball players usually have mj was prob the strongest 2 guard ever and he had rey ordonez power in baseball. ask shaq and his 400 pounds to do half of what josh hamilton did last year in the hr derby.
brown
you are right baseball has the best playoffs by farrrr anything can happen unlike basketball were 2-3 teams actually have a shot at winning.

Baseball isn’t better than basketball, nor is it worse. It’s a different game, the skillset is different, but it’s still hella good competition. If you knew what to watch for, I don’t understand how a sports fan could think ANY sport is boring.
If anyone thinks its easy to sprint 30 yards and make a jumping catch into a wall, without ever taking your eyes off the ball, you gotta be kidding. Also, the guy took away a home run to save a perfect game! In the 9th inning! Doesn’t get more dramatic than that.
Also, whoever said that J. Sanchez’s no-hitter was better, you must be crazy. This was a perfect game, bro. 27 up, 27 down. Accomplished only 18 times in the history of the league. I threw a perfect game on MLB The Show once and I almost flipped a sh*t. God knows what it feels like to do it for real.
Buerhle bought his entire team watches when he threw his first no-hitter, so I’m guessing DeWayne Wise will get a bit more than dinner and a prostitute, like someone suggested.
