World’s Biggest Goth Kid joining the Celtics

Meet the Celtics’ newest Summer League roster addition, Robert Swift. After the Patrick O’Bryant project didn’t work, Danny Ainge is taking another crack at resurrecting a once-promising career. If you remember, Ainge was very high on Swift going into the ‘04 Draft, but the Sonics grabbed him first and Ainge was stuck with Al Jefferson.
Now, this does NOT mean Swift has signed a free-agent deal with Boston. It just means the unrestricted FA has a spot to showcase himself in case no one signs him beforehand.

i duuno how anybody thought this foo would have a promising career…he went to school here locally to Bakersfield High School and he sucked in high school, the only reason he was hyped is cuz he was the tallest person in Bakersfield, he had no skills at all…my brother knew his girlfriend (who by the way is smokin hot)and he said the she was a better basketball player than he was - he wasnt joking either.

I like Swift on a tough good team. He isn’t totally talentless. He just has to prove he hasn’t loss too much in the lack of activity, because he didn’t really have a whole lot to begin with. NBA loves big bodies no matter what (see Jerome James, Eddy Curry, Calvin Booth, etc.)

I hope DA do not sign this dude. We could have signed Birdman instead of Patrick O’Bryant last year and DA dropped the ball. If we sign Swift he will be the Celtics 2010 version of Mikki Moore and Patrick O’Bryant contributing nothing to the team. Instead of signing Swift Ainge should use the money on Powe.

as a rule . . . shouldn’t you give up on bigmen that are drafted by Golden State, and given up on by Golden State — a team that has been despirate for bigmen since the nate thurmond days?
(the hit list off the top of my head: mohammad saer sene, rob swift, paddy o’bryant, todd fuller, adonal foyle, clifford rozier, etc)
I’d put webber on that list too . . . but he was a solid B+ post player in his career.

Why? Just, why? As if Jerome James drawing a paycheck wasn’t bad enough; someone wants to give another worthless bum MILLIONS just because he’s tall. This dude has done nothing - I repeat NOTHING - to warrant a contract. Why not give Josh Heytvelt some love, at least he’ll stay on the court.

Celtics just looking for another redhead–they alway gotta have 1 or 2 (e.g, DJ, Walton, etc.). (They actually thought Patrick O’Bryant was a big red-headed irish kid from the whitebread suburbs, but somehow their scouts screwed up.)
Does this mean they are trading Scal?

Poppi, i saw robert stiff (uh, swift) when he wuz drafted by Seattle…boy got zero talent, got pushed around den got all swole up like barry bonds. Last i saw, his game was runnin up and down the court a few times to pick up a few fouls before gettin back on the IL.
Dude has no place in the L.
Now, off to the corner mart for mo’ snacks…

Relax people-it’s something the C’s do for every summer league. They fill roster spots with undrafted rooks, free-agents etc. It doesn’t mean squat. Do you think they’re gonna cut Giddens & Walker to sign Swift & Coby Karl? lol…

As a former Sonics’ fan, Swift is one of the bigger busts in NBA history. Swift, along with other 7-ft. 1st round busts, S.Sene & J.Petro are partly responsible the Sonics move to Okla. City.
Swift is just another example of an immature kid who should have honored his college (U.S.C.) commitment in order to prepare for the NBA.
Swift is also a knee injury waiting to happen. Ainge scares me and probably all of the Celtics’ gods (Russell, Havlicek, Cousy, etc. . .) by picking up these character-flawed guys like Swift, D.Miles, Starbury, R.Wallace, etc. . .
