A high-level source told Yahoo! Sports that Ricky Rubio will sign a six-year contract to remain in Spain. The contract will give Rubio the ability to join the NBA in 2011.

This week students of all ages throughout the country are getting ready to start another year of fun and learning. While half of that statement might not be true, going back to school does have it’s perks, and I’m not just talking about seeing which girls got hotter over the summer. Back to school means one thing and one thing only, back to school shopping. Read More »
Dime: Tell the readers a little about Protege.
Al Harrington: Well the shoes are great. They’re shoes that will immediately impact the community. It will empower kids and allow them to be able to afford sneakers themselves and not need their parents to buy shoes for them. The days of the $200 shoes are pretty much over. I think it’s unfair because shoes are made at a price that is way, way lower than that. We wanted to be able to put out a shoe that is quality and is just as good as other shoes on the market that are $100 and $200. Kids can look good and with me, Stephen Jackson and Fat Joe wearing them – it’s giving the line a lot of credibility. Kids can wear them and feel empowered wearing them. Read More »
For every idiot/moron/stupid/crazy/you-should-be-fired/you-should-die (seriously) insult I took after writing that Michael Jordan is overrated, the only time I ever felt dumb was later that same night I wrote the column, when NBA TV aired a Lakers/Clippers game from 1979.
While the re-run was meant to showcase Magic Johnson in his first NBA game, the star of the show was the one guy who I somehow failed to mention when listing players who could challenge Jordan for the Greatest of All-Time crown: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Read More »
After putting together the modified Top-50 list of players from ‘08-09, I had about 50 leftovers who just missed the cut. And from that, there could’ve been a whole sub-category titled “Wait ‘Til Next Year.”
We’ve gone over the centers, two-guards and small forwards. Now here are five point guards who look the most ready to crack the 2010 Top-10 with their performances next season: Read More »
I got to admit I was pretty shocked and saddened when I got the news that DJ AM passed away on Friday. After what he’d been through with the near-fatal plane crash last fall, I was really pulling for him to get his life back on track. Last December, he was nice enough to grant me an interview about his sneaker collection for Bounce Magazine. It wasn’t exactly hard hitting stuff, but it showed he was a big time sneakerhead. Those who followed the Philly-born DJ on Twitter, know how much of a Lakers fan he was. He regularly exchanged tweets with Lamar Odom. He was an extremely talented DJ and will be missed.
On Friday, we broke the story that Stephen Jackson wanted out of the Bay. After missing the postseason for two straight years, Captain Jack expressed his desire to leave the Warriors and catch on with a playoff team. He listed five teams he’d want to suit up for in ’09-10: the Mavericks, Cavs, Spurs, Rockets and the Knicks.
While anyone can make a game-winning three, some of these shots are just plain ridiculous. What’s your favorite from this mix? What’s your favorite of all-time?
It seems that all there are always rumors surrounding Carlos Arroyo – and none of them are ever true. Over a month ago there was one that saw Arroyo possibly ending up with the Sixers, and then over the weekend one that had him landing with the Bulls. But while neither of these seem to be actually coming to frution, here are five teams that should sign Arroyo this season. Read More »
The Ricky Rubio song-and-dance has turned into the Michael Myers of the NBA offseason; it just won’t stay down. Last week, Rubio was reportedly going to sign a six-year contract with Regal FC Barcelona (Spain) — where he’d be teammates with J.C. Navarro, Terrence Morris, Fran Vasquez, and the immortal Boniface N’Dong — that had a reasonable buyout option in 2011. Bad news for the Wolves, right? Not so fast. The Barcelona deal isn’t official yet, and in the meantime, Minnesota GM David Kahn has flown to Spain AGAIN trying to work something out. At this point, Kahn might as well buy a condo out there and sublease it when he’s not busy trying to convince Rubio to come to America. Read More »
