Is this worth $1 million?

Anybody who knows me knows I’m all about reality competition shows. Whether it’s “4th & Long” or “Real Chance at Love” or “Project Runway” or “Dance Your Ass Off,” if I catch one episode, I’m usually hooked until the finale.

So about two weeks ago, I fell into “America’s Got Talent,” which if you’re unfamiliar, is basically “American Idol” but open to all kinds of acts. One of the first episodes I saw featured Acrodunk, a crew of guys jumping off trampolines and doing crazy dunks. If you’ve ever been to an NBA game, odds are you’ve seen a similar act, or at least you’ve seen the mascots (or Gilbert Arenas) doing the same thing. I didn’t think Acrodunk would last too long on the show, but somehow they’re KILLING it right now, and have a good chance of taking the grand prize of $1 million. Last night they blew the roof off in the quarterfinals (via the video posted above), and the judges were saying it was one of the greatest acts they’ve ever seen on a stage.

For real, though? I don’t know if I’m just jaded from having been to a million basketball games and seeing several crews like Acrodunk, but I’m just not that blown away. (The video below is from an older episode.) Tell me what you think: Has this audience really never seen anything like this, or is this just the greatest crew of trampoline dunkers ever assembled?

The thousands of others who have done the trampoline skit are collectively scratching their heads, where did they go wrong?

Its not just about being the best trampolin dunking squard. The “…Got Talent” show series is about being able to put on the best SHOW possible. Coordination the different parts of the show/the scene, keeping the energi high, the musik, lighting and so on.

I must say its also one of the best acts ive ever seen on Got Talent-show (i call it that cos about ever country has their own version, even my country and we’re only 5mill peeps – This – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wcg6VWW7LE is who won the Danish version last year). And i actually think people who are not used to watching basketball will be more impressed then us hoopheads.

I hope they win it, havnt got a clue who they’re up against tho!

amerika’s got talent, and two judges from Enland and one from Germany.
Btw why do these trampoline clowns stick to dunking some stupid balls? Do something amazing, you don’t need those stupid balls and dunks… that’s lame.

horrible. You definitely know that the lil kid in the group, wouldn’t be anywhere near the rim if it weren’t for the trampoline.

I was actually pretty impressed. I’ve seen trampoline dunking before, obviously with half-time shows, mascots and slamball, but nothing comes close to this one. Coming in on the different angles with different passes must take some crazy timing. Everyone likes to think they can dunk off a tramp and do some crazy stuff, but I think we all need to appreciate the timing and careful planning it takes to develop the routine.

Also, if Allan Houston and Starbury can get 10′s of millions for not even suiting up, then yeah, I think these guys deserve to split $1,000,000.

    @ simon…lol thats funny

this would have been cool if they dressed up in Gorilla suits and wore a basketball warm-up….oh wait thats been done already…this is wack. remember when former sixers GM pat croce (where has he been) was going crazy about some show where guys were jumping of trampolines..
