Like we said in yesterday’s Smack, the NBA releasing its regular-season schedule shouldn’t be that big of a deal, but at the same time, it’s kind of hard to gloss over when there’s almost nothing else happening in the news. Dime’s Jeff Chen listed his Top 10 games to watch this season, but we’ve got a few more to add … Opening night, Oct. 27, will be headlined by Celtics/Cavs on TNT, followed by Clippers/Lakers, when Kobe and crew get their rings and the championship banner is unveiled. (You think Spike Lee won’t be there front-row to schmooze with his new favorite team? There’s a better chance Jack misses that game than Spike.) Read More »

It’s easy to forget that Kanye West hasn’t been famous for THAT long, and yet he’s probably the biggest fashion lightning rod going in the hip-hop and “urban” (code word: Black) community. Kanye has already put his stamp on the sneaker game with the Nike Air Yeezys, and today gossip website Mediatakeout.com had a rumor that sounds like the natural progression for Kanye:
“According to a pretty well placed source, Kanye is negotiating to design a limited edition pair of Nike Air Jordan’s. The insider claims that negotiations are still early, but that both sides are excited about working out a deal.” Read More »

Short version of a Twitter exchange from early this morning: Austin asked how many followers would a current President (not just Barack Obama) get on Twitter if he had a page that he actually updated himself; reader Amar suggested half-a-billion easy, with every head of state and journalist and political blogger at the front of the line.
With Obama specifically, another group of people who’d flock to his Twitter page would be basketball fans. Read More »

When you’re an incoming NBA rookie, your offseason usually goes like this: Sign with an agent, work out for teams, get drafted, play summer league, settle into your new city. And depending on how popular you are, knock out some photo shoots and commercial shoots before training camp.
If you’re the agent of an NBA rookie, it’s like this: Sign the player, get him drafted as high as possible, tie up any loose ends as far as getting your guy settled, then try to get as many endoresement deals as possible. Read More »

Just like an art collector scouring the globe for a masterpiece, sole searching sneaker fiends will go to great lengths to find an exclusive pair of kicks. With the release of the official NBA schedule this afternoon, we cruised through to pick out 10 must-see games this season:
Oct 27 – Celtics @ Cavaliers – Both teams open their season in what should be a potential Eastern Conference Finals matchup. It will also be the first official game for Shaq as LeBron’s sidekick and Rasheed Wallace as the cranky, three-point shooting addition the Big 3.

The TV in my apartment stays on two channels: ESPN when I have the remote and The E Channel when my girlfriend does. I won’t even lie, I’ll watch The Daily 10 with my girlfriend to hear all of the latest celebrity gossip news. After recently watching the news that Dallas Cowboys’ QB Tony Romo has replaced his ex-girlfriend with another hot blonde (being dubbed “The New Jessica”) it got me thinking which NBA players have the best dimes waiting for them at their crib. It’s a painfully slow news day in the NBA, so everyone in the hoop world was gearing up for the release of the official NBA schedule at 1 p.m. And sure enough, as soon as the schedule dropped, teams were releasing it on their home pages, their twitter feeds, issuing official press releases (the Trail Blazers are always on top of it), and trying to connect with their fan bases any way they can possibly think of.
