Sneak Peek At “Just Wright”

Dwyane Wade, Dwight Howard and almost everyone from the New Jersey Nets were at the Izod Center yesterday filiming “Just Wright,” a movie starring Queen Latifah and Common. The story revolves around a sports trainer (Queen Latifah) who finds herself falling in love with a professional basketball player (Common) while rehabilitating him from a career-threatening injury. Check the clip below.

    Why does she keep getting work? She’s an AWFUL actress with no real training at it, doesn’t have the cough cough “credentials” people like Beyonce and formerly Aaliyah had who jumped from music to acting. They couldn’t've gotten a real actress to play the part? This movie is doomed to suck the second someone said, “Let’s get Queen Latifah.” EPIC FAIL

    and before someone jumps at me for this, not all musicians that make the jump are horrendous actors. Will Smith is the best BY A MILE, Common and Mos Def are actually damn good, LL’s had his moments, Aaliyah wasn’t bad and Beyonce isn’t a complete disaster (though, let’s be real, if you want a dimepiece, which is what she’s there for, why not hire Megan Goode or Gabrielle Union?) Queen Latifah though is a complete joke. She’s terrible, not funny, and I wish she’d just go away (same for Diddy.)

    Whoa Kimosabi, Queen is a good actor. She may not be as hot as the others you listed, but she must have talent. I can’t see her getting work if she didn’t have some talent.

    I disagree… Queen Latifah is one of the best “rapper turned actors.” You ever see her in Chicago? She’s had a few misses with the movies she chooses to be in, but overall she’s a great actress. Mos Def is a great actor as well and of course Will Smith is one of the best hollywood has right now. I’m not a big fan of LL, Common, or Beyonce as actors. This movie will probably suck because of Common being the lead actor, it’s a basketball movie, and the script is probably not that well thought out. We’ll see.

    Latifa held it down on a 5 year long sitcom that was actually good. Not saying she’s merryl Streep in the acting department but she’s not trash.

    @4 and 5, here’s the link to her IMDB page. I’ve seen less shit in a port-a-pottie. Name one good (non-animated) movie on that list that she was one of the 4 most important characters of (disclaimer, I have a penis so I don’t watch musicals, so Chicago’s out, but if a musician’s in a musical, it’s not acting anyway. Thatd be like saying Antonio Tarver’s a damn good actor. Did you see him play a boxer in Rocky 85?)

    Life support was a very good movie. You probably didn’t see it because it doesn’t have fudge packing or Anal bleeding involved.

    @ Celts fan, she was good in Set it off, you may have not liked the movie, but her performance in that was good. She was good in a couple of those movies although the movie themselves weren’t that great. In Last Holiday she played opposite LL Cool J whom you seem to think highly of and she did a good job in that one although I don’t like the movie myself. I didn’t see Secret Life of Bees but she got critical acclaim for that one. She’s not a bad actress, she could pick some better movies to be in though.

    Beyonce, common, queen latifa, meryl streep ARE ALL HORRIBLE ACTRESSES. YEa i said it. Meryl is the most annoying old lady of all time. Beyonce acts just as well as the queen, and common just acts like himself. Of course the movie will suck. No talent.

    @karizmatic – set it off was damn good. Ill give you that. And trust me, I don’t think highly of LL’s acting, just said he’s “had his moments.”. Big difference.

    Let’s put it this way, if Shia LaBouf and Queen Latifah fought to the death, regardless of the outcome, we’d all win.

    I think Kenny the Jet is in this too. Seems like it might not do well. I am going to have to ride on that train that says they should have gotten someone other than queen.

    Honestly my favorite black actress right now is Taraji P. Henson and I think she would be ideal as a sports trainer. She cute, funny, can act and toned up.

    lol I was invited out to tryout for a part as one of the players on commons team last month. The audition was in brooklyn and during it, my car was broken into…so never a good sign start to a movie career lol.

    Must be bizarro Friday, as I’ve got to side with Chicagorilla and not Celts Fan. I actually think Queen Latifah is a pretty good actress, and generally enjoy her movies. She just seems to me to have a certain genuine charm to her.

    (Yeah, she is a big girl, but for that matter, I think she’s a pretty charming, cute big girl. (I’d certainly take her over Mo’nique!) And I shouted out to her once when I was driving down Peachtree in Midtown, ATL when she was on the sidewalk filming a Beauty Shop scene, and she gave me a nice little wave. Okay, … I admit it… after that she won me over and I’ve got a little crush for Queen Latifah….but I’d rather have Taraji P. Henson or Gabrielle Union.)

    Majority of Queen Latifahs movies have that dumb humor but good underlying meaning..I mean shes not the worst but shes not winning any awards for her roles anytime soon. I def do agree they coulda got someone who at least looks trainer-ish. Not many 230lb chicks working at rehab clinics with million dollar athletes. At least shes not all obnoxious like mo’nique. and shes a wayyyyyy better actress than mrs. I ruin everything tryin to steal the show beyounce
