Michael Redd: “My Goal Is To Be One Of The Elite Guards In The League”

Michael Redd

After making the All-NBA Third Team in 2004, Michael Redd got paid to the tune of $91 million over six years. Choosing to stay with the Bucks instead of heading back home to play with Cleveland and King James, Redd thought that Milwaukee was headed places other than the lottery. They might have been had he not torn the ACL and MCL in his left knee. But don’t worry Bucks fan, Redd will be back soon and he’s gunnin’ to get back to the top.

“My goal is to be one of the elite guards in the league,” Redd said. “More than anything, I want us to be one of the elite teams. That’s what I’m focused on right now.

“We have a new roster again, and guys have to get to know each other all over again. We’ll see what happens. Hopefully we can have some good news in mid-December or January. When January comes, we’ll see where we’re at.”

Unfortunately what Redd is talking about is that he most likely won’t be back in a Bucks uniform until the new year. And while Brandon Jennings will keep the team in the SportsCenter rotation, a potential starting lineup of Jennings and Luke Ridnour in the backcourt (they have no other viable two guard) along with some combination of Joe Alexander/Luc Richard Mbah a Moute/Hakim Warrick/Kurt Thomas and Andrew Bogut, won’t win too many games.

Keep in mind the Bucks only had five guys that played more than 70 games last year, and they have since gotten rid of three.

What do you think? Will Redd be an elite guard when he returns? How many games with the Bucks win this year?

His goal is to be one of the elite guards in the league?

Well, mine is to end apartheid for one. And slow down the nuclear arms race, stop terrorism and world hunger. To provide food and shelter for the homeless, and oppose racial discrimination and promote civil rights, while also promoting equal rights for women. I want to encourage a return to traditional moral values. Most importantly, I will promote general social concern and less materialism in young people.

We both have the same chances of making our goals come true.

(yes I know I plagiarized that shit)

Can’t blame him for setting a lofty goal for himself, even though there’s no way he ever achieves it. If Milwaukee wins 25 games this year, I’ll be surprised.

Carlos Delfino is probably a better option at SG than Ridnour or Jennings and will likely be the starter until Redd returns.

Looking at this roster, we could be in for a historically bad team. I can’t figure out how this team can score 75 points against another NBA team. Look at this mess:

    PG – Ridnour/Jennings/Roko Ukic
    SG – Delfino/Bell/
    SF – Joe Alexander/L-R Mouba a Moute
    PF – Hakim Warrick/Ersan Ilysova
    C – Bogut/Gadzuric

Wow. That is a really horrible team. Not that I’m a betting man, but this looks like the worst team in the NBA in 2009-10.

Milwaukee will win about 25-35 games

Maybe Redd has taken too many drugs on his rehabilition and he keeps on dreaming and seeing things. If the Bucks could get into the playoffs that is equivalent to a championship.. hahaha

You can start with Rebounding and Defense!

Sorry, Aron, there’s no way that Brandon Jennings is going to keep this team in SportsCenter rotation. His whole draft class is overrated, even Blake Griffin. Someone on here the other day said they expected Griffin to come out of the gate 17/10/1.5 or something retarded. 1.5 blocks gets you into the top 20 in the NBA in blocks, and only 6 people averaged 10 rebounds last year. No. Way. This whole draft class is young and overrated…

mad props for the american psycho quote.

i was probably returning some videotapes

  • dlee9

Yeah, the bucks will probably win like 32 games. That’s like, what, 2 games out of the 8th spot in the playoffs?

cliffs: As weak as the Bucks will be, the lower-tier of the Eastern conference is just as weak

  • Boofrog

I am a Bucks fan tried and true and I hadn’t heard that Redd would be out that long. I thought we’d have a legit chance at the playoffs this year considering last year most of our team was injured right after a terribly brutal stretch of road games.

This changes just about everything and completely screws us. I was hoping for/expecting big things out of Redd this season, but I had no idea he was talking “january” as a return date.

We will be competitive, we will play better defense, and we will be a better team than the last three years, but his injury will again cost us a legit run at the playoffs.

My only hope and prayer is that our team does not find itself in another city in 3-5 years.
