Poor Mike. All he ended up doing was winning 3 straight championships. LOL

  2. jnuh says:

    *blows whistle*

*makes signal for carrying the ball*

    *chicago ball, out of bounds*

  3. POPPI GEE says:

That young A.I. if only he could get back! Boy still bad though!

  4. Yoooo says:

Yo there’s no way you can defend a nigga that can just carry the ball like that… I mean I still laughed my ass off, but seriously, that was a blatant ass Carry

  6. the cynic says:

cool moment. 12 years later its still traveling though

  7. bullet380 says:

Mike lovers kill me for real. “AI carried. AI carried”. Forget all the times Mike palmed the ball, carried, traveled, whatever. Folks hate to see Mike get crossed. LOL

Oh, by the way…”The Shot” as it’s called….didn’t he push off on Bryon Russell? Nobody likes to talk about that.

  8. control says:

It’s not like MJ tripped on his ass, or even put his hand on the ground…and he ALMOST blocked the shot after recovering. Not sure why this is such a big deal, one of those lil’ crazy 6 year old dribbling kids posted on this site from time to time could do this to anyone if they were allowed to straight carry the ball and stumble step all over the place like that.

It’s funny how AI hits the floor, even on a jump shot. Breath on that weak fucker and he’s hittin the ground.

  9. SWAT says:

@twalter i dont know if AI is a hall of famer. dude was a beast in his day but i dont think we will ever see dude in the hall.
i remember watching this clip and all i could think was how bad dude carried the rock-i think it had more to do with one of my heros gettin done out there tho than AI actually doing anything wrong.

  10. fan says:

I love and hate this. Right after Jordan would have got his twitter and said he palmed the ball (Hilarious). He just made a call to Stern after the game and had the move banned. A.I. was never the same. That move was his bread & butter. I still don’t understand why they banned it. LOL. He had people losing their mind. That move was crazy with his long &^% arms. A.I. really doesn’t have a handle like that. It’s like telling Shaq he can’t dislodge or Mike not being able to palm the ball. You can’t take away a players best attribute. If you’d call walk & charges he’d be avg. LOL. You get the point. It’s like telling all 3pt specialist to drive all game. (Boobie Gibson) cant dribble at all. Damon Jones dribbled better than him. Too funny. He sure has a missle launcher though.

  11. Yoooo says:

AI not a HOF’er? Get this nigga a glass of water and piece of bread. I’m afraid he may pass out any moment

  12. fan says:

Everybody who says the move is a carry either can’t dribble or got tired of almost losing their sanity trying to guard someone who had it. It’s the reason they have positions in basketball so people with only 1 skill set can play. You know how useless just a shooter is. If no one passes you the ball. Your hopless. Stop hating and changing the game to let weak people survive. Learn how to do the move. A carry is when you hand goes under the ball or the ball is dribbled at to high a level w/ o control. All of your favorite ball handlers carried then. Especially Cousy,Mike,Dr.J.,Pistol Pete. Stop crying and let the man be. Damn. If A.I. flops then Europeans act. If A.I. don’t come to practice. Some people go to practice and don’t come to the game physically. Not agreeing with skipping practice. Just saying. Appreciate the man for what he’s done. He’s a big reason we have all these new guard of today. He’s also a reason the league crossover and appealed to audiences all over. He was almost globally bigger than Kobe and Lebron. Definitely bigger than Lebron being forced feed. He had people wearing Reebok until they just went left field. He & Steve Francis were like HIp Hop in the N.B.A. They were like Wu-Tang and Nas or Big & EM. Their flair was stupid. My Bad White Chocolate was Eminem and they were tyring to control his game. He was stupid. W/O him the Kings would have sucked. W/o him the Heat don’t win that Chip. He was half of both of his legs. Amazing.

  13. fan says:

If Lebron asked to reinstate the A.I. crossover the N.B.A. would approve it. If Carmelo won a ring they would have Lebron present him with it at the award ceremony. If Gilbert would have got by King James they would have had a official review of all the tapes of the playoff series and awarded to LBJ. If D.Wade had a ring before the King they would deflect the issue & say it was only because he had the best center in the game. LOL. When he has a worse year than last yr and they trade mid season. They’re going to use chemistry. When he never win’s a ring. They’re going to talk about all the good he did. He still will be considered the best. I don’t know how were so quick to write off KOBE. LBJ still has 5 more yrs of dealing with that guy. He’s a marsian for real.

  14. SWAT says:

@ YO…are u sayin tht bcuz i dnt think AI is a HOF’er i need a piece of bread…i missed the joke fam.
but really id like to hear why you think AI is a hof dude. dont get me wrong scoring champ, MVP, led the leg in steals, and dude led an OK squad to the finals. dude was ballin…did he change the game from MJ to the ever presnet hip hop generation…yea i will give u tht. before AI, tats were cornball ish and almost no one rocked braids…but does he deserve the hof for bridgin the gap? does he deserve the vote for bringin hip hop to the nba? HOF is subject to so many diff opinions…i mean honestly dude was just a great scorer, HE gambled on defense consistently-even as he got older, dude only shot something like 31% from beyond the arc, he averaged like 22 shots a game-compare tht to KOBE at 19, plus dudes shot selection was always suspect. DUDE WAS/IS CRAZY TALENTED but dude never reached the potential because of this is…”Practice…we talkin bout practice?!?” You dont hear hof dudes saying tht…

  15. Jas says:

Too bad he stopped using the crossover; I don’t know when was the last time I saw him cross someone up. But that’s not the only game in which he crossed Mike twice: he got him in a game in December as a rookie too; he didn’t score, though.

  16. isotope says:

Sorry Gee, gotta disagree. If AI isn’t HOF then something is wrong with the voters. All the things you listed is why he is Hall of Fame. How many players can you say accomplished scoring title, MVP, and a trip to the finals? Tell me how many of them aren’t in or headed to the hall of fame. Jordan was wack in Washington. Barkley was horrible in Houston. Ewing was horrible in NY (just kidding) and nobody questions their induction into the hall of fame.

And about the crossover. Give AI the credit. He crossed MJ. Lebron got dunked on. Hakeem got dunked on by lil Kevin Johnson. Jordan is arguably the best player ever but he’s not perfect. This was AI’s day and we should let him enjoy it.

  17. isotope says:

oops, i meant SWAT not Gee.

  18. vcn says:

.i mean does it really matter anymore, if ever? …ai won’t go down as a champion…mj has…crossing over the g.o.a.t. on 1 play…regardless of year…doesnt mean anything in the long run

  19. Yoooo says:

How can you even debate the greatest scoring small guard won’t be in the HOF??? You sound stupid dog. I’m not even an AI fan but I can’t even disrespect to that degree.

Let me pose you this question? If AI isn’t a HOF’er then is Steve Nash? He DEFINITELY can’t be. Or what about Jason Kidd? AI put a WAY bigger stamp on the league than Kidd and arguably had a better career, with the Hardware to prove it.

You’re buggin flat out. You think guys like Clyde Drexler are in the HOF and they’re going to leave AI out? And i LOVE Clyde, pause, but come on dog. You sound STOOPID…

And for the record it’s the BASKETBALL Hall of Fame, Not just the NBA. Historically you MIGHT be able to count on 1 hand the amount of people who had a bigger presence in the game of basketball than AI. And that’s a big ass MIGHT

  20. Yoooo says:

But that crossover was definitely ILLEGAL as hell. Son had the ball in the air for like 4-5 seconds in between bounces. That’s called palming you numbnuts

  21. MadSammyboy says:

    POPPI GEE says:

That young A.I. if only he could get back! Boy still bad though!”

I agree… AI is bad. Really, really bad. At basketball.

  22. jnuh says:

Is AI working much these days?

  23. 40 cal BOUNCEMAG.COM says:

Dam it’s been like 15 years and this move is still haunting the mainstream, he defenetly shook mike into the X ray room.

  24. SWAT says:

@ yo jus cause I disagree doesn’t make me stupid fam…so b ez. Ai never once wanted to practice…tht is why dude is not a winner. Bottom line. Did kobe ever say tht? Mj, bird, stockon,? No champs bust thy ass regardless…shit mj used 2 treat practice likes its own game…ck out rip hamiltons stories. Now like I said dude can score but the fact ur comparing clyde to Ai…clyde was an all around player. ai is a point in a shooting guards body…too hard headed too undestand how to pass out before gettin caught in traffic. Remember tmac won scoring chips too so if he made it out the 1st rd should he make it to the hof…or how bout rodman? Like I said the hof has too many variables and I dnt see them voting ai bcuz he gave the nba street cred.

  25. SWAT says:

And the fact u said ai had a better career is funny too me…kidd is currently employed…lol how can u say ai had the better career? Kidd took his squad to the finals too and arguably was one of the top pgs for awhile…shit give me a point who runs the squad and isn’t hogging the dam ball any day. Look wht happnd whn denver got billups n traded away iverson.

  26. SWAT says:

@ iso lol I was wondering why u were gettin @ gee. But did u really hv 2 bring up kj dunkin on hakeem? Tht hurts fam. Lol

  27. control says:

I’d say AI isn’t hall of fame material. What has he done other than score a lot of points inefficiently and drive away the 2nd best scorer on his teams year after year?

  28. SWAT says:

Oops earlier I meant 2 say a he’s a shooting guard in a point guards body.

  29. doc says:

Ai going to the Hall. But the funny thing about that move is Mike had crazy numbers that night in a ass whipping for my Sixers. That was the only highlight of the night.

  30. POPPI GEE says:

isotope I was wondering? I was trying to think back and everything of when I got into a A.I. / H.O.F. debate lol.

    All good though.

lets stop the bvs…ai is going into the hof….if george gervin is there so is ai, if ewing is in there so is ai, if malone is in there so is ai lol should i keep going…stop tryna discredit the greatest lil man ever….HES A HOF POINT BLANK

  32. 45% says:

is it bad that i reminisce this moment atleast once a month?

  33. yahoo man says:

weak crossover. Jordan didn’t even get confused. LOL if that’s a.i.’s greatest crossover, you a.i. lovers needa stop talkin about HOF like his careers already over. losers

  34. LT says:

the reality of it is was AI wasn’t afraid to play Jordan. everyone knows that J is one of the greatest but this helped put AI on the map. give the man his props eventhough he doesn’t have a ring he is good, well not at good as he was in his prime, defeated or otherwise. honestly the 76ers was made a household name because of him contrary to whether they had a winning season or not. I was 11yrs old when this happened and it didn’t change the way I saw J but it definitely opened my eyes to AI. and the NBA has been messing with him ever since LOL

  35. Ian says:

    jordan nuthuggers must be crazy.
every great center gets dunked on , every great scorer gets blocked shit happens let it go. please stop sayin iverson did something illegal because jordan did alot of bullshit also ask russell.

agree with post 26 even if he doesnt like manu.

I know what you meant, man. I just disagree- I think AI’s one of the most overrated ballplayers ever suit up. His numbers are smoke and mirrors- flashy and impressive, but ultimately empty.

  37. MadSammyboy says:

Ever TO suit up, that is.

  38. jheck says:

    good cross but no ring

  39. elaly says:

i like mj as much as the next guy growing up during his prime but damn… ai could cross anyone up… probably still can to be honest… dont hate on ai cuz he pulled that off when everyone else in the league was still dribbling like that… i use to love his reebok commercial back in the day going over his crossover step by step…

u wanna get all technical about stuff… interesting how byron russell magically “slipped” on the infamous last shot to seal the ring…. interesting indeed….

  40. Chicagorilla says:

WOW that was great. Of course these are the kind of moments that define AI. He went on to lose that game by 20+ points and MJ shitted all over his team, but hey, at least he got to crossover MJ and take a terrible jumper while all his teammates are pissed off.

Funny how DIME would post this seeing as how MJ is going into the HOF this week and A.I. is 32yrs old and no team wants him in the NBA.

Why not post the times that John Starks “dunked” on MJ. Or when Tree Rollins actually blocked MJ’s dunk. Or that one time Nick Anderson stole the ball from him to win the game.

It’s amazing the level of hate that new yorkers hold for MJ after all these years. I guess it’s because ny can’t claim MJ. I can only imagine if MJ would have played in ny or grew up in ny, he’s be the greatest HUMAN ever if that was the case.

  41. weng santos says:

    AI’s not HOF material?

Then why the hell are we putting Stockton in the Hall?

AI has just as much individual and team success as Stockton. AND, AI is the cultural icon that Stockton will never be.

  42. doc says:

Ai had as much team and individual sucsess as Stockton?Child please!Stock made the playoffs 19 years in a row and lost 2 finals and went 6 games both times.AI made the playoffs half the time and lost 1 finals in 5 game.Does that equal up WENG?AI scored a lot of points maybe top 15-20 right now all time.Stockton FIRST All Time in Assists and Steals.Does that equal up WENG?What the fuck dog what you 6.

  43. Yoooo says:

Yea you whalin bruh… AI had as much success as Stockton?? Chilllll

AI still HOF material. That’s not even questionable. He overtook Tiny Archibald as the best scoring guard of all time. Respect it

  44. Stock says:

Best crossover ever. Go get a rulebook, the referees were wrong all along with taking that move away from Iverson. It is only a carry once the hand goes under the basketball. And if that is supposed to be a carry, then MJ himself carried all the damn time, lol, he used to grab the ball and walk with it.

AI = most unstoppable little man ever. He belongs into the Hall. Unless you can show me 2 other players who can do what he did in the NBA scoringwise. We will never know whether or not he would have had more success had he played a more team-oriented brand of ball, but he was/is still a once-in-a-lifetime-talent. Plus he can say he did it his way. What America is all about, no?

  45. Chicagorilla says:

    @44

Tiny Archibald,Tim Hardaway, Michael Adams, Kevin Johnson, Isiah Thomas, and several other guards have put up simular or better numbers than Iverson. those guards were smart enough to pass the ball (they avg 9-10 assist) and SHARE with their team. Did it his way? you fucking Jagaloon. That’s exactly why he is scraping the bottom of the barrell right now for a job.

  46. Chicagorilla says:

The best thing about you AI d!ck riders was this past season. He was on a team with a ton of talent in Denver. Couldn’t win shit. Traded to Detroit another talented team, suck donkey dick. The guy he was traded for (Billups)had just led Detroit to the East semis/finals 4 or 5 years in a row. Billups then promptly took that EXACT SAME TEAM Iverson had in Denver and led them to their best post season run in years (West Finals) and not to mention they got out of the first round which they couldn’t do with Iverson. Exact same situation and Billups succeeds exactly the same way (West Finals) while Iverson not only failed in Denver by bowing out in the 1st round, he QUIT on his team in Detroit.

Yet even with all that, you d!ck riders will say Iverson is better than Billups because he can score more. Maybe that is the problem…

  47. Stock says:

No need to curse me out, chicagorilla-kid. Billups had a healthy Nene who made a huge difference for Denver. Denver went to the playoffs the year before, their record was similar, they just got eaten up by a strong Laker team. The year before they got eaten up by a strong San Antonio frontcourt. So this is definitely not all on Iverson.

All the guys you named were POINT guards, AI is a shooting guard. AI averages 6+ dimes a game for his career, not exactly a bad number for a shooting guard. Get your facts straight. What exactly did KJ win? He had a beast like Barkley on his team, got to the finals, nothing else. Adams, even worse, and many other guards there could not hold AI’s jock. Every true basketball player knows this. AI quit on Detroit, that is true, and it was wrong, yet no one player can destroy a team like that… they played well when Rip was injured… with AI in a scoring role. That coach sucked, everybody who knows basketball could see that. They fell apart against Cleveland in the Playoffs even though AI wasn’t even playing. The whole team had the wrong attitude except for some guys off the bench like Bynum, Afflalo. You must be stupid to put all the blame on Iverson.

I am not his dick rider, I just know basketball. You don’t. Period.

  48. control says:

    Stock=AI’s dick rider

If you know basketball, then you know that what AI does hurts a TEAM more than helps it. It would be great textbook basketball if he were competing in a 1on1 tournament or something…

  49. MadSammyboy says:

    “weng santos says:

    AI’s not HOF material?

Then why the hell are we putting Stockton in the Hall?

AI has just as much individual and team success as Stockton. AND, AI is the cultural icon that Stockton will never be.”

It isn’t the Cultural Relevancy Hall of Fame, it’s the basketball hall of fame- and anyhow, exactly what is AI’s contribution to culture? A hairstyle? Making elbow-wraps cool?

Stockton was a hundred times the team player Iverson has been, and basketball is a team sport. Stock is the all-time leader in assists and steals, and his team was consistently in the upper-echelon of the WC. Iverson’s going on his fourth team, and his third in the last three years. What has he accomplished, outside of fooling MVP voters into giving him an award that should have gone to Shaq.

  50. weng santos says:

Stockton has more assists, and went deeper in the playoffs more times, because he had Karl Malone to pass to. I think Stockton is a good player, but is AI so terrible that what he’s done (MVP, Scoring Champ thrice) is not worth remembering?

On talent alone, is Stockton so head and shoulders above AI? Honestly? Don’t say Stockton was a better PG, because AI is not a PG, he’s a scorer. AI is not the team defender Stockton is, but was stockton ever the athletic, high-energy gambler AI was on D?

More importantly, has Stockton ever carried the hopes of an entire city the way AI did with Philadelphia?

And so what about the hairstyle? The elbow wrap? The sneakers? Fact is, whatever AI sported, kids wanted. AI had credibility; he almost never made the league because he had so many struggles in his life. AI represented the youth and the disadvantaged, and he brought hope to their struggles. He was looked up to. That’s what a cultural icon is.

Did anybody ever identify with Stockton enough to wear short shorts in a game?

You guys need to stop with the witty remarks and stop to think of a damned intelligent argument first. Sure they are not the same. One is a pure point white boy from the suburbs and the other is a flashy-playing black kid from the streets. So what? Talent is no respecter of locales.

So Stockton can make a perfect bounce pass. AI can dunk over guys much taller. The point is, the two are different, but both have their respective niche. Condemning AI as less of a player because he’s no Stockton is condemning a whole generation and style of play.

No matter what, AI legitimized a small scoring guard as a viable franchise player in the league.

Are you telling me that only Stockton’s style is HOF-worthy material? And here I was thinking the Hall of Fame was for people famous (or infamous) for their contributions to the game.

  51. weng santos says:

How many kids has Stockton inspired? How many wanted to grow up and play just like him?

That kids saw AI play and wanted to play ball too, isn’t that a big deal? Is that not a gift?

If you’re telling me a legacy of inspiration is not worth putting in the HOF- even when added to the MVP and the scoring titles and being David to everyone’s Goliath- then the requirements for being in the HOF needs to be revisited.

  52. control says:

    weng santos

Having kids grow up and want to play like AI isn’t a gift, it’s a crime to the game of basketball. You know how many fucking pickup games I’ve had wasted because of some dumb fuck wearing an AI jersey (complete with elbow wrap and shorts down to their ankles) decides to start jacking like he does? Then they are trying the ‘cross over’ and turning the ball over, over and over, then, even though they are 5′5, driving into the big men all day and getting rejected.

Fuck people who play like AI, and fuck AI. It’s horrible for the game of basketball, unless you only do 1on1s.

  53. Chicagorilla says:

    weng santos:

In the words of Joe Buddens, “get a rachet, go home and just Chris Benoit”

AI is from the VA suburbs. He ain’t no thug. He is a imposter. He’s GANGSTALICIOUS. In 3yrs he’ll be chasing his Girlfriend and her Gay cousin out of the house with a bottle of Hen screaming “I’m the real American Gangsta”
