Cavs get healthy, smash short-handed Mavs; Oden, Raja injured

LeBron James

With most of their guys back healthy from the flu and various other injuries, the Cavs smashed the Mavs by 30 last night at the University of Pittsburgh gym. (Since when do Cleveland teams get love in Pittsburgh?) Mo Williams had 16 points and 11 assists, LeBron put up 12 points on 3-of-13 shooting and seven dimes, and Big Z scored 16 off the bench … Dallas was the team playing short-handed, as Dirk, J-Kidd and Jason Terry were given the night off, and Josh Howard and Shawn Marion are still banged up. So the starting five looked like this: J.J. Barea, Matt Carroll, Quinton Ross, Drew Gooden and Erick Dampier. Pretty sure the Pitt Panthers squad would be able to give that lineup at least a decent run. Hell, put Sam Young and DeJuan Blair back on the squad and they might pull off a W … Read More »

Dime’s Fantasy Category Specialists: Rebounds

Jason Thompson

Today we’ll continue our week-long look at late-round players who can help you fill in the statistical gaps you find yourself with near the end of your fantasy drafts. This doesn’t mean these players will necessarily help you in other categories (though most do), but they should at least offer some value in these respective categories. Without further ado, let’s look at players (in no particular order) who will likely be drafted in later rounds and could help you catch up in the rebounding department. Share your perspectives below. Who do you want your offense to run through with everything on the line? Counting down 30th to 1st (one per team), I’ve ranked the League’s go-to guys…

#6: DIRK NOWITZKI, Mavericks

Whoever came up with the line, “You never get a second chance to make a first impression,” should have made a fortune off advertising royalties — and they just happened to coin the phrase that has defined Dirk Nowitzki’s career. Read More »

What’s In The Box: NBA 2K10 Anniversary Edition

NBA 2K10 Anniversary Edition

One thing you don’t truly understand about the “real world” when you’re in school is what life is like in an office. For example, knowing the people that work at UPS and FedEx is a great thing. With so many things and people coming in and out of the office, sometimes things get lost in the shuffle. So when we saw a brown box just sitting by the door from our friends at 2K Sports, still unopened, we acted fast. Read More »

The 5 Obstacles To The Orlando Magic’s Championship Run

Rashard Lewis

Last season, the Orlando Magic kind of snuck up on the rest of the league. While everybody knew that they had a solid roster, not many expected them to come out as Eastern Conference Champions. This time around, Orlando is not only one of the favorites to win the East again but is right there in the mix to compete for a title as well. This time around, the path will be a little different. Grizzlies Unveil Third Alternate Uni

O.J. Mayo

This offseason we’ve seen a lot of new jerseys drop. From the Sixers to the Bobcats to the Rockets, teams are looking to get fresh and add an alternate style to mix (and the team store) before things get underway. But of all the jerseys I’ve seen so far, none even come close to the new one for the Grizzlies. Read More »

Reebok Still Talkin’ Quote of the Day

Reebok Still Talkin'

After last week’s Stephen Jackson vs. Kobe Bryant battle which resulted in a two game suspension and Capt. Jack losing his captaincy, S-Jax is at it again. While the Warriors swingman “promises” there won’t be any drama tonight when he faces Mamba in Ontario, Calif., he decided to get in some great chalkboard material before things kick off. We Reminisce: The Portland Jail Blazers

Portland Jail Blazers

These days, the business of basketball is good for the Portland Trail Blazers. However, not too long ago, the City of Roses tagged their only pro sports team by another name: the Jail Blazers.

The era of the Jail Blazers is an interesting and lengthy time period, through which it extends from J.R. Rider’s heyday, until really 2005. Whereas, the Blazers had been branded with this label for a while, I chose to further examine Burnside’s best from ’01 through the ’04 season. Read More »
