I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Madison Square Garden is my favorite place to watch basketball. The first time I’d been there was in the summer of 2003 when I was swindled by a scalper who sold me a fake New York Liberty ticket. Fortunately, a group of ladies had a soft spot in their heart for a naïve guy from Utah and gave me their spare ticket in exchange that I buy them a few beers. The second time was in 2006, where I caught a Knicks/Nuggets game that ended with the crowd chanting “Fire Isiah.” And the last time I went to a Knicks game at the Garden was last fall, which also coincidently ended with the crowd chanting “Fire Isiah.” Read More »
We’ve been tight with AND 1 ever since the HoopsTV.com days years and years ago when our offices were located just down the street from one another. Those were good times – we’d run with those guys almost every single day during lunch and after work, so we’ll always have a soft spot for the brand.
When the AND 1 crew came through this morning, we were reminiscing about the good old days, from one of our favorite shoes ever, the Tai Chi (FYI: Making a comeback very soon), to one of the best basketball TV commercials of all-time, Latrell Sprewell‘s “American Dream” spot. Check it out …
The Big Three had the night off Tuesday (as did Mike Sweetney, so maybe that’s like The Big Five), leaving Rajon Rondo and Rasheed Wallace to carry the load in the Celtics’ win over the Nets. ‘Sheed posted 20 points and nine boards before tweaking his ankle in the third quarter, taking turns shooting Yi Jianlian‘s face off and beasting Ed Najera in the post; Rondo had 18 points and 13 dimes and took over in the fourth quarter. Big Baby helped seal the W by showing some vertical and swatting Courtney Lee on one of NJ’s last possessions, then getting a key offensive board on a Rondo missed FT in the final seconds. Last year we debuted the “Highs and Lows” system — previewing the NBA season by predicting the respective ceiling and basement for each team. Same theme, different season…
Who do you want your offense to run through with everything on the line? Counting down 30th to 1st (one per team), I’ve ranked the League’s go-to guys…
At this point, it’s getting old to continue calling Joe Johnson underrated. Old, and, you would think, unnecessary. But as it turns out, J.J. still has more doubters than just about any franchise player in the NBA. Read More »
It’s easy to forget that Will Bynum once played at the University of Arizona. Most remember the Chicago playgound legend from his days at Georgia Tech, where he helped lead them to the championship game in 2005. But during his one year in Tucson, Bynum would occationally run into Gilbert Arenas, who at the time was a rookie with Golden State. Arenas, who wasn’t getting burn at the time, had given Bynum a lot of advice about working hard. Read More »
Today we’re continuing our week-long look at the projected top 10 fantasy players for each position this season. We looked at the top 10 fantasy point guards yesterday and now we’re moving on to the top 10 fantasy shooting guards. Speak up if you agree or disagree with what you see and bear in mind that these lists are purely from a fantasy perspective.
1. Dwyane Wade: We all knew he was great, but last season Wade played completely out of his mind, improving on every single statistical category while staying healthy. It’s unlikely that he’ll be able to continue improving his stats so drastically, but he should be counted on for nothing less than jaw-dropping lines each night. Read More »
The EA Sports NBA Live 10 Invasion Tour is continuing to make its way across America. Yesterday, the NBA Live 10 trailer touched down in Memphis, TN, where it was parked right outside the entrance of the FedEx Forum – the home of the Grizzlies. That night, the Magic were in town to play a preseason game and a couple of hours prior to tipoff, NBA Live 10 cover boy Dwight Howard and Jameer Nelson stopped by the trailer. Read More »
We get a lot of stuff sent to the office each week, so it normally takes something special to catch our eye. The other day we got these two tees sent to us from a lifestyle clothing company by the name of Acropolis. “Fusing classic image and thought with modern culture to create meaningful concepts,” the Los Angeles company is definitely doing their thing.
