Now this is just plain wrong. You don’t do this to KJ.
From the San Mateo County Times:
SAN FRANCISCO — Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson, former Cal and NBA star, was reportedly robbed on the streets of San Francisco over the weekend, KCRA-TV in Sacramento is reporting. Read More »

The Sixers are off to a 3-0 start this preseason, but the city of brotherly love shouldn’t get too excited just yet. With the departure of Andre Miller to Portland, Philly has a huge void to fill in the point guard slot. The Sixers are left without one pure point and are forced to make due with the unproven Louis Williams and rookie Jrue Holiday. Read More »

We could have this argument all day, but hands down, Chris Paul is the best point guard in the NBA. Even if you don’t believe me, in NBA.com’s annual GM Survey, 77.8 percent of the voters chose CP3 over Deron Williams (14.8) and Steve Nash (7.4). Recently I got up with the fifth year player to talk about Michael Jordan’s induction into the Hall of Fame, dreams of going to North Carolina and Stephen Curry for for Rookie of the Year. We were on hand for a great basketball event this past Saturday as Converse Open Gym hit Philly’s Girard College.
Close to 100 ballplayers showed up a for a day of open run put on by the Converse crew – which would have been a great experience in and of itself. This Open Gym was taken to the next level though when Elton Brand showed up. Read More »

Just like Prom Night, the new NBA season holds promise for a handful of youngsters to lose their (All-Star Game) virginity. At the same time, each incoming crop of first-timers means there are some ASG incumbents who will be spending that February weekend at home — or at least be restricted to hitting the clubs in whatever city All-Star takes place. A while back, Gerald Narcisco nominated some 2010 first-time All-Stars; here are the guys who stand to lose their spots when the big game goes to Dallas next year: Read More »

One of my favorite parts of the preseason is seeing the rookies make their debuts in the league. So far in this week-old preseason, several first-year players have already made a noticeable impact on their teams. Here are a few rookies who are making a good first impression. Read More »

While much of the trade talk surrounding this June’s NBA Draft centered around Amar’e Stoudemire being sent to Golden State for Andris Biedrins, Brandan Wright, Marco Belinelli and the No. 7 pick (Stephen Curry), it appears another big name free agent might be headed to The Bay. According to the Toronto Sun, Chris Bosh has been mentioned in a possible trade to the Warriors in a deal that would involve Biedrins coming to the Toronto, with, of course, a lot more. Read More »
Since you were probably preoccupied last night watching baseball and football, we took the liberty to give you some hoops highlights on the Columbus Day morning. During the Pistons/Hawks game last night, Detroit hit a buzzer beater at the end of each of the first three quarters. The first by Rip Hamilton, the second by Rodney Stuckey and the third by Ben Gordon. The Pistons 100-91 win over Atlanta last night makes them a perfect 3-0 in the preseason. While preseason records are not necessarily an indication of how the season will go, this is an impressive start for a squad that people think are on the decline.

Missing the deadline for Sunday morning’s Smack, Carmelo Anthony had the performance of the NBA preseason so far in a very late-Saturday/early-Sunday tip in Beijing — in the same arena where ‘Melo and Team USA won their ’08 gold medals. In just 24 minutes of work against the Pacers, ‘Melo dropped 45 points, going 14-of-19 from the field and 16-of-17 from the line. Oh, and he threw in nine rebounds and two blocks. Those are video-game numbers, like playing NBA 2K against the CPU on Easy mode. But then even more amazing than that might have been Indiana’s “defensive” numbers. Read More »
