Try Out For The D-League

Bakersfield Jam

While it may be the road less traveled, 114 players with some form of D-League experience over the last eight seasons are on 2009-10 NBA training camp rosters. Of those, 58 were hooping in the D-League last season, proving that living the dream is possible. Yesterday, my boy from college, Jeff Christensen, hit me and told me that he’s accepted a coaching internship with the D-League’s Bakersfield Jam, the affiliate for the Warriors and Clippers. Turns out they are holding two sets of open tryouts for the upcoming season this month in San Francisco and Los Angeles, so I wanted to let the Dime faithful know. Read More »

Danilo Gallinari Has Some Surprises Up His Sleeve For 2009-10

Danilo Gallinari

Danilo Gallinari is still kind of a mystery to the basketball world. Because of a back injury, the 21-year-old forward was limited to just 28 games during his rookie campaign but he showed some flashed of promise near the end of the season. Word out of Knicks camp is Gallinari has been impressive not only as a shooter, but as a distributor and creator. Entering his second season in the League, big things are expected out of the Rooster this year. We were able to talk a little Knicks with Danilo at the EA Sports NBA Live 10 release party on Tuesday. NBA GMs Diss Mehmet Okur

Mehmet Okur

As I wrote the other day, every year I can’t wait to read the results of NBA.com’s annual GM Survey to get an insider look into what the people running the League are thinking. And with GMs not permitted to vote for their own team or personnel, you know they have to be objective in their responses. Of all the questions though, there was one that stood out to me as both a compliment and a diss at the same time: Read More »

Nuggets get locked up abroad; Shaq says ’10 Cavs > ’00-02 Lakers

Carmelo Anthony

Principal D-Stern had to have been pleased with his product yesterday, as two of the NBA’s three preseason games took place outside the United States. In Taiwan, the Pacers blew out the Nuggets: Troy Murphy put up 20 points with four threes, and Brandon Rush (20 pts) knocked down six triples, but the real story was Roy Hibbert. The kid was a BEAST, going for 20 points, 11 boards and eight blocks. Granted, Nene being out meant Denver started Johan Petro at center, but he only played 10 minutes before Birdman and K-Mart assumed most of the duties inside. It’s just preseason, but in the Nuggets‘ two games against NBA teams (they smashed a team of kids from Belgrade), they haven’t looked good at all … Read More »

Nike Zoom Kobe V – New Colorways

Nike Zoom Kobe V

Yesterday Aron was kind enough to unveil some first looks of what Kobe’s going to be rocking on the court this year, and now more colorways of the Nike Zoom Kobe V have started to hit the net. It’s still early so no release or pricing info is known yet, but for now enjoy the assorted new flavors. Read More »

Rony Seikaly Will DJ Your Party

Rony Seikaly

We’ve all heard of NBA players trying to rap or sing, but it isn’t too often you hear about players trying to be DJs. Former NBA player Rony Seikaly is supposedly legit on the ones and twos. The 6-11 center from Lebanon played 11 seasons (1987-’99) in the league, where he had respectable career averages of 14.9 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game. He spent the majority of his career with Miami, where he was on the roster for the franchise’s inaugural season. Read More »

NBA, The NBA's 30 Best Go-To Players / Oct 8, 2009 / 3:18 pm

The NBA’s 30 best go-to players (#14: Steve Nash)

Steve Nash

Who do you want your offense to run through with everything on the line? Counting down 30th to 1st (one per team), I’ve ranked the League’s go-to guys…

*** *** ***

#14: STEVE NASH, Phoenix Suns

First, for those thinking Amar’e Stoudemire would/should be holding this spot, an explanation for why Nash gets the nod: To ID Phoenix’s go-to guy, I had to go back to the football analogy I often used when the Suns were at their running, gunning, coulda-been-great peak. Read More »

5 Reasons To Buy A Darko Jersey

Darko Milicic

If I was a Knicks fan (which I’m not) and wanted to buy a new jersey before the season, it would be a hard decision which jersey to buy. With so much uncertainty after this year surrounding who’s actually going to be on the Knicks, you could go one of three ways: (1) Buy a jersey of your favorite player, (2) buy a jersey of a player that you think will be around the longest such as Wilson Chandler or Danilo Gallinari, or (3) buy a jersey of the funniest guy on the team. Hence a No. 31 Darko Milicic jersey. Read More »
