In our “Where Are They Now” story we ran on Joe Forte a few days ago, we talked about how the former Celtic made a major locker room no-no by showing up to a game one time wearing a Lakers jersey. Newly acquired forward, Mike Miller, might have stepped on a few toes with his new teammates by wearing LeBron James’ signature shoes. As we all know, LeBron isn’t too popular in that locker room, especially with DeShawn Stevenson. The two have one of the biggest rivalries in the league and the Wizards’ shooting guard was not bashful about voicing his displeasure about Miller’s choice of sneakers. Read More »
As a rookie last season, Courtney Lee was a huge part of the Magic team that made it to the Finals. He earned a reputation for his lock down defense and his versatile offensive game. Lee was sent to the Nets in the offseason in part of the blockbuster trade that brought Vince Carter to Orlando. Now, the former Western Kentucky star is part of that young New Jersey team and is expected to play a big role this upcoming season. We were able to chat it up with Courtney at the EA Sports’ NBA Live 10 release party on Tuesday. Read More »
It’s always great to wake up and have this e-mail in your inbox: “Shannon Brown will DUNK ON YOU!” Have you seen a more viscous dunk recently? Forget about wanting Derek Fisher‘s job, Jordan Farmar better watch out for SB.
If this is the beginning of a trend, we’ll have to adjust that projected number of wins we had for the Memphis Grizzlies ceiling this year. When Allen Iverson sat out the first preseason game with a “sore hamstring,” we figured that was just NBA code for “I’m a 14-year vet, f*** a preseason.” As it turns out, A.I. really is banged up and will be sidelined for three weeks with a partially torn hammy. There’s a slight chance he could be back by the real opener, when the Grizzlies host the Pistons in what was going to be their biggest regular season game in maybe ever … Memphis beat the Thunder in last night’s exhibition, getting 22 points (13-16 FT) from rookie Sam Young and 18 points from Rudy Gay. Today, it was announced that Delonte West has taken an indefinite leave of absence from the Cavs to take care of his personal issues. This is the second time West has left the team during this preseason, but this time the absence is is excused by the team.
“He’s one of the ones that we know is going to be there no matter what,” LeBron James told reporters Wednesday. “When he’s out on that court, he forgets about everything else going on in his personal life. We’re looking forward to getting him back, but he’s going to take as much time as he needs.”
Check out Dwight Howard in the latest NBA on TNT commercial with Rainn Wilson from “The Office.” I don’t think Magic fans would be too happy to see Superman leaping out of a moving cab.
Last year we debuted the “Highs and Lows” system — previewing the upcoming NBA season by predicting the respective ceilings and basements for each team. Same theme, different season…

On the day when the highly-anticipated NBA Live 10 was released, the EA Sports’ NBA Live 10 trailer stopped back in NYC. The NBA Live 10 Invasion Tour kicked off on Sept. 25 at the Boys Club of New York in the city’s Lower East Side and has since hit up several other U.S. cities including Indianapolis (IN) and Columbus (OH). Yesterday, the trailer was parked just across the street of the NBA Store in Manhattan. Read More »
Who do you want your offense to run through with everything on the line? Counting down 30th to 1st (one per team), I’ve ranked the League’s go-to guys…
Last week we brought up the point guard battle going on in Portland, and were pretty certain that after signing Andre Miller to a three-year, $21 million deal, it was a no-brainer that the 12-year vet was going to start. Not so fast. According to The Oregonian, Nate McMillan was very clear with Miller when the team recruited him this summer saying that he “envisioned Miller coming off the bench, running pick and rolls with Oden and funneling fast-break passes to Fernandez and Webster streaking on the wings.” And it appears that’s how it’s going to be.
