We Reminisce: John Paxson
These days, John Paxson is mostly known for his front office work with the Chicago Bulls as former General Manager the previous six seasons and current Vice Pres. of Basketball Operations. But the sharpshooter from Dayton, Ohio is one of the best pure shooters to come of his generation.
He was Michael and Scottie’s right hand man during their first three-peat. His greatest on-court moment is by far his game winning shot against Phoenix in the ’93 NBA Finals. He may have averaged a mild 7.2 points and 3.6 helpers during his 11 year career, but his contribution to basketball and the Bulls organization runs deep. Guy shot 46 percent from deep in ’92 and was the most underrated piece of the Bulls first three-peat.

Pax used to be one of my favorites, but now I hate him from time to time because of his personnel moves.

I love Pax. Ask Barkley, Thunder Dan, Kevin Johnson, Richard Dumas, and the rest of the Phoenix Suns.
When you think of Pax, you of that play. That play sums up his career!

Hilarious video-
Who would have thought to put “Betrayal” over a mix of John Paxson highlights?
And they spelled his name wrong at the beginning! Damn, I guess there really is nobody you can trust.

I was thinking the same thing about the song. But I can still remember that shot like it was yesterday. We were all watching the game at the park from a portable t.v. I’m taking one of the first ones that came out where it was black and white and you got alot of static until someone held the intenna. But I remember everyone just going crazy after he made that shot and me running over to the courts to imitate what just happened…ha great memories!

White guy with decent shot + NBA Championship = Job Security in Corporate NBA World after retirement
John Paxson, Steve Kerr, Danny Ferry, David West
White guy with decent shot without NBA Championship = Color Commentary Announcer for NBA games
eg. Barry family (Brent you’re up next), Tim Leglar, Charles Barkely

This is why you can’t talk about the Bulls being only Jordan and Pippen and a bunch of nobodys. Pax and BJ were mad reliable. Phil’s got his hands full with Farmar and Sasha running around. They ain’t even CLOSE.

I’ve never seen Majerle’s reaction prior to Pax taking that shot. He knew what was coming….
Didn’t BJ start celebrating on court before he took it as well… ???
