Brittney Griner’s First College Dunk
If you don’t know who Brittney Griner (a.k.a. the female Dwight Howard) is, then you’ve been sleeping under a rock. We came across a video of her as a high school sophomore in Houston back in March 2007, dunking during practice, and spent a whole morning arguing about it. At the time, one camp in the office said that the rim was lowered because Brittney was making it look too easy; the other said her being 6-5 and those crazy long arms made it legit. Last night, the 6-8 Baylor freshman became just the seventh female to dunk in an NCAA regular-season game (first since February 2008) in a 104-45 victory over Jacksonville State. Candace, watch out!

Thank you AP. Bout time DIME gave her props. As long as she doesn’t get injured, she’s about to flip the NCAA record book for blocks. And she’ll be all over Baylors records. And she got complete game too (unlike Michelle Snow), nice form on her jumper, good post moves, and decent handles.

@Damon,
Crying in every smack? I mentioned it twice. But I guess you’re not as good at counting as you are at playing “hide the gerbal” with your “friend” Renaldo.

this is a very inaccurate post. at least mention that she is 6 foot 8 and is dunking in the paint during an actual play. all of those other girls dunk on the break. she can actually post up and jam.

@ha
The description in the post was from the first time we saw her, not the dunk last night.

I would beast this chick. She does have a crazy wing span though. Does the woman’s NCAA use 28.5″ balls? Those balls look tiny…

Diego says:
She’s beefed up quite a bit since Sophomore in H.S. Although she is 3 inches taller now, she was an absolute rail in 10th grade, so there is no way that, with the extra poundage, she can throw it down with the legit grace and hops like in 10th grade.
A real shame, because that 10th grade video was something. Today, she is 6′8″ and looks like she can barely throw it down–whoopty doo. (Also, from story I read elswhere, I was expecting an alley oop.)

I want her to do this on the regular and make it common place, who can stop her really? All the haters should get a thank you for their hating b/c it ends up helping more than hurting. As long as the haters keep running their mouths women’s basketball will still be relevant, so continue.
