Daily Fantasy Diagnosis: 11.26
Beast of the Night: Donte Greene went nuts against the Knicks last night, posting 24 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal and 6 blocks while hitting 6 threes and shooting 69 percent (9-13) from the field. It’s tough to remember the last time a player hit 6 threes and blocked 6 shots in the same game, and it goes without saying that this was a huge night for the second-year player. Greene’s value won’t get higher than it is right now, but he deserves attention in most leagues.
Noteworthy Lines:
Marcus Camby – 6-14 FG (43%), 2-3 FT (67%), 1 3ptm, 15 Pts, 21 Reb, 3 Ast, 3 Stl, 2 Blk; This marks his second straight studly game. No one can blame his owners for hanging onto him, especially now, but it could be a good idea to sell high on him soon.
Tyson Chandler – 2-4 FG (50%), 1-2 FT (50%), 5 Pts, 9 Reb, 1 Stl, 6 Blk, 1 TO; He played 23 minutes and while there’s much to be desired here, the blocks are refreshing, especially since this was his return from a back injury.
Andre Iguodala – 8-18 FG (44%), 7-8 FT (88%), 2 3ptm, 25 Pts, 9 Reb, 9 Ast, 1 Stl, 4 TO; The last A.I. standing put this up in 46 minutes against the Celtics. He’ll shoulder a bigger load now that Elton Brand and Lou Williams are sidelined.
Jason Williams – 9-12 FG (75%), 3-5 FT (60%), 4 3ptm, 25 Pts, 3 Reb, 8 Ast, 1 Stl, 1 TO; He’s getting better with each game he starts and looked very good last night (besides the Nick Anderson imitation at the free throw line late in the game).
Nene – 7-9 FG (78%), 3-3 FT (100%), 17 Pts, 8 Reb, 6 Ast, 1 Stl, 3 Blk, 1 TO; This line came in just 29 minutes of a blowout victory. The Brazilian Beast continues to find ways to contribute in multiple categories, though his health is always a looming cloud.
Monta Ellis – 16-25 FG (64%), 9-10 FT (90%), 1 3ptm, 42 Pts, 4 Reb, 4 Ast, 3 Stl, 1 Blk, 4 TO; The kid’s playing out of his mind lately. His owners have to be wondering how much longer he can sustain this pace while playing 45+ minutes a game.
Brook Lopez – 13-25 FG (52%), 6-8 FT (75%), 32 Pts, 14 Reb, 2 Ast, 1 Stl, 2 Blk, 2 TO; This line came against the Blazers, who usually do a good job of shutting down big men. He’s been inconsistent this season, but part of that is due to his team’s blowout losses.
Tyreke Evans – 8-19 FG (42%), 3-4 FT (75%), 19 Pts, 11 Reb, 7 Ast, 2 Stl, 4 TO; The rookie continues to impress and will thrive in a depleted backcourt.
Waiver Wire Appeal:
Nazr Mohammed – 11 Pts, 9 Reb, 2 Ast, 3 Blk, 2 TO; He did this in 18 minutes off the bench and is great insurance for Chandler.
Jrue Holiday – 10 Pts, 3 Reb, 6 Ast, 4 TO; The rookie will start so long as Williams is out and should see plenty of minutes.
James Jones – 16 Pts, 4 3ptm, 4 Reb, 1 Ast; The John C. Reilly look-alike will be a decent source of threes so long as Quentin Richardson is out. Consider him in deeper leagues.
Luke Ridnour – 23 Pts, 1 3ptm, 7 Reb, 10 Ast, 1 TO; He’s capable of putting up nice lines when given the minutes and though he’s inconsistent, Ridnour deserves a look.
Corey Brewer – 22 Pts, 13 Reb, 4 Ast, 2 Stl, 1 Blk; This came in just 29 minutes. Brewer can fill up the stat sheet on occasion and should be considered in most leagues.
Tim Thomas – 23 Pts, 4 3ptm, 4 Reb, 3 Ast, 3 Stl, 1 Blk, 3 TO; Consider the bigger, slightly better version of Larry Hughes, but don’t get carried away with your expectations.
Injuries:
Danny Granger (knee): sprained MCL in left knee, not the one that was hurting last season
Beno Udrih (illness): monitor his situation
Ben Gordon (ankle): sprained it last night, day-to-day
Mike Bibby (ankle): questionable tonight
Lou Williams (jaw): fractured it Tuesday, return date uncertain
Robin Lopez (foot): should return Friday
Caron Butler (ankle): could return Friday
For Tonight:
See how White Chocolate holds up tonight in the second game of a back-to-back in Atlanta. Also, expect Dwight Howard to break through the rut he’s been in recently.
Enjoy a nice matchup between Derrick Rose and Deron Williams, otherwise known as Bulls versus Jazz.

i keep waiting for +/- statistics to be included in fantasy leagues, as i think it is an important, and new way to view basketball productivity.
http://www.82games.com has easy access +/- stats
after 15 games, a number of big name players stand out, all playing 15 minutes a game or more, with rating of -10 a game or lower, ie, their team gets outscored by an average of 10 points a game or more while they are on the floor.
nobody on boston, atlanta, charlotte, detroit, indiana, miami, milwaukee, new orleans, or philadelphia makes this list, which includes

Hey Doc,
What have you heard about kevin martin? Is it worth trying to buy him low still?
Also do you think jj hickson is worth keeping? I am in a 13 team league and someone just dropped wilson chandler.
Cheers

Duck says:
Oh. No I’m the one trading Ariza/Odom.
I got that offer, but the person said his friend hacked him, so I scratched that.
He wants to trade VCarter/DWest for Ariza/Odom though.
Is that good for me?
November 26th, 2009 at 8:03 pm
The Fantasy Doctor says:
@Duck: I think that’s a pretty solid deal for you.
November 26th, 2009 at 8:06 pm
The Fantasy Doctor says:
@BrickLayer: He should be back in early January and yes, if you can afford to wait he is a good buy-low target.
If you’d benefit from the threes, Chandler is a nice swap for Hickson, who’s a lot less dynamic. Also, with Shaq returning soon, Hickson could lose some value.
But Hickson will be steadier, so keep that in mind as well.

BrickLayer says:
Thanks Doc.
Who would you most like to have on your team: Barbosa, Dudley or Jrue Holiday?
November 26th, 2009 at 9:18 pm
The Fantasy Doctor says:
@BrickLayer: For the next two months, Holiday.

who should I get rid of Hibbert for?
or should I stay patient through his rough patch
November 27th, 2009 at 12:03 am
The Fantasy Doctor says:
@cdiz: If you can, remain patient. Otherwise, it depends on what kind of stats you’re looking to get. Carl Landry comes to mind, if he’s still available.

also would you continue and hold blake griffin or drop him?
November 27th, 2009 at 3:29 am
vince says:
@chris,
what do +/- stats have to do with fantasy production? are there any leagues which count those? think not.
November 27th, 2009 at 7:24 am
The Fantasy Doctor says:
@kobe: Thornton should be decent until Griffin returns, but he’s just points and some boards.
Right now I’d pick up Brewer, though it’s tough to argue against picking up Ridnour, who’s playing pretty well. Brewer should have better long-term value.
If you’re in a deeper league, you can swap out Griffin for a productive free agent, but if you’re in a shallower league, it’s a lot safer to swap him out.
