Daily Fantasy Diagnosis: 11.30 (Weekend Wrap-Up)

Weekend Wonder: Kobe Bryant averaged 25 points, 3 threes, 7 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 3.5 steals and 0.5 blocks in two games this weekend. He shot 51 percent (19-37) from the field and 75 percent (6-8) from the line during this span. The Lakers are healthy and blowing out opponents on a regular basis, but Kobe remains an all-around fantasy stud no matter how many minutes he plays.
Noteworthy Lines:
Carmelo Anthony (11/27) – 17-28 FG (61%), 15-16 FT (94%), 1 3ptm, 50 Pts, 6 Reb, 5 Ast, 3 TO; If you haven’t heard about this line yet, you’ve eaten too much turkey. ‘Melo is ruining opponents this season and continues to please his fantasy owners.
Mike Dunleavy (11/27) – 4-7 FG (57%), 4-4 FT (100%), 1 3ptm, 13 Pts, 2 Reb, 1 Ast, 1 Stl, 1 Blk; This was his first game back and he played 16 minutes in a blowout loss. His minutes will be limited but if he ever does play 30+ minutes a game, look for Dunleavy to produce big numbers.
Al Harrington (11/27) – 14-24 FG (58%), 9-13 FT (69%), 4 3ptm, 41 Pts, 10 Reb, 1 Ast, 2 Stl, 2 Blk, 1 TO; He threw up a clunker the next game, which pretty much sums up his value this season.
Carlos Boozer (11/28) – 11-16 FG (69%), 4-6 FT (67%), 26 Pts, 12 Reb, 7 Ast, 1 Stl, 1 Blk, 3 TO; The maligned power forward has been a beast lately and is putting up top-12 numbers this past month. It’s hard to blame owners for selling high on him, but it doesn’t look like this is a fluke.
Marc Gasol (11/29) – 13-18 FG (72%), 26 Pts, 5 Reb, 6 Ast, 3 Stl, 3 Blk, 3 TO; He can’t miss lately and is putting up great all-around numbers this season. There isn’t any reason why he can’t sustain this pace, save for the risk of burning out, but it’s understandable if skeptical owners want to sell high on him.
Eric Gordon (11/29) – 10-18 FG (56%), 8-8 FT (100%), 1 3ptm, 29 Pts, 5 Reb, 5 Ast, 1 Stl, 4 TO; This was his best game since his return and Gordon seems ready to be a fantasy stud again.
Kendrick Perkins (11/29) – 4-6 FG (67%), 6-11 FT (55%), 14 Pts, 13 Reb, 1 Ast, 3 Blk, 1 TO; He’s quietly piecing together a solid season despite Kevin Garnett’s return. You know you’ll get boards and blocks from Perkins, but he’s scoring more than last season too.
Rashard Lewis (11/29) – 8-15 FG (53%), 5-5 FT (100%), 5 3ptm, 26 Pts, 8 Reb, 1 Ast, 1 Blk, 2 TO; Of course he’d find his shot against the Knicks. Start him with confidence.
Andre Iguodala (11/29) – 7-18 FG (39%), 6-8 FT (75%), 1 3ptm, 21 Pts, 8 Reb, 7 Ast, 5 Stl, 3 Blk, 4 TO; This was a bit of everything, good and bad, but Iggy should continue to be a beast while the Sixers’ point guard situation is unresolved. If another A.I. walks into town, expect his scoring to dip but his other stats to hold relatively steady.
Waiver Wire Appeal:
Nick Young – will get minutes and produce while Mike Miller is out
Antonio McDyess – starting center job now his, should be good for boards and blocks
Luke Ridnour – not consistent, but his good games are really good
Martell Webster – minutes are safe with Travis Outlaw sidelined, but consistency still an issue
Jamaal Tinsley – outplaying Mike Conley, could eventually take the starting point guard job
Ersan Ilyasova – maintaining his strong play, should be great while Andrew Bogut and Michael Redd recover
Sergio Rodriguez – showing signs of relevance
Injuries:
Redd (knee): will get more rest, DNPs
Charlie Villanueva (nose): will have surgery, questionable for Wednesday
Luis Scola (eye): got poked early last night, monitor his status – has never missed a game
Danny Granger (knee): didn’t practice Saturday but expects to play tonight
Peja Stojakovic (personal): could return Tuesday
Elton Brand (hamstring): slated to return tonight
Leandro Barbosa (ankle): sprained it last night, will miss at least two games
Spencer Hawes (knee): day-to-day
Andrei Kirilenko (back): game-time decision tonight
Paul Millsap (knee): didn’t practice Sunday, questionable tonight
Andris Biedrins (abdomen): could return this week, monitor status
For Tonight:
Derrick Rose and Brandon Jennings could have a nice shootout tonight in Milwaukee.
If he does return, see how Brand picks things up in Dallas.
Expect Monta Ellis to bounce back as the Warriors host the Pacers tonight.

Doc,
I was thinking of scooping up AI before anyone else in case of this rumored Philly signing. Your thoughts…

The Fantasy Doctor says:
@it ain’t easy being green: If you can afford to drop someone at the end of your bench, I support this move.

Coop says:
I dropped some scrub and picked up AI the other day. He’ll just bomb away if Philly pick him up haha.

mules says:
Doc,
what do you think of dropping Al Thornton to pick up Donte Greene when Griffin gets healthy? I need help in blocks and FG% and I’m tempted by his 6 3’s/6 blocks line last week but thinking it may be my Syracuse homerism coming through…will Greene have any value when Sacto gets healthy? If not, any ideas who I could target in a Thornton/sell-high trade? Thanks
November 30th, 2009 at 11:40 am
The Fantasy Doctor says:
@mules: I don’t like Greene’s chances once Kevin Martin returns. You could try targeting Przybilla, McDyess, Gooden, Perkins or Dalembert. The latter three are definitely reaches though, but you could try packaging Thornton in a two-for-two deal.

Doc,
Is j-will aka white chocolate worth a pick-up til jammeracle comes back. I would have to drop gooden or will bynum?????
November 30th, 2009 at 12:09 pm
The Fantasy Doctor says:
@Chise: He is worth picking up, probably for Gooden.

jay says:
kobe is a stud!!! i like him more on the perimeter than in the post! we aint the bulls in the late nineties! i understand he is conserving energy and all but i like him running the offense like last year. he can still blow by 99% of the league..he does not need to camp in the post all game and with two big down there…it crowds the floor..we have better spacing when kb runs the point!

nola says:
what’s your take on jamaal tinsley? worth a pickup over andre miller? also what do you think about ersan ilslaoisoaiva, whatever. you know who i’m talking about. bogut is supposed to make a surprise return today, will his production be affected?
November 30th, 2009 at 2:21 pm
The Fantasy Doctor says:
@nola: Hm, tough call there. Tinsley’s ceiling seems higher so I don’t see a big problem with that swap.
Ilyasova will take a hit with Bogut back, but he’s still a solid option in most leagues. See how he fares this week.
November 30th, 2009 at 3:29 pm
The Fantasy Doctor says:
@phillis: Part of his smaller numbers is due to the blowout victories the Lakers are putting together. I don’t see much reason to worry and if you’re going to sell him now is not the time.

Timeout says:
JR Smith or AI? Butler or Calderon? I was given these decisions. Any thoughts?
November 30th, 2009 at 4:19 pm
The Fantasy Doctor says:
@Timeout: At this point, Smith. If A.I. actually signs with the Sixers, then A.I. will put up fewer points and threes, but more assists. Butler > Calderon.

lawrence says:
if iverson gets signed to the sixers, what do you think he’ll put up? and how will he affect iguodala? can iverson average 18P 6A 2S and can iggy still get 17P 5A 6R 2S?
November 30th, 2009 at 6:12 pm
Joe says:
Hey Doc, who is better to take a flyer on AI, Courtney Lee or Dunleavy?
November 30th, 2009 at 7:32 pm
The Fantasy Doctor says:
@lawrence: I think that’s feasible for Iverson and Iguodala.
November 30th, 2009 at 10:34 pm
Duck says:
Is Udrih a better pickup than Ray Allen/Anthony Randolph/Collison?
Meaning should I drop one of them for him?
.
Thanks.
November 30th, 2009 at 11:32 pm
The Fantasy Doctor says:
@Joe: Dunleavy, A.I., Lee, in that order.
November 30th, 2009 at 11:33 pm
The Fantasy Doctor says:
@Duck: Maybe Randolph or Collison, not Allen.
