Last night when I got back from my basketball league, I turned on SportsCenter just in time for the Top 10. I was not disappointed, as one of my favorite players in the country, Avery Bradley, had a ridiculous poster dunk on 6-9 junior Richie Gordon as Texas routed Western Carolina, 73-41. Instantly searching YouTube to find the video and post it on the site, to my disbelief there was nothing there. I’m like, ‘Alright, perhaps in the morning I can find a link.’ Nothing. Read More »

In this young NBA season, no team has been a bigger disappointment than the Washington Wizards. With Gilbert Arenas being healthy again and having arguably one of the deepest rosters in the league, there were high expectations for the team coming into the season. Right now, the Wizards’ record stands at 3-7 – fourth in the Southeast Division. Prior to last night’s big win against the Cavs, Washington had lost six in a row and four of those games were by double digits. That dramatic opening night road victory in Dallas seems like a distant memory. Read More »

A source tells Dime Magazine that Allen Iverson might sign with the Knicks today. According to the source who works for a New York media outlet, a Knicks press conference is scheduled at the Garden at noon today. We assume this is reguarding Allen Iverson. Newsday also confirms that the Knicks are on the verge of signing the former NBA MVP. Iverson doesn’t clear waivers until 6 pm tonight, so any team can claim him with his current salary with Memphis. But if nobody claims him off waivers, Iverson is free to sign with anybody. We’ll keep you posted.

Beast of the Night: Elton Brand finally emerged and put up 19 points, 11 boards, 2 assists, 3 steals, 6 blocks and just 1 turnover while shooting 47 percent (8-17) from the field and 75 percent (3-4) from the line. This was vintage Brand and owners who have remained patient or bought low on him have to be giggling with joy right now. He’s not out of the woods just yet, but things look are looking way up for Brand and his owners today. Read More »

Yesterday, the New Orleans Hornets unveiled their new threads in true N’awlins fashion: Mardi Gras style. In an elaborate celebration in New Orleans, members of the Hornets showed off the new jerseys with the Mardi Gras float, beads, a marching band and of course, the cheerleaders. The first thing you notice about the new uniforms is the “NOLA” logo across the front. Then, you notice the back of the purple uniforms are teal and the sides have a gold pattern. Personally, I think they’re too loud, but who knows, it might help them win a few games and lord knows they need it. The uniforms will debut in in February during Mardi Gras. Read More »

Udonis Haslem is what the old-school types like to call a “pro’s pro.”
Coming out of the University of Florida in 2002, Haslem was the rare combination of undersized (6-8) and oversized (300 pounds) at power forward, and was subsequently undrafted by the NBA. So as the story goes, he signed with a pro team in France, never set his watch to European time so he wouldn’t get comfortable playing overseas, and came back to America some 70 pounds lighter. You know what you’re going to get when the Cavs and Wizards play on national TV: Plenty of talk about LeBron‘s “rivalry” with DeShawn Stevenson, LeBron’s rivalry with the Wizards, Mike Miller wearing LeBron’s shoes, maybe Washington’s injury problems … And then there was the story line for last night’s game that nobody wanted to talk about: The gossip-page reports saying Shaq got caught messing around with Gilbert Arenas‘ girl. Anyone think there’s a slight chance that’s really why Shaq sat out? Say what you want about being a professional and focusing on the game, but that’s grounds for any grown man to get punched in the face at any random moment. Read More »

As legitimate and off-the-wall Allen Iverson destination scenarios bounce all over the internet, A.I. signing with the Knicks rumors are starting to take the lead. When Allen and the Grizzlies split ways earlier in the week, the immediate reaction out of New York seemed to be something along the lines of “No way in hell are we going to sign him.” But this afternoon the New York Times’ Howard Beck says that the Knicks are now expected to pursue Iverson: Read More »

What was initially diagnosed as a 6-8 week foot injury for Travis Outlaw will now keep the Blazers’ second-best clutch player out for three to five months following surgery earlier today.
According to the Oregonian, Outlaw’s foot had been bothering up for a few days leading up to Saturday’s win against Charlotte, when he suffered the fracture: Read More »
